Chapter 1: A Mysterious Beginning
The three heroes have been called into the Guildmaster’s office on the third floor of the Adventurers Guild in the city of Herona. The office appears very antique, with several old items scattered around the room. All of the truly important artifacts acquired by the guild are hidden away in a vault by the Guildmaster. There is a window with a view that overlooks most of the shorter buildings of Herona. There is a rectangular table in the middle of the room, with a chair on one side, in which the Guildmaster is sitting in, while there are five chairs on the other side, only one of which is occupied by a woman.
When the heroes enter the room, the Guildmaster stands up. He has a visibly short stature due to his Halfling heritage. He is quite old, with a head of mostly white hair. He is wearing robes that reflect his status as the Guildmaster and as a powerful wizard. The woman also stands up. She is a beautiful young woman with short blonde hair and fair skin. She appears to be human, and she wears a cloak, which hides most of her clothes and gear. The only other things visible are her smooth hands and muddy boots. When the heroes step into the room, the Guildmaster taps his staff on the ground 3 times in excitement. He speaks rapidly, as if in a constant race against time. “Oh great! You are all here! And at the same time! Wonderful! As you may know from your letters, a young woman—this very one, in fact—has asked for some of the guild’s most successful members to assist and protect her in her travel to her home. She has offered a HEFTY sum that will finance our operations even more in exchange! Oh and before I forget!” He runs over to one of the nearby shelves, grabs a rolled up parchment, and unrolls it on the table. Looking at the woman, “Here is a map for her merry band. You may borrow this for your journey! Now take a minute to introduce yourselves to her, my representatives, and make me proud. With that said, I must be off to my next meeting.” He Misty Steps outside to catch his horse ride.
The woman pulls down the hood of her cloak and reveals a hairband perched on the top of her blonde head. She extends her hand peacefully and speaks with an accent ((think British)). “I am Lady Malyra Brooke of a castle called Escheron. My treacherous uncle stole my title when he killed my father about 2 decades ago, and I wish to take it back. I have heard that this Adventurers Guild is quite popular with the people of the land, so I was quite pleased to hear from your kind Master High-Hill that he could spare some warriors to assist. I hope that you all will help me; I believe my god led me here for this very reason. Unfortunately, Mister High-Hill got a bit too excited to tell me your names when I mentioned my offer. Will you all please enlighten me?”
D'arci assuming she's the youngest and the shortest, standing at 5'2" separates herself and stands at the back of the group leaning against a free section of wall. She is half-Elf of the Aqua variety, with her pale blue skin, golden eyes, in her eyes however were a sadness and not the carefree look someone of her juvenile age should have had, her copper red hair was styled in a long undercut over her left side, she'd be classed as pretty, maybe even beautiful if she smiled more however. Like the rest of her, her build had much to be desired. Slim, and just coming into womanhood, as she was still a teenager, she didn't have many of the assets women use to get through daily life but thats not to say she didn't have any. Because of her love of the water she was slim but muscled as you could tell from her shoulders and legs. Her uncovered forearms showed a fin on each arm as well as small ones on her neck, one would be safe to assume her calves sported the same. Physically she was more elven than human.
She received the summons the same as everyone else but being relatively new to the guild assumed it was she'd done something wrong rather than an assignment. She eyed her 'companions' as the guild master talked. She felt a bit inadequate in this room, looking around the other adventurers compared to her basic equipment, none of which was new, all second hand or with a very hefty five finger discount when she first arrived at the city. Her brown leather armour, her daggers and a spear across her back.
When Lady Malyra Brooke began to tell her story D'arci stopped looking over her companions and began to listen properly. She'd seen Dyn around the HQ a few times and he looked capable from a far, from up close however she could see he was capable and very confident, looks like a good teammate to have and learn from.
When it was her turn to speak and having never met a posh lady before she did what she'd seen servants and soldiers do, she stepped forward gave a short bow, rising back up she slightly spread her legs and putting her arms behind her back she began in a soft melodic tone but with undertones of gloom.
"Names D'arci, ma'am, just D'arci, you're story moved me and I understand the want and need for family and honour, i'll do everything i can to help, I cant do much but its my duty. The guild master has seen me fit and able to contribute something to you so i shall try my best for you."
Having said her piece she relaxed and stepped back to her position against the wall, feeling very uncomfortable with all eyes on her she began to brush part of her hair over her face to attempt to hide herself.
William Shadowfall last of his family of bounty hunters a new member of the guild. He is a human standing at 5'7 white hair and light blue eyes slim body for the work he does. Heading to the guild masters room and sitting down hearing from the master, the princess and the other two he stands up smiling and bowing his head down before he begins to speak in front of everyone in the room.
"I'm William Shadowfall ma'am may be a new member here but I'm skilled enough were I know I can help achieve what you seek from the guild so know that you're request will be complete without a doubt or trouble.
As he sits back down in his chair looking at his new party of people he will be traveling and fighting with.
Malyra bows her head. “Thank you all.” She turns back towards the table and leans over the map. “I talked with Mister High-Hill after I met him, and he suggested this route. Our conversation is a bit of a blur, if you do not mind my saying that, but I believe he said we needed to go first to the port town of Cython, and sail from there to this little coastal village called Amesto.”
((The map isn’t working right now so I will try to post it again later. I will let you all know when it’s up.))
Malyra nods, her embarrassment visible only to the perceptive eye. “I am not quite familiar with the people of this city, but I do not believe there are any wagons that would take us to Cython for free. You see, I gave Mister High-Hill my word that his guild would receive its payment at the end of our journey. The promised gold would come from my castle’s vault.”
Dyn:
From his time in this region, Dyn has learned that there is a forest between Herona and Cython. The path is, for the most part, safe. However, you know that bandits have been attacking travelers more often. It’s always a risk to go through the forest due to the size of the group of bandits.
You also know that there can be wolves lurking in the forest, but they’re more likely to eat you than take away your belongings.
I will be available Christmas day as well. If you guys are active enough to post, we can keep it going. If not, that’s fine.
William:
Given your background, you would know someone who could arrange a ride for you. You might be able to find that someone at a tavern.
The Adventurers’ Guild HQ of Herona was built above the city's most popular tavern to make drinks convenient for the guild members. You could try searching there.
Standing up from his chair "I will handle arrangements for our transportation to Cython i know someone who i can make help us. I can work on it now while you rest plan our trip if you don't mind."
((You should all have 20 gold to begin with. Cities in the region are acquainted with the guild and usually have some kind of shelter for its members, but small towns and villages won’t really care. You all have the 1-day rations that came as part of the character, which we’ll say was provided by the guild.))
((You also have a special coin from the Guildmaster. Each coin is attuned to you and has no value, but will allow each of you to mentally transmit 3 messages a day to the others in the party, like limited telepathy. Each message after the 3rd will cause one level of exhaustion.))
(There’s a dice button that makes it easier for you, but you can also type it out. For this, it would be “[ roll]1d20+5[/roll]” but without any spaces.
