Gathrik shifts his weight, and feigns a stab as he cuts across the scavenger near Nasaar. “Something is happening over there. Maybe we should try to intimidate them?”
Attack: 8 ( maybe a bonus for flanking?) Damage: 10
Jardor's spinning sword spins with little too much force and cuts a large branch and part of a tree overhead. With loud crash, the whole thing comes down on you. You can:
Stand there and take it. CON check for 1d4+1 blunt damage + get knocked prone (not knocked prone and half damage if passing).
Try to dodge. Considering you are next to a ravine and a few friendlies right next to you blcoking you, it will be at a disadvantage. Unless of course you want to dodge into the ravine/into your allies...
Try to sweep away the branches with a sword backswing. A fairly mild STR check, but you will lose hold of your weapon
Seeing the branches coming for him, Jardor quickly slides down into the ravine to avoid being crushed. (Going to assume it is my movement to go down into the ravine without taking fall damage).
"Well, I'm down here now. Maybe I can take them out before they come across."

It's a DEX check, I should have clarified (hence why mention of "disadvantage" if not rolling to the ravine). Feel free to change to something else if you want, otherwise roll for it.
*Previous post struck through...let's try this again.*
Seeing the heavy branches coming down, Jardor turns his head to take the brunt straight on with his horns, hoping the bony protrusions prevent too much damage.
Con Check: 9
Damage Dealt: 5(half this if check succeeds, full damage and prone if check fails)
Gathrik misses (unless he decides to step into the ravine to get advantage)
Jardor takes 2 damage from falling branches
Nasaar aims true with his crossbow and the bolt goes in deep between the ribs and only the end of the fletching can be seen. The giant beast roars in pain and anger. The retinue of smaller beasts looks back at him breaking their pace momentarily, before resuming their charge.
Serit once again squashes a scavenger.
Will wait for Gathrik to confirm, then post the big dogs' turn tomorrow.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The giant scavengers split and dash towards the party from different sides, avoiding the fire and the grease. Arriving at the ravine edge, they try to make a jump across the ravine:
Jardor side beast:22
Gathrik side beast:5
They completely fumble their jumps. The first one, merely tumbles at bottom of the ravine and stays there. The second actually drops on a hard rock and hurts itself for 2 damage. (never specified if it was the one shot by Nasaar earlier. Rolling d2 and 2 means it is 1) So it is not.
The retinue scavengers don't bother jumping, seeing the giant ones failure, and simply follow into the ravine.
Gara's enchanted stone adds damage to the already injured injured one. It is now heavily injured, and combined with the injuries it already had before the fight, not far from collapsing. A scavengers few turn their heads towards it, but it roars back, and they resume attacking the party.
2 scavengers who were already in melee + 5 more who join in. 2 vs Gara, 2 vs Jardor, 1 vs Nasaar, Serit, Gathrik
vs Gara1: Attack: 22 Damage: 11 After all the past combats, Gara's shell seemed impenetarble, but a scavengers manages to leap on top of Gara and take a bite at the head before Gara could rectract it.
vs Gara2: Attack: 21 Damage: 3. Since Gara is already down, this attack is redirected to Gathrik.
vs Jardor1: Attack: 15 Damage: 2
vs Jardor2: Attack: 20 Damage: 4
vs Nasaar: Attack: 18 Damage: 1
vs Serit: Attack: 15 Damage: 4
vs Gathrik: Attack: 16 Damage: 5
Gara is down, Jardor takes 4 damage, Nasaar takes 1 damage, Serit takes 4 damage, Gathrik takes 3 damage.
Watching Gara go down and then seeing them all take some damage Serit knew they needed to bring down at least one of the larger beasts. Nasaar's ranged attacks had the best bet to take it down but it would be hard for him while threatened. Serit uses his long reach to strike at the beast attacking Nasaar.
How can all those scavangers get close, without passing through the grease or the flame?
Btw, grease is still up, flame is gone now.
As you said, there is a 15 ft between the grease patches. And the grease patches themselves are only 10ft squares and can be bypassed. in the previous rounds, some of the dogs always stepped on the grease and needed dex checks, but this round they are much more organised and seem not to step on the grease.

Gathrik, Serit, and Jardor each kill a scavenger. Nasaar shoots the crossbow one more time, and the though the arrow doesn't seem to go as beep as the last time, it's enough to makethe giant beast fall with a satisfying "thud" on the ground.
The smaller scanvers (4 survivors) and the large beast retinue (7 scavengers) stare at the corpse and:
4, 10, 12, 12. Of the beasts attacking you, one looks completely terrified and with a squeal tries to run away. Jardor gets an attack of opportunity.
13, 6, 17, 12, 17. 12, 9. Of the retinue, 3 immediately disengage.
This leaves the party with 4 scavengers and a giant pack leader who looks completely enraged.
The giant one goes first, and tries to pick between the crossbow wielding Nasaar, who killed the other large one, or the bugbear and minotaur who have been wreaking havoc with their two handed weapons. 3. It is Jardor. Profiting from the empty space in front of the minotaur, the beast attacks:
Attack: 12 Damage: 14
The retinue advances to split their attacks between Nasaar, Serit and Gathrik
Gathrik shifts his weight, and feigns a stab as he cuts across the scavenger near Nasaar. “Something is happening over there. Maybe we should try to intimidate them?”
Attack: 8 ( maybe a bonus for flanking?) Damage: 10
If you move into the ravine and stand behind the scavenger, you will get advantage. that will make you exposed from many angles though.

"Nasaar, I have a potion if we can find a way to do a hand off," Serit comments as he swings at the nearest beast.

Gara is next.
Gara throws one of his enchanted rocks at the giant one that got git with a crosbow before.

Gara injury.
Location: 1. Head.
Size. 3
A minor injury, given the situation, but still unpleasant.
Jardor revels in the heat of the battle, barely responding to the teeth that tear into his leg as he continues to slash about with his sword.

In the midle is only 10ft (5ft covered by fire). But if the big ones are smart enough, so be it. 😭
