I call out to Guilliame "How are we for lamp oil?"

[OOC: Hi Paul. I will discount your last move because of what happens below and Andrew, will get Guilliame's Insight checked later. I am also seeing him today so likely won't respond until this evening.]

After waiting for Brock to deal with his customer, Dora calls him across and is just about to speak when the door to the outside is thrown open and Brutha Hazluk steps inside and immediately closes the door.

"Thieves!" he cries, loud enough to he heard by everyone in the room. "I have just been accosted in the street and only narrowly escaped with my life."

There is a nasty welt on his cheek that is oozing blood.

Run to the door and look out.

Pick up the lantern and run after Guilliame.

Guilliame's Insight:

 Guilliame begins to make his way towards the door with Dora only a few steps behind with the lantern.

When Hazluk sees the two of you approaching, he says in Sorendenese, "Handleader, though I now recognise my folly for trying to make the journey alone, I must make it back to my home this night. If you would accompany me as far as the bridge to the main island, I will see that my family makes a generous gift to the city watch."

This close to the man, you can see that he is also holding his side, as if he has been injured.

[OOC: For the record, all the previous conversations in this room have been in Stemian.]

"What exactly happened out there?"

Switching his attention to Guilliame, Hazluk says, "They were in hiding and started following me down the street. There were four of them and I knew they were just waiting for me to get far enough away from here so they could attack me, so I used a little bit of magick to try to slip back past them. And I almost made it, but one of them wasn't fooled and we came to blows. But I managed to break away and, luckily, was faster than he. If you are quick, you might be able to catch him."

At this, he steps away from the door and opens it so Guilliame can see outside.

[Both of you make Perception checks at Disadvantage because you are looking out into darkness from a fairly well-lit area.]

"Do not worry about me," says Hazluk, stepping back a little from Dora's approach. "Find the people who attacked me."

[OOC: And for the record, I will presume that Dora turned down the lantern when the two of you entered the building (to conserve oil). I will also assume that the lantern was filled by the previous watch. This means it will most likely last most of the rest of the night but it will need to be turn back up for proper use outside.]

I hustle Hazluck to a chair "wait here".

Then walk back to Guilliame and whisper to him urgently "what is going on here? Hazluk just said he had used magik - why didn't we know this? What else don't we know? I am going to check his injuries and see if they are real. If they are, then we will accompany him home, if not then be ready as there is treachery in the air. There is a reek here and I can't work out where it springs from."

I await Guilliame's response.

What Guilliame sees:

[OOC: Not without stepping outside. However, from what Guilliame remembers, there is an empty stockyard opposite the entrance to the Shepherd's Rest.]

Cast a Dancing lights roughly in the middle of the street.

Ignoring her questions, Dora sees Guilliame reach into a pouch on his belt with his right hand and bring out something that he keeps closed in his clenched fist. He then gestures with his left hand and mutters some words that Dora does not recognise.

As a result of this, four blobs of light spring into existence at the tips of Guilliame's fingers and then fly out into the darkness to hover in the middle of the road bringing light to the scene. The lights show that the road is empty and that the stockyards opposite are also empty of stock.

[OOC: Andrew, Guilliame can choose the colour of the lights. Do you have a preference? By default, Guilliame's lights are an orangey red.

Also, could I get both of you to make another Perception check at Advantage this time. However, the DC is tough for this one at 20.]
