“Kind sir, unless I am mistaken and you are some sort of gentleman of royalty and verbal authority..you have my most sincerest apologies for talking at the same time as you. However, your words and demeanor tell me that is clearly not the case on both counts, and you are yet still leveling your deadly ranged weapon in my direction so I do declare that I believe I may conduct my recruitment conversation at the same time as your business transaction and now we have a situation. Last time I checked, it was not considered a cause for threats for people to talk at the same time in said establishment...
Glaring slightly at the Order's Dog, Vulcan grumbles, "You Order types always were good with words." He casts a glance to Emma as she leaves the bar and sighs, chuckling as he lowers his gun, "Well seeing as how my business just done run off.....no point in keeping that going." Holstering his shot gun he still glares at Madison, looking her up and down before asking coldly, "This mission, quest, whatever it is....what are you expecting to find?"
"Hm."Madison says. "You chose well. I'd hate to waste a bullet on you and have you first hand see how this 'Order type' can talk AND fight."she moved her hand away from her gun. "Nevertheless, my recruitment continues. I am looking for a way to push the Darkness back from this world. There are bigger problems here that are beyond us. I cannot do it alone."
"Now then."she turns towards the crowd. "Exelda. Of course. Forgive me, I was momentarily distracted. Nice to meet you."Then towards the succubus. "Pleasure. Once I had a purpose as a Dawnhammer, but those days are long gone. The Crown disowned us. When our jobs were done, we were thrown away like refuse. Even when my own country forsakes me, I stand. In turn, I will stand with you."
Soon, he answers the voice, but not her, someone more worthwhile. Father could be seen chuckling lowly to himself, shaking his head at nothing. “You already introduced yourself, my dear,” He piped up finally to Madison. “To everyone here, in fact, during your little announcement. You must like saying your name to repeat it so many times.” His tone is light, playful even, as he gives another once over at the individuals in the inn. “You may all call me Father. It will be a pleasure to fight along side you.”

"Perhaps I do." she said to Father, shrugging. "Now you won't forget it. You look like you're..acquainted..with the Darkness first hand. Curious to see if you will be with us, or perhaps, against us."
Dia's smile widens at Madison's introduction. She inclines her head. "Dia. I'm sure it will a pleasure to...work with you, Madison. And of course, the rest of our fine traveling and world saving companions." She gives Father a wicked grin. "What about Daddy? Or do you save that for in bed?"
Watching the young maiden leave mid standoff, El couldn’t blame her. Part of her wanted to walk out the door with her. LeBlanc would begin to drum her fingers on the table, patiently (not really), until Madison addresses her again.
The Crown disowns all who are not of use to them any more. Exelda would scoff to herself, but keep her blank expression as to not show a reaction to her speaking of The Crown.
”You mentioned the Darkness.” LeBlanc would try to bring focus back to the reason why she left her seat with her breakfast for this seat. “How do you intend to begin the hunt?”
“In this world, my dear, you need to take certain measures to protect yourself,” Father answers smoothly to Villanelle. “I was simply saving our little thief here the disappointment of picking nothing from my pockets.”
A low chuckle emits from the priest when he turns to Madison to address her comment, looking down at her with a smirk curled at his lip. “Well, miss, it seems that you’ll have to sit back and find out, yes?”
The smirk doesn’t falter when the she-devil says her part, getting him to laugh again, seemingly unfazed. “While I would prefer to be called that behind closed doors, for you, I’ll make the exception.”
Father matches Madison’s look to Freya briefly before bringing his attention to Exelda and Madison once more. “Yes, I’m quite curious to hear how this all will begin.”

"Then gather around and have a seat."Madison said, gesturing to the table and chairs. "I will tell you a tale of horror and Darkness. Heed my words, for the Shadows gather this day, and once we leave this Inn nothing will ever be the same again. Even now, as we speak, an ancient evil has corrupted something once beautiful, and time is short."
Tora remains quietly in her seat as her eyes scan everyone who has joined the hunt. She can't help the amused smirk and eyebrow raise at Dia's question, taking that as her cue to get up from her previous table, snagging her breakfast tray from the poor slow barkeep and carrying it over to the table they all seem to be gathering at, letting it drop slightly onto the table as she sits, moving to listen quietly as she eats her food less than pretty ladylike despite her appearance.

"The Great Beyond represents the entirety of the physical universe. It is an infinite living realm composed of innumerable stars, worlds, and mortal civilizations. Our world is merely one of the countless worlds drifting through the vast reaches of the infinity of The Great Beyond. However, there is something further, something past our boundaries of reality. The Darkness. Entities of Darkness are monstrous horrors composed of pure negative energy. The beings that inhabit this realm are cruel, merciless, and nightmarish beyond any mortal comprehension. Driven by insatiable hunger, the Darkness seeks to devour all matter and energy in the physical universe of the Great Beyond. In it's natural state, the Darkness exists outside reality. Only the most powerful of these entities can manifest in the physical universe, and only for limited amounts of time. To maintain their presence in reality, the Darkness must consume untold amounts of matter and energy. The Elder Horrors and their twisted minions are physical manifestations of the Darkness. They are nightmares incarnate: mountains of blighted flesh and writhing tentacles that grow like cancers within the worlds of the Great Beyond. These malignant entities serve the Darkness, and they live only to transform the worlds they infest into places of despair and death. Ancient lore places the Elder Horrors at five, but this is not entirely known for sure. However, one Elder Horror, Umbra, is known by name and identified, and our world has attracted it's attention- tainting, and corrupting mankind."
"If we sit and do nothing, this world will be lost. We can take back what is being taken FROM us. Even if you are not interested in the machinations of an Elder God, the fact remains there will be nothing left of this world if we choose inactivity. It has already begun. Even now, I can sense the corruption is close. Too close."
Villanelle said nothing as Madison spoke, but her suspicions were confirmed, the Darkness was strong and Gloam wouldn't be able to withstand the assault of an Elder God. Why not join the dark? She thought to herself. According to Madison, Father already has.

LEVEL TWO CHALLENGE - COMBAT EPISODE TWO: "THE DEEP ONES"
LOCATION:The Streets of Driftchapel, evening.
THE SITUATION:You are all now level 2. Emerging from the waterways of Driftchapel, twisted, aquatic abominations skulk through the alleyways under the shroud of night, slipping inside buildings to hunt. Responsible for the disappearances of the town's homeless population, the DEEP ONES are spawns of Qatu - once God of the Sea, now Horror of Umbra. They seek victims to consume, but also to abduct and enact the dark and mysterious will of Qatu. They speak in guttural, croaking voices and prowl about on feet, fin, and tentacle. If left unchecked, the Deep Ones will terrorize the town and murder innocents. Someone must stop the waves of horror and brave the Darkness. You can see them coming. Prepare yourselves!
THE MECHANICS:There are an equal amount of Deep Ones to Characters this night upon each of you, one versus one. You don't have to roll for initiative. The Characters go first. Each of you take turns in any order among yourself and attack your Deep One combatant that is upon you. No matter how you attack, you can only target your Deep One for now, and cannot help someone else at any time. If you have killed your Deep One, you take a breather and try to process the madness around you. Any buffs that can be shared among the Characters still work, and everyone has advantage for abilities considered "within range of an ally", etc. The Dark Ones have an AC of 12 with 12 HP. Once all the Characters have gone, those of you who still have a Deep One on you, they counter attack, and the DM rolls for that Deep One. Then a new round begins after resolutions and we do this again.
SPECIAL EFFECTS/ATTACKS:The Deep Ones are inhuman abominations - part angler fish, part amphibian, part man. Glimpsing their bulging eyes, unnatural gait, and croaking speech requires a DC12 WIS save before you make your attack - failure results in MADNESS, but you can still act on your turn. (I will roll for the exact effect).
THE CATCH:Because of the frantic nature of this battle, there will be no healing allowed from a Character in the fury of this combat on themselves or for others UNLESS you do not have an enemy on you. If you fall in battle (you reach 0 or less HP), consider yourself dragged away to forever serve the Elder God. You will be OUT of the game. Think of these first group of levels as a gauntlet. Only the strongest, cleverest, and luckiest will survive.
THE REWARD: Advance to Level 3.
