Hi! Long-time lurker who really only signed up to use the character builder, first time poster here. I didn’t actually bother exploring the forums until about a week ago, and the moment I saw this section, I knew I wanted to try to DM a PbP. I have no idea how to format anything, so sorry in advance if this looks wacky.
Expectations:
Please roleplay. I understand it’s harder than IRL, but please try to roleplay, it enhances the game a lot and makes it more than just “swing sowrds at everything until they die”.
I’m looking for players of all experience levels. However, I would like players to at least have a basic grasp of the rules and character creation so the game doesn’t grind to a halt.
Please don’t play evil characters. They mess up things hard.
Since this is a new Age for my world, I haven’t quite yet hammered out all the details of it. As such, there may be minor retcons, but nothing to the effect of “the city you’re in suddenly completely changes”.
Please try to post regularly. I don’t expect you to be on a lot, but please try to post at least once a day. Personally, I am active mostly all of Sunday, as well as 4-9 weekdays, and the occasional check on Saturdays, which are the days I run my home game.
For character creation, core books, Artificer, and Changeling are legal. Please use the following format in your PM/post for application:
Please note that the timeline is purely based off of the major events, mainly the changing of Ages. As well, much of history has been lost to time, so the timeline is only moderately reliable at best.
Untold eons ago: The gods create the world. This begins the Age of Creation.
~ 1,000,000,000 years ago: The first kingdoms, those of dragons and giants, emerge. They begin a war that lasts for millions of years, ending the Age of Creation and beginning the Age of Tumult. This war rages until Tiamat’s imprisonment in the Nine Hells, turning the war into a endless stalemate. The dragons retreat to parts unknown, while the giants found the kingdom of Ostoria on the Border Mountains.
~ 750,000,000 years ago: The first mortal life, the elves and orcs, are created by the battle between Corellon and Gruumsh, and come to inhabit the Material Plane. Moradin, in response, forges the dwarves as his servants in the realm of mortals. Humans come about under unknown circumstances. These occurrences mark the transition into the age of Growth.
~ 500,000,000 years ago: After a long peacetime, the Age of Sorrows begins with the betrayal of the drow.
~ 10,000,000 years ago: Many of the old empires collapse, and humans rise, leading to the Age of Humans.
~ 2,000,000 years ago: The Great Cataclysm, a apocalyptic invasion of demons upon the world, shatters the continent of Elendria in half, and ends the Age of Humans, heralding the New Age, a age that has yet to be named.

Looks interesting! I'd love to get involved.
Name: Esedus
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Paladin (with plans for mutlticlass, depending upon some RP)
Background: Haunted One
Backstory: Esedus knows what it means to be hunted. Since his youth, he has felt it. Never far from his mind, forever haunting his every step. Running has been of no use; it dwells inside him: wild, chaotic and alien. Esedus has been consumed with resisting the influence of this entity, feeling, power that resides in his dark places. It has led him to a life of devotion and single-minded dedication. As a paladin, he strives to right wrongs and punish those that upset order - something he desperately hopes to impose upon himself.
But as time goes on, this haunted warrior is beginning to feel his control slipping, and he is terrified of what will happen when his grip brings to loosen...
Thanks for everyone’s applications! Applications will close at 9 on Wednesday, and we’ll spend time fleshing out backstories and such. I hope to get the game running by next Wednesday at the latest, giving me some time to get lore up.
Backstory: Gon is not someone who stays in one place for long, unless it suits his needs, or he is trying to hide from someone. He enjoys taking on new identities and personas for fun. He enjoys dining, visiting new places and entering locales that are inaccessible to others. The only person he really cares for his is son, who is being watched by his old guildmaster back home. He would like to return home and settle down, but he feels he has so much to live for in the time being.
(Ability scores rolled first as editing a post prior to the roll causes complications for the rolls)
Name: Zanilin (AKA: Reginold Trosk)
Race: Changling
Class: Rogue
Backstory: Entertainer
Zanilin, a Changling, grew up on the outskirts of society. He always tried to keep himself hidden, not getting to know others and not making relationships. While trying to stay out of trouble, he found himself getting more and more into it. Out on the fringe, he met other similar folk and picked up what skill he could from them. Not being the strongest, he was force to improve his skills with talking people up and down. Though after finding he couldn't talk his way out of a situation he had to skip town. Out on the road he fell in with a group of performers/ conmen and learned to play the viol and became skilled with cooking. Soon after leaving them, he set himself on as a cook to try and learn a more civilized lifestyle.
Name: Rustle (Mimiced sound of dead leaves rustling)
Race: Kenku
Class: Cleric (Death Domain if allowed, Grave if not)
Backstory: A young Kenku seperated from his flock by a terrible attack, Rustle learned to survive on the fringes of society by himself. His time alone taught him to be wary of others, but his natural desire for words and language eventually overpowered his fear. His thirst for knowledge and speech led him into the service of Kelemvor, the Lord of the Dead and Judge of the Damned. The clergy of Kelemvor promised Rustle knowledge in reward for his service, and some even said that Kelemvor could break the curse of the Kenku, should he remain faithful. These claims were lies, of course, but Rustle has been given many words, phrases, and books for his service to the god, and now travels the world, spreading his lord's message through the words of others.

Sorry for deleting the last version of my reply, still figuring out the dice rolling code haha. I accidentally typed the rolls wrong and they just rolled the 4d6's, didn't realized there was a button to push for ability scores.
Seasonal changes are only appearance and temperament based, they don't have any sort of ability change as laid out in UA (Shifting Seasons Cantrips). It's mostly an RP option if I'm being honest.
Class: Defense Fighter
Backstory: Like the first wind of Autumn, Yelne moves through towns doing good as it can be done.Once a citizen of Mithrendain in the Feywild, Yelne left home during one of the city's visit to the Prime Material Plane. Upon her return it had left the plane again and she's been wandering since. She has been traveling across the twin continents for nearly two centuries now and the only things tether Yelne to any place are the small wooden statuettes and heroic stories she left behind. As an adventurer, Yelne has a strong sense of right and wrong and very rarely acts against what she deems to be right. As a traveler, she is always looking for the next circular grove soaked in twilight or still crystalline pool of water that might offer a window back to her home plane.

Joining the army changed that, showing him a way he considered wrong. So when he got out, he traveled, looking for something that would show him how to use his magic to help people, not subdue them just because of orders. Ability scores: 151310131412
Backstory: Tenra is a young and energetic woman, found some twenty three years ago on the doorstep of a monastery. The baby halfling was perfectly healthy, but had a strange birth defect, her right hand and forearm had blackened scales growing upon it, looking almost like a gauntlet. She had a fun and happy life under the protection of the monks, but she was not like them. Rather than spend time meditating and searching for inner peace, she would prefer to play in the garden and chase the insects. After some years of being an innocent and carefree child, she finally begin to ask the questions about her parents and heritage. With no real truth about where she came from, she took to the road and began to search for any works that could potentially help her work out her heritage, and why she had the anomalous defect of scales upon her arm. The other young at the monastery nicknamed her "blackclaw" because of this, which she took a shining to.

Name: Ellara d'Arnica Race: Human (variant) Class: Bard (lore) Background: Medicine Woman (Hermit, but adjusted skills/tools) Backstory:
Ellara always knew that spoken words have power. The right words or phrase can soothe an injured man, give resolve to a woman giving birth, or offer calm respite to an elder before they pass beyond the veil. Living on the fringes of civilization and a great forest, Ellara served as a medicine woman for a small village. Her mother, also a medicine woman, had passed on much in the way of knowledge, not all of which was conventional. When Ellara's herbal remedies were not doing the trick, she knew just the right way to infuse her words, stories, and orations with a spark of magical power. And when the threats of the great forest came to bear against the village, she would use that same magic to disrupt her foes. The accusation of "witch" was thrown at her by some of the more suspicious villagers, and to be honest, they weren't entirely wrong.
Eventually, paranoia and suspicion overtook common sense in the village, and Ellara was forced to leave, delving deeper in the forest. There, she discovered something among long-forgotten ruins, a secret of great importance. She returns to civilization, seeking the knowledge to further understand her discovery.
Backstory: Callum Lamorre was raised in a major port city with his brother Korvin. His family was of some wealth and renown, for they were experienced gem cutters. From a young age, Callum was always intrigued by the intricacies of the temple. He would often awake early on the holy day and rush to watch the acolytes prepare for their services. Callum dreamed of one day joining the temple and practicing his faith. At the age of 12, Callum finally had his chance and begged his father to enroll him as an acolyte. Callum spent the next 4 years within the temple, learning its ways and honing his ability to channel the Gods will. Callum would become a priest, and bring the light of the divine to to his friends and family. He would accompany Korvin on his adventurers, providing healing and guidance to his big brother.
