Before fight began Al-Ashari suggested "I can try to take us away from here back to where we met" (she left out the word "tavern" in case creature could follow) "Might be risky, but no more that fighting."
"Whitegaze started this whole mess, so he may not agree to that," Kale replies to Al-Ashari as he pulls out his bandore. "Besides, we risk cutting off our access to the auctionhouse and leaving Thursday in a pinch if we cut and run here." Keeping one hand on the instrument, he sidesteps towards Whitegaze and slaps a palm none-too-gently on the other man's neck and begins to murmur a poem under his breath.
"There's the thing you shouldn't do / and yet, now you have / the rest of the battle to / make up for, not / undo, that can't be done / but next time, / think more calmly, / breathe, say here's a new / morning, morning, mourning. ... Idiot."
As he does so, a few components in Kale's pouch light up and fizzle away as a protection from evil and good spell surrounds Whitegaze, protecting him from elementals.
Kale then looks up at the Marid. "I'm afraid this is a rather unfortunate misunderstanding due to the poorly-thought-out actions of our friend here," he calls out to it. "Most of us have no quarrel with you and no desire to fight. I don't suppose we can resolve this peacefully, can we?"
(Kale is using Universal Speech as a bonus action to address the Marid, which gives him an advantage on any charisma (in this case, persuasion) checks to influence the Marid for 10 minutes.)
The Marid swirls in the air above the well and then sighs dramaticly. "You take all the fun out of this you know." It says as it settles back into the well. The surface of the well shimmers and all damage is undone, only Kale's etching still there. "Now leave me or make a wish..." The voice says.
(Kale's persuasion was enough to settle down the Marid. DC was 25 just so you know...)
Assuming Soveliss is still doing his spell... He gets an image of Thursday as she is stealthily moving through the city, heading in their general direction.
Al-Ashari visibly relaxed. No, violence was definitely not her forte, so to speak: "Well done, Kale. Perhaps now we can leave? Either to meet Thursday or to any other place, really. The rain is becoming an annoyance."
She though of something and then asked the well with a curiosity: "If it is not a secret, how come you are not filled in with the rainwater?"

Whitegaze will watch as the marid drops back into the well, then turns to glare at Kale, “I still say we block up the well, show it not to risk our crewmate’s life like that and to stop messing about with people. And if you’re worried about hasty actions, how about that wish you made that’s injured two of us so far?” But he’ll put his flail back away and look for a sheltered spot to sit and wait for Thursday.
Al-Ashari allowed herself just a note of irritation, nothing more: "Deary, even you should understand by now that this well was here long before we arrived. And will remain here when we are gone - one way or another. Kale's wish produced a semi-useful object and demonstrated - for a relatively small cost - how it functions. Let's consider your attack as another demonstration, leave well alone and move on to the next goal."
Luna frowns as she has a small epiphany; the first thing she felt when the marid sunk back into the well wasn't relief, but disappointment. She was unnerved by the abhorrent lack of nature in her environment and was raring to sink her teeth into one of the loathsome region's denizens, to let off some steam. She noted her bloodlust and urge to shapeshift, placing a mental reminder to suppress her rising emotions, lest she act foolishly.
"Anyway, I'm surprised you were able to convince that thing to return to hiding. It looked ready to attack us."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kale shrugs, unconcerned by Whitegaze's ire. "And I say that's a terrible plan. The fight will come to you one way or another, there's no need to go poking bears looking for them. We got lucky this time, but I'm sure you'll be able to sate that appetite for battle the next. As for the well -- you saw how Thursday wished herself away despite how we've seen magic warp around us in this place. Even if you could make the well stop 'messing with people', many would choose to 'mess with the well' of their own volition. I've done my best to warn them," Kale points at the inscription, "But that's the most we can do -- and the most we have a right to. That marid could be just as much a prisoner here as we are, and we've no proof that his wish-granting magic was malicious, any more than I intended my summoned beast to be a talking tentacle horror."
(OOC: Since Kale just re-cast Universal speech, the choker should actually understand all of Kale's conversation if it's listening in, just as a side note.)
"Now, the rest of you can do as you will, but I'm going to stand at the entrance to the courtyard and wait for Thursday. If there's anything scouting around this building taught me, it's that the things wandering the streets here are dangerous -- and can often see through the tricks of even the stealthiest rogues. If she makes it to us, she might be coming in hot..." He looks to Whitegaze. "...and you might just get that fight you're looking for from a more immediate threat. I'd recommend we stay prepared until she gets here, and then move on as soon as possible." He looks at Luna. "I'd appreciate it if you stayed out here with me and kept watch... you have a good eye on you, and a different perspective from a city boy like me. I have no idea what to expect here, but someone with your skills would certainly help bolster those that I lack."
Kale takes up his position again at the front of the courtyard, keeping a sharp eye on the streets.
"Ask yourself why the streets themselves are not flooded, since this rain has lasted for thousands of years and will last a thousand more." The voice says back.
As Thursday makes her way on towards the bridge, you spot another inhabitant of the city run out of a side street. He is wearing a hospital gown and has eyes that are rolling in their sockets. The man cries out about worms in his brain as he bashes his head into a wall, then runs onward.
A bit further along Thursday comes across...
A small cart creaks down the street, laden with piles of bric-a-brac and dragged by a mule. Leading it is a wizened old man, calling out “Know the price! Name it thrice! Get your happy ending!”
Let me know if you are doing anything here...
