Krackle would frown at the sight of the dead body before nodding. "I can help bury him too..." The kobold would say before tapping the earth near the corpse and casting mold earth. In an instant, the earth would churn around the body as it slowly sunk into the soil... with the soil below wrapping around the body and covering it until all that remained as a patch of loose soil. The small kobold would then look around and tap his chin.. trying to figure out why the stirges would have attacked and if it looked like stirges killed the horse and person or if they were dead before the stirges came along. He would also try to help follow the path through the grass.
Lumen looks around for some wildflowers to gather into a small bouquet to leave on the makeshift grave. Then he follows Krackle a bit, helping on his survival check. "Let's not go too far, Mister Krackle. Don't want to get too far off track..."
"Should we set down a camp soon? I burned all my spells for the day, so I wouldn't be too useful against goblins or other monsters if we ran into any."
"Here's a plan. It takes us 'bout an hour to set up camp, and we can't jus' drop our things any ol' place and call it a night. Why don't the two o' you,"and here, Chrys gestures to Krackle and Vesper, "take the lead an' find us a good secure spot to camp out. Not too close to them graves we jus' made, and not right on top o' wherever it was them giant bugs came outta of. I'll feel a lil' safer at night if we do that. As fer campin' itself... after we got our dinner, why don't we take turns keepin' watch durin' the night, just in case?" She rubs her chin. "How does three shifts 'tween us sound? Like y'all will be gettin' enough rest that way? I can take whate'er shift nobody wants, I'm used to keepin' watch from my guard days."
"I would like to take watch when it is the darkest! My eyes work best in the dark!" Krackle would exclaim before bouncing over to Vesper and grabbing hold of her hand. "Come on! Iets find a good spot to camp!" He would say as he makes his way through the grass while tugging Vespers hand. His slender tall swaying back and forth as it peeks out from under his new green and brown robe. As he works his way through the grass he would try to find any small groups of trees a little ways off the road. "What about here... or here? or over there?" he would ask the half-elf as he points to different locations. "I can make a small ridge in the dirt to prevent anyone on the road from seeing our fire too if ya want! Do you think that would be helpful?" He would ask with a smile.

"How about over there?" She says, pointing towards a different spot near the road, that looked like a good place to sleep. "And I don't think that you need to go make a ridge to keep us safe. Chrys,Kess, and Lumen can do that."
"Oh, ok! I know for me... not being seen is the easiest way to stay safe." He would add with a nod. "This spot is really really nice! Way better than the spots I found. You are really good at this!" He would say with a toothy grin, looking up to Vesper in awe.
"Tell ya what, though," Chrys says to Krackle. "After we get all set up proper, I'd 'preciate you makin' me some kinda platform with armrests outta packed earth or somesuch for when I take watch." She takes a stick off of the ground and sketches a small design into the dirt to show what she means. "My legs, they're kinda short, see, and the higher up I am, the better I can see. I'll even name it 'Krackle's Portable Dwarven Watchtower' if ya like!"
"You betcha!" He would say with a smile "How high do ya want it?" The kobold would add as he begins to plan out how to make his dirt tower with built-in chair... with cup holder.
Lumen bursts out laughing in delight he just can’t conceal as Chrys and Krackle plan out the best use of mold earth anyone’s ever come up with.
He asks what Chrys’ favorite color is, and uses prestidigitation to tint the watchtower that color. He will use the same spell to aid in cooking, warming, and flavoring their rations, and perhaps some soup if they can find some decent ingredients.
He also suggests scouting around a few hundred yards into the foliage/woods around where they camp to make sure there are no surprises. He did think that the ridge obscuring the firelight from the road would be a good idea, though, and he volunteers for first watch.
Vesper will start setting up a place for herself to rest tonight and pat a spot next to her. "Hey Kess, set yourself up for the night here!" Vesper was glad that the elf was here and as much as she was confident in her ability to keep herself safe with her magic, she was still happy that Kess was around to watch over her.

Krackle would begin digging a hole with impressive speed in their new campsite... taking advantage of his magical ability to mold earth. The hole is only about two and a half feet in diameter but soil begins to surge out of it and form a mound around it. The mound gets larger until it is roughly a 10 x 10 foot cube of soil with a rough staircase of packed with dirt and rock. On top of the mound there is what looks like four chairs all joined at the back made of packed earth and stone so that a person could sit facing north, south, east, or west if they wanted. At the base of this dirt mound, the hole the kobold dug to provide the soil remains and inside... Krackle is moving around his newly created den beneath the dirt. The little kobold quickly spreads out his bed roll as though he is planning on sleeping under the ground.
Chrys chuckles and considers asking Lumen to make it the citrine green color of the gemstone she was named after, but then opts for practicality, asking him to stain it black. Frivolities aside, the watchtower serves a purpose, and making it easier to be seen in the dark goes against that purpose. She grins as Krackle makes himself comfortable; it's actually an ease on her mind to be able to keep an eye on him as well while she's keeping watch.
For dinner, she breaks out her last remaining meat pie from Yartar and shares it with the others; thanks to Lumen's flavorful spellcasting, it's just as good of a meal as they were served at lunch... though that might also be in no small part due to the company as well. When it's time for the watch, Chrys draws the first straw and nods to the others. She sets up her bedroll in a comfortable position near the fireside, then climbs up the tower and begins to survey their surroundings intently, hammer at the ready and a javelin resting across her knees.
As you set up camp, Lumen takes a walk to survey the area a few hundred yards all around your site, which is a continuation of the gentle rolling grassland you've been following thus far. The only deviation from this terrain is a small rocky bluff that you notice about a half mile to the north, and couple of low hills beyond that. However, there's nothing of interest in the area immediately surrounding you.
Clearly taking the time to do things properly, with the innovative assistance of Krackle's druidic powers, you create a very comfortable campsite that seems relatively hidden from the road, or any roving eyes that would take but a quick glance in your direction. Your makeshift watch tower gives you a good vantage point for surveying the land beyond your site.
As you enjoy the last of your Yartar pies and other foodstuffs, you watch the light cast an increasingly warm colors on the distant hillsides, until, finally, the last reddish, orange glow kisses the tops of the highest points before fading to the subdued, dim, blueish hues of twilight. During this time, you see no other creatures and the only sounds you hear are the faint breezes blowing through the grass and the chirping of crickets and other nighttime insects.
Eventually, the twilight fades to black and you can no longer discern anything beyond the faint outlines up to the distance that your darkvision allows, for those who have it. (All of you have darkvision, right?)
Chrys takes the first watch from Krackle's Portable Dwarves Watchtower, while the rest of you settle in your bedrolls. Her dwarves eyes are very good in the dark, but during her shift, nothing catches them, nor her ears, aside from the regular sounds of night. At one point, she thinks she sees a large shadow fly overhead, but perhaps it was just a tight flock of birds. After a few hours, her shift ends and it's time to wake her replacement(s).

„That sounds like a plan,“ Chrys agrees. „If somethin‘ drove the stirges outta their hidey holes, whatever‘s waitin‘ for us is worse than a stirge.“
"We could rest for a short while, perhaps..."
As of right now, it’s about two hours before sunset.
"It's almost sunset. I think that we should call it a night so that we're ready for what's ahead."
