Name: Zhatar Class: Druid 3 (circle of spores) Race: Vedalken
Backstory:
For the past few years Zhatar has lived in one of the towns along the glimmering sea. Here he lives a modest life helping the fishermen find good spots to catch fish using his ability to stay underwater longer. He is content with this because it allows him to study creatures of the sea and how they seem more resistant to diseases than creatures of the land. Zhatar strives to understand how to prolong the existence of all creatures.
Since he was young his parents taught Zhatar he must find a goal in life and never stop learning. Strifing for perfection is an eternal struggle for his kin. Progressing and achieving breakthroughs are highly respected among his people. But this is a two sided coin. Not yet having found his purpose Zhatar was among the lesser valued. Desperate to find a purpose he could only felt stuck in his birthplace. All he could see himself do is follow in someone else's footsteps. For this reason he started to travel early in life hoping to one day return and claim the respect he knows he is ment to achieve.
In his travels he found a place to live in a small town. While living in this town he studied plants and creatures using alchemy to study the effects when combining both. He made many friends with the locals but after years of living there some started dying of old age. This upset Zhatar greatly but also gave him new purpose, he got even more devoted to his work. However disaster struck when many people of his now beloved town became ill, even the creatures in the surrounding land and Zhatar did not know why. Unable to stop this or find any answers in this town he finally set off to travel once more to evaluate what had happened and find a new lead to study these events and what could have happened.
What does balance mean to Zhatar
Balance is realising everything and everyone has a purpose even though they might not seem to be right to a person at the time. Balance is knowing there is no true good or evil there are just different points of view and different ideals. Balance is a fine line where it is difficult to say how far someone can go for the greater good.
I put Ability Scores in spoiler as that is how I interpreted what you meant by roll 7 times.
Name: Getafix Myastan
Race: Variant Human
Class: Druid Circle of Shepherd
Background: Outlander
Alignment: True Neutral
Balance:
Getafix believes that the ideal world lives in true balance. He has secluded himself to live with the spirits of nature to be one with their wisdom for they have experienced great balance and also great unbalance and the impacts this can have on the world. His understanding of balance is that everything has a place in the world to ensure balance and when an entity tries to forcibly change the order, chaos will erupt.
Backstory: (In the process of fleshing this out)
For the first forty years of his, Getafix was nothing more than a simple farmer leading a simple life. Planting and harvesting crops in time with the seasons. Nothing special or extraordinary about his life until the eve of his 41st birthday, where he had a dream about the spirits of the forest and they spoke to him. Telling him he needed to join them in the forest to truly understand the world and the forces behind the scene that maintain order and balance.
The next morning he was nowhere to be seen. His family and the greater farming community never saw him again because that night he had wandered off to the forest, following his dream. 20 years later Getafix still lives in seclusion with the spirits of the forest, watching the world work.
Backstory: Question-can my character be from the monastery near Thornwood? If so, then here's her preliminary backstory.
Without a copper to her name and no skills to earn any, Corlin had no choice but to join a caravan in hopes of making something for herself in the big city. Things went kind of horribly wrong. When the caravan was a day out from Thornwood, they were attacked by goblins who killed the defenders in an ambush, ransacked the wagons, and kidnapped some of the civilians. Corlin survived by hiding under an overturned wagon, and when she finally found her courage she ran almost the whole way to Thornwood. She found a job as a maid at the inn, but one day after she had been staying there for several months, she saw one a man being mugged in the back alley behind the Inn. Something snapped inside her and she viciously attacked the mugger leaving him with a broken leg. When the guards arrived, the victim was nowhere to be found and they pegged her assailant. However, the victim returned to the jailhouse and spoke on her behalf. He was in fact a monk from the ancient monastery in the hills. She asked to join him and he became her mentor. On one of their first adventures in the tomb of an old monk, Corlin came into possession of a mystical sword, striped like a tiger (it's made of Damascus steel). It seemed to sing to her, denoting her as it's rightful wielder.
What does balance mean to Corlin?
She was almost thrown in prison once before for jumping into a fight without thinking things through. What she has learned from her mentor is that she must strike a balance between doing the right thing, and doing the wise thing. It's, shall we say, a work in progress for her.
Good morning everyone. I have sent out DMs to those that I have chosen for the campaign. The selection process is always tough and I know there are plenty of people I wish I could have taken but didn't have the space. I will keep you considered for future spots if they open up. Thank you all for your interest.
Thank you all for your interest. I will be working over the next few days to complete the selection process!
