Tears trickle down her beak as Choir sees, one by one, her friends depart--the brave and clever and courageous heroes with whom she had been honored to share an adventure. They will live in her heart forever...and, with any luck, she will see them again.
But then she looks at the crowd--the hungry eyes of the newly rescued, but still desperate people of Elturel.
A breeze ruffles her feathers as she raises her wings. "Praise Akadi! Goddess of air! Lover of freedom! Akadi who delivered Elturel from the smelly brimstone breezes of Hell! Praise to Torm, defender of the city, whose power protected us even in the deeps of Avernus! Praise to all the goodly gods, and the neutral gods, who must rejoice in Elturel's deliverance!"
She adds in Auran, to the Kenku scattered among the crowd, "My brothers and sisters, when you need words, let me be your voice. Let me be your wings. Come to Akadi! If you serve long and well, follow the storm and keep a true and faithful heart, one day, you too may fly!"
Choir takes off and goes to see what remains of the Temple of Akadi. If even a single stone is left standing, she will join the prayers, and sing the evening's hymn, for the first time, in her own voice.
