"Um. I do like your thinking, but that might get us all killed in this house! It's one thing to add extra personal risk, but quite another to risk the others in the process."
Mordekai thinks for a moment. "You know what, you crazy warlock, you have a deal."
And without delay, Mordekai numbers the doors one to five, with one being the first one counting clockwise from the passage with the pit trap, opens door four and tries to smash open the lock. Athletics: 17
"All breaking locks?" Meepo asks as Mordekai and Kane both move to do so. He shrugs and pulls out a dagger, moving to another of the locks. He tries to break it with the dagger.
Smashing noises can be heard from the rooms as the group engages in their possibly mortal wager.
Mordekai takes a while smashing at the lock which eventually gives way. His mage hand flips open the lid. The chest is filled with some dust. In the corner is a ivory hairbrush with silver bristles. He picks it up assessing it, and figures it's probably worth 25 gold.
Kane wanders into his room, trying to pick the lock. He fails for a few moments but eventually it slowly clicks open. He opens the chest and sees a small dusty black cloth. Carefully unfolding you find three moss agates. You'd figure they're worth 10 gold each. You wander out, comparing to Mordekai with a smile.
Meepo wanders into the third room between the two them. After smashing the lock off he pops the lid open. Inside he sees a black leather eye patch with carnelian sewn into it. He'd guess it's worth 50gp. He wanders out showing it to the others. "Lost," he says.
Kane and Mordekai both sigh heavily.
Olin looks around, and to avoid feeling left out heads to the first room and begins smashing. He emerges with a small sack made of....very suspect leather...very...skin like. Inside the disgusting bag is a 11gp and 60 silver. He sighs.
Aga rolls her eyes, wanders into the 5th room and emerges a few moments later with a very fine looking silvered short sword. It's easily worth over 100 gold. She holds it out towards the group expressionlessly.

Olin spends a few minutes inspecting the leather of the bag, feeling worse and worse about it as time goes on. He walks over to Kane and holds it up next to Kane's face. "I think I may have lost this ill-advised game. In more ways than one."
(OOC: Was everyone in on the wager? I assumed it was a quiet conversation between the warlocks. Not keen on the cleric not casting spells!)
"I think we have a clear winner overall" Mordekai exclaims, seeing Aga's face. "As for you and I," he says to Kane, "looks like all I got was a hairbrush."

"Meepo like..." Meepo says as he puts the eyepatch on, thinking he looks like a fierce pirate now. "Gar..." He says, attempting to sound like a pirate, but failing. After a moment he takes off the eyepatch though, sticking it onto the disk with the rest, and looks around. "Found lost..." He says with approval as he sees what everyone else found.
After checking the room for anything else, Meepo will decide to move on, more to explore after all...
"Rat go..." he says, indicating the hall to the far right. He has Rat go that way to scout ahead of the group.
The group follows the passage through to another room, this one containing an old table and four more small rooms with moldy sleeping mats. A thorough search turns up nothing. A passage from here leads to the passage that lead north from the stairs down. There was a passage off to one side so you check that out and find two crypts, both with a massive stone slap meant to seal them, off to one side. One crypt is empty, the slab blank. The other crypt stone reads "Walter Durst". There is a blank stone bier. A thorough search turns up nothing. The group continues their search, heading down to the two side halls they skipped earlier. Both lead to two more crypts, for a total of 6 crypts. The third one you come across is sealed and has the name Gustav Durst on it. The 4th next to it reads "Elisabeth Durst" and is also sealed. Across the hall from there the 5th one reads Rosavalda Durst, and is sealed. The last one next to it reads "Thornboldt Durst" and is sealed.

"These are the children's crypts. But if they're sealed, and we have the children's remains... what is sealed in the crypts? We're hopefully getting closer to closure in this house though. Can we get these crypts open to lay them finally to rest?"
"Meepo think been everywhere." Meepo says as the group finishes with the basement. "Check house?" He asks as he heads back towards the stairs up, with the disk trailing behind him. He is humming softly to himself, happy they were able to find so many lost things, including the skeletons on his disk.
"Belong?" Meepo asks, looking confused for a moment. "Oh, you want put here?" He asks, glancing at the burial spots. "Meepo like keep lost if no one want..." He says a bit of pleading in his tone, but returns as he gives a sigh. Moving back to the burial crypt he waits for someone to open the children's ones.
Olin nods, "Lets lay these bones to rest."Olin casts guidance on whoever goes to push the stones open.
"Whatever is at the heart of this must be down here, are you sure we've gone down every passage?" Olin muses.
(I have a lot of trouble following descriptions of rooms/hallways, did we see everything obvious or were there non-hidden doors or hallways we saw but haven't been to yet?)
(OOC: Unless the DM is hinting that we've covered the basement and fast forwarding us back upstairs, I think the 2 passages south and east of the crossroads on the map in post #287, page 15 of the thread have been unexplored, not sure about all the rest of the northern half of that, given the number of crypts we found. Another map might be useful if it's not a hassle to produce. (DM beat me to it)
Still OOC: And I'm pretty sure breaking the crypts is all down to Aga. The second best Athletics modifier in the party is +0!)
"Aga, about that shortsword. If no-one else has a use for it, it would be an upgrade from a dagger for me if I were ever stuck without the ability to cast spells." Mordekai glances at Kane as he finishes the last part of that sentence. "But I'd happily hand it back if we reached a place you could sell it on."
Kane considers this proposition. “It’s not a game without a wager. Shall we say, the loser cannot cast spells for an hour?”
"Um. I do like your thinking, but that might get us all killed in this house! It's one thing to add extra personal risk, but quite another to risk the others in the process."
