“What about some distraction elsewhere to bring some away from the prison? Some well placed explosions or some that are willing to look for trouble? If we can get some of them to disperse from the building that could help us too?” Do you all think using those devices could be helpful in this endeavor?” Sereena asks the group.
"I'm not sure a large distraction is what we want. We'll want to move freely," Gadus says. "And I believe an explosion will probably cause the security forces, or whatever they are, to respond in a large way."
Leaning backwards on the chair the mage continues, "Though I wouldn't mind having them. Just in case." Gadus winks at Sereena as he finishes his sentence.
"So is that the plan, then?" Mardi exclaims. "Blow something up, and while the guards check out the damage, break in?" He thinks for a moment. "It could work. Depends on what we blow up - and how. You guys got anything on that end?"
“Well the quiet approach stems to be the winner here, I guess. How close can we get without being noticed? Will that put us close to an entrance? Or his cell? Can we magic inside somehow? Because once we get there and inside, I do not see it staying quiet and there will be many coming to aid even inside. What about a roof top access?”
What about a fire near a drow supply depot? That would draw man power away without it being obvious that there is an attack on the compound? I’m preferring the quiet approach but once the alarm is raised I would prefer the cavalry coming from somewhere else in the city
Mardi thinks for a moment. "Well, I think I know how we could do it, anyways. We keep some spare fuel for the fighting mechs in the 'downstairs'. It's all under lock and key, but I should have access. It's pretty flammable. I think I still need to be on the mission, however, to recognize my brother..."
"Or you can make a sketch for us." Gadus waves his hands and an image of a dwarf appears before him (1). The dwarf is completely average and almost ambiguously vague. "Tell me what I need to change and we'll keep going over it till we get the image correct (2)."
1. Minor Illusion 2. Gadus will recast the cantrip including any changes in description that Mardi gives until the image he conjures is close enough to his brother.
If there isn’t someone we trust to set the fires for us, I can do it. I am used to blending in with my surroundings and should be able to get away unscathed and unnoticed. If it goes well I may even be able to take the underground passages and catch up with you
Mardi nods in agreement and starts describing his brother in fine detail, until Gadus's magic image forms a close resemblance. "Good enough." he grunts.
"Well, I know the tunnels as well as any, so perhaps I will head out with Sully to do some damage, then we can meet up at the Inn. Sound good?"
Setting out through the tunnels, Mardi leads for an hour or so, guiding the party along subterranean thoroughfares. The tunnels are wide, easily capable of letting four broad carts pass unhindered in opposing directions, but the underground road is sparsely traveled this day. Those who do walk upon it are furtive, keeping hoods up and eyes suspicious.
Eventually, Mardi stops before an enormous signpost at a small exit tunnel, heavily written and overwritten in neatly cut dwarf runes and gnome sigils.
"Right. This is our stop. The rest of you, head down and take the next exit on the left. After that, take your second right. Should dead end you at a ladder, just a few streets away. Just as we planned." He hefts his oversized pack, gently sloshing a canister of flammable mech-fuel. He starts walking down the exit tunnel, gently humming to himself.
Mardi and Salazar: Mardi leads on for a few more steps, eventually reaching an inconspicuous side passage with iron rungs stuck to one wall. The rungs lead up to a narrow trap door that seems to have rusted shut. A few hard knocks that seem conspicuously loud eventually bash it open, revealing a disused washroom with low windows looking out on streets just fading to dusk. A dwarf pedestrian gives one of the windows a long look, but continues on his way, determined to not get involved.
Sereena and Bekate: Following Mardi's instructions, you arrive at Barak's bolt-hole - an rather unremarkable passage in a tenement-like building, a kind of long row house with many rooms that seem largely unoccupied. Your entrance is by a false wall panel on the north side of a ground floor stairwell. Glancing outside through the grimy window, you pull back abruptly as you make out the armored forms of a passing squad of drow, followed by a lumbering golem-construct with dull, bottomless yellow eyes. The quickly march down the street and turn out of sight, and through a clear patch in the glass you just manage to observe one of the drow squinting in the fading rays of the day.

We could run the risk of the reinforcing and going into a lockdown if the distraction is too big though

"That might be nice. But who's off to commit arson?"

Sereena nos agreement. “Before we separate, are we going to make use of any of those items from Zips?”
"Me an' Bekate can roam as part of the larger group in the area. We'll wait till the commotion starts before making a move."

we’ll catch up to you two soon. Mardi and I have some fires to start and then we’ll be right behind you. Good luck.
Gadus and Bekate fall behind Sereena as she leads the way.

To both groups, what now?
Salazar will slink up to the Windows and try to stick to the shadowed interior, wanting to get a better view of the street.

Sereena will watch the drow but wait to move until he is gone.
