Torok glances over Swarm. In an agitated manner, Torok responds “What is your purpose here Harrower? Poisoning our waters, bringing a plague to our cities? Haven’t you kind brought enough sorrow. It is that the emperor has requested for this specific party. One wrong move and I’ll make sure you won’t get back into the city!”
The Valrath continues to Raven and Drelenur, as he ignores the harrower. “But yes, this problem is not from a natural event. The White Oak flourished for as long as we can remember, it must be something else. Now the Festival of the Oak is around the corner, we need this matter solved as quickly as possible. But I doubt...” At that moment Chnsen joins the party, Torok looks at large Inox “...Hmm, it seems like the party just grew some muscle. Maybe you are capable of finishing this task after all. Allright, you know what to do.“ Torok stands up from the table and walks towards the exit of the Sleeping Lion. “When you return, I’ll be around. Just ask around of my whereabouts. It shouldn't be hard to find me, the people here quite know who I am.”
Drelenur looks intensly at the map, commiting its features to memory, then looks at the party "This may be a good opportunity to prove ourselves. I have traveled the Stone Road to get to this city and could guide us to the forest following that path. Does any of you need to purchase something before we depart?"
The cragheart looks eager to leave the city, having so many people around are making it nervous.
Right before Torok tries to walk out of the tavern, he bumps into a guard. You can see the guards is anxious. "Ah Harold! Just the man i was looking for." Torok turns towards the party. "This is Harold, he was the active guard on duty who made the report on the crypt matter." Torok looks at Harold, a small human with a round posture who still looks a bit jumpy. "C'mon get yourself together and give these adventurers some information about what you have seen." Torok leaves the tavern and Harold hesitates to move towards your table.
"Ahem.. Yess. I ...hmm... was tasked to scout the area around Daggerforest." Harold starts scratching his neck nervously "When I heard noises coming from the forest I... I... went investigating the cause and heard the scream of something... unnatural. It chilled me right to the bones!" Harold stands in front of you more scared then just before. Then he walks to the innkeeper. "I need a pint of Blackpeak Ale, put it on the tap."
OoC: If you think you can make some sort of check, you can do so beforehand. Just saying :) And do let me know if i could improve in something. PBP is new to me.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Drelenur looks at the newly arrived guard and invites him to sit at their table "please tell us what you saw in there, it seems that it made quite an impression on you. Would you like some food to go with your ale?" (Persuasion: 6)
OOC: in another PBP game, the DM suggested that every player picked a color and use it whenever their character was speaking. In the same line, they assigned a different color to each NPC. It made the game easier to follow.
"Leave it. I don't want to be remembered by it anymore." Harold orders another pint. "Everyone should think twice before going to that wretched place."
"The guard is afraid... Maybe a new line of work is in order...," Swarm says. Turning to the others they say, "we should move now before the thing gets away."
Drelenur looks at the swarm and nods in agreement "you are right, we should depart now, before the trail gets cold". The cragheart stands and starts walking towards the door.
You step outside of the Sleeping Lion, you can smell the Misty Sea as the wind blows through the lively streets of Gloomhaven. Between all the buildings you spot a general store and a blacksmith. There are also some marketstands in the street, selling all kinds of different goods. Looking east you can see the glow of the White Oak. As you walk towards the western gate you surpass a man in old rags who sells fish, two large Inox who sell soap and an old woman with some scraps of fabric and other random goods on the table. Before the western gate you hear a man shout “Don’t tire yourself out! Hire a wagon from Walters Wondrous Wagon!” As you look in his direction you see a wagon with a sign attached "Walters Wondrous Wagon". The man stands on top of the wagon, shouting the same line over and over again with some variations.
You are now right in front of the gate. There are three guards standing on the ground, there is a watchtower next to it, you can't see if there are more guards present.
Swarm puts up his mask and turns towards the driver and says, "We are fine to walk. We dont want to spoke your horse." He then turns, lowers the mask again and drifts off after Raven.
Drelenur keeps walking past the wagon merchant without a word, the others have already make it clear that a cart is not needed.
The cragheart walks up to the gate and greets the guards "how are you faring this day, officers? We are on our way to the Daggerforest on Torok's orders. Do you have any news on the road ahead?"
Swarm: You see the man fall of the wagon, he balds his fist at you as you head to the gate.
The guards reply to you Drelenur: "Not much going on, alot of people are heading to White Oak for the festival. Torok's orders ey? Well good luck with that. He isn't here for pleasure, he usually relaxes in the capitol. "The other guards continues "Yeah, Harold reported some weird stuff going on in Daggerforest. He is used to nothing. Always seeing things that are not there."
Raven: As you are traveling infront of the party on the East road towards the capitol White Oak, you see two wagons stuck in the dirt up ahead on the crossing to the Stone Road towards Daggerforest. They do not see you yet, and Chnsen, Swarm and Drelenur are 100ft or so behind you. Make a perception check.
Raven: You see 4 Inox men busy with the wagons, 1 person is smaller than the Inox, you can't see what race he is.
The dirt roads have some puddles here and there, looks like it has rained lately. The wagons seem ordinary to you.
They are standing on the middle of the road, next to the road are some bushes and big rocks, which lay lower than the road. There is a T-junction which splits the road to a northern path, there is a sign to the side of the road, you can't read it.

"Ready to go." Raven says with a shrug.
"Yeah, I'm ready." Chnsen is also eager to get moving.
