(Whitegaze would have been at the door when you knocked, but stayed outside when you went in, would have seen the butler then.)
Walking carefully to avoid the offal, “Yes, I was wondering if you knew much about the graves outside and if you could tell me about them? We heard a bit of a prophecy or prediction about one of them, I think.”
Soveliss glances over to them, and nods his head. Within a few short flaps, his Raven flutters over to Kale's shoulder and lets a out a small caw. Soveliss, his attention still on the books, calls out, "If you find something of note or require my expertise on some matter, do not hesitate to call. I'll see what I can find here."
Of note, there is another room, which is a library, off of the study...
"Please leave the graves alone." The butler says with a frown. "They are none of your business..."
As soon as the mimic reveals its presence, Kale's choker also slips out of the shadows, hissing angrily. It leaps forward and strikes at the mimic with two tentacle attacks from 10 feet away:
Tentacle Attack 1: 22, if it hits, 5 bludgeoning damage plus 1 piercing damage. This attack auto grapples if the mimic fails a DC 15.
Tentacle Attack 2: 25, if it hits, 4 bludgeoning damage plus 3 piercing damage. This attack auto grapples if the mimic fails a DC 15. Second roll for additional damage for the crits: 5, 3
As the second attack is a critical hit, the target can't breathe or speak until the grapple ends.
As the mimic 'wants' to grapple things, it will not resist the grapple. The choker is also grappled by the mimic though, since the mimic has the adhesive feature.
Adhesive (Object Form Only). The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 13). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
Seeing the choker lock down the mimic, Kale will draw his rapier and spring forward to make an attack: 29
If it hits, he will stab the mimic for 13 damage. He will then use his bonus action to point at the mimic and use Undeniable Logic, saying "That was a very poor disguise, you sorry excuse for a stack of toothy wood! You'd have been better off growing feet instead of teeth!" This shameless mockery will strike at the mimic's tender heart, dealing it 4 additional damage as well as granting it disadvantage on its next saving throw, unless it makes an INT DC of 18.
Sneak attack damage, which I forgot to add at the start: 2
(everyone attacking the mimic has advantage on the attack roll, so Thursday can make another roll if the mimic lives long enough to reach her round if she likes)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Round 1...
choker ... The choker hits with both tentacles, grappling the mimic.
Kale ... Hit sht emimic with his blade, then casts his spell on it.. DC18 save... 13
p1 ... a black pudding comes up through the open window and attacks Kale. Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: 8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 bludgeoning damage plus 12 acid damage. In addition, nonmagical armor worn by the target is partly dissolved and takes a permanent and cumulative −1 penalty to the AC it offers. The armor is destroyed if the penalty reduces its AC to 10.
Al-ashari ... BP save: (dc is 18) 1 cannot make it regardless, so the pudding is no more...
OOC: Ok, it might be an overkill, but I always wanted to use that spell.
Mimic did not look that dangerous and - choker seems to be able to handle it alone. The black thing, attacking Kale, on the other hand... Al-Ashari whispered a few words, pointing at the black abomination (P1): 8th lvl Disintegrate100 DEX save 18

Thursday finishes off the mimic with a thrust of her magical rapier.
Three more black puddings move in through the still-open window.
One attacks Kale again... Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: 20 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 bludgeoning damage plus 18 acid damage. In addition, armor worn by the target is partly dissolved and takes a permanent and cumulative −1 penalty to the AC it offers. The armor is destroyed if the penalty reduces its AC to 10.
The second also attack kale... Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: 17 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 bludgeoning damage plus 21 acid damage. In addition, armor worn by the target is partly dissolved and takes a permanent and cumulative −1 penalty to the AC it offers. The armor is destroyed if the penalty reduces its AC to 10.
The third attacks the choker Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: 17 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 bludgeoning damage plus 19 acid damage. In addition, armor worn by the target is partly dissolved and takes a permanent and cumulative −1 penalty to the AC it offers. The armor is destroyed if the penalty reduces its AC to 10.

As three more black puddings ooze in through the window, they each start oozing towards Kale - fortunately at a glacial pace slow enough for both him and the choker to dodge all of their attacks.
In retaliation, the choker moves 10 feet away from the pudding closest to it and attacks with its tentacles: Tentacle 1: 18, if it hits doing 4 bludgeoning damage and 5 piercing damage, grappling the pudding if it fails to escape (DC 15). Tentacle 2: 6, if it hits doing 7 bludgeoning damage and 5 piercing damage, grappling the pudding if it fails to escape (DC 15).
The black pudding tries to react to the attacks, but is unable to reach the choker with its acidic splashback due to the long reach of the choker's tentacles.
The choker then uses its aberrant quickness to make another attack: Tentacle 1: 23, if it hits doing 6 bludgeoning damage and 6 piercing damage, grappling the pudding if it fails to escape (DC 15). Tentacle 2: 12, if it hits doing 4 bludgeoning damage and 1 piercing damage, grappling the pudding if it fails to escape (DC 15).
While the choker is engaging the third black pudding, Kale clasps his hands together and points at the second black pudding, singing: "No one here is getting out alive, this time I've really lost my mind and I don't care! So close your eyes and kiss yourself goodbye, and think about the times you spent and what they've meant!" As he sings, an aura of power forms around his two pointed index fingers, firing towards the pudding in a [Tooltip Not Found] (at 5th level), dealing 39 force damage and pushing with enough force to try to send the pudding sailing right back out the window it crawled through. (DEX DC 18 for half damage and no push)
As a bonus action, he sends another round of Undeniable Logic towards the pudding that is (hopefully) being grappled by the choker - "You're a dessert entry, how can you possibly be attacking us?!" - dealing 10 psychic damage and granting it disadvantage on its next saving throw to it if it fails an INT save (DC18). Kale then retreats as far away as he can from the puddings in the room, grimacing in annoyance.
(Note to DM: If both of the choker's tentacles hit for the first attack, one of them would have been grappling, so the second attack should only have 1 tentacle hitting, not both, as one tentacle is engaged in the grapple.)

NP, and he might also hear the commotion upstairs if fight broke out. Still curious about Lunastra

Yes, whitegaze was at the door when you arrived at the house. He saw the butler then.
The group upstairs spent some time looking over things, so, yes, you can be arriving as Thursday is working to pull the trunk out from under the bed.
For Inza and lunastra, they will have to tell me what they are doing. I do not believe either player has posted in a while.
Soveliss, what are you doing?
Of note, there is another room, which is a library, off of the study...
"Please leave the graves alone." The butler says with a frown. "They are none of your business..."
(yay! XD OoC: sorry for a lack of frequent posting. it's been a busy week)
Soveliss continues his hunt for information, focusing on the books and materials he can read, but keeping an eye out for anything that feels magical.
Soveliss' raven stays with Kale, maintain it's spot on his shoulder while occasionally pecking at an itch under it's wings.
