I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Matilda is a rough looking halfling, her clothing is tattered rags stitched together to make a makeshift robe. Her hair is brown with bits of grey and in dreads. She is small, but has a big personality! Think Mrs. Doubtfire. Matilda grew up with her tribe in a swampy area and communed with nature and the beasts of that land. Being a druid, she's in touch with nature and gets really excited to gather information on new species of plants and animals she hasn't encountered. This environment is vastly different than what she is accustom to, but that just means she has more to explore! Her wild shape gives her life. Her mood is usually dampened on days she doesn't wild shape, so she will almost always accomplish a task using one of her many shapes.
After the brawl, she attaches her self to the hip of Guhner...she is intrigued by the mere size of Guhner and asks many questions of his people and lands he came from. She vigorously writes down responses in her sopping wet notebook using a special pen that writes on wet paper.
"Alcohol hazes our minds, disorienting our perception of the space we live in. How dare we forget such an important detail of our quest! Our patron would be displeased....but SO BE IT! We shall find Burke, his generous self surely has charted a boat for our journey. Though, I am in no need as I could just swim this ocean as "Broccoli" the croc!" Matilda flips through her notebook, dripping with dirty swamp water, and shows everyone a sketch of a large crocodile with "Broccoli" scribbled next to it.

DM - A Quest for the Shunned City (Groups 1 and 2)
Currently bundled up nicely in the clothes Burke had provided, one could only see Mouse's cold pink pointy nose straddled by round spectacles, poking out from the comfort of his pulled up hood and scarf that covered his face and ears. His travelers pack was cinched up high so that his shoulders bore the weight rather than his lower back.
Underneath the warm winter clothes, he stood five feet two inches tall, 135 pounds soaked, with small beady black eyes that were made to look even beadier by the false round specs. Brown rodent like fur covered the majority of his body excluding his face, feet and hands. He'd shoved said, long and slender hands into his coat pockets. Opting not to wear the gloves that came with the outfit. His hands were his money makers, and by instinct he never hindered his sense of touch.
Standing right outside the door of the Tavern he'd spent last night in, he marveled at all the commotion King Thornwoods competition had brought to the usually sleepy coal miners town. "If we weren't already behind schedule Rat, i bet we could find some interesting things around here.." Mouse spoke down towards his chest, to the pet taking refuge in his inner coat pocket. Normally Coalburn wasn't the type of town Mouse worked. The civilians made too little for working too hard, just to be taxed too much by the king. Today though, it was bursting at the seams with other adventurers, entertainers, and peddlers. "Lets be off then...at least the cold helps clear the hangover a bit."He mumbled once more to his mouse.
Head down and eyes up, he made his way towards the docks, assuming his usual feigned body language of man doing his best not to get in anyone's way. It was time to get this job started!
A cloaked individual roamed the docks, trying to locate his group or the ship that was rented for them. If one got close, they could smell the scent of smoke coming off of the towering figure, and if they peeked under their hood, they would see a dragonborn covered in golden scales.
As the towns folk mill about the adventurers gravitate to each other. With the opening ceremony just around the corner, their missing patron continues to concern them in till...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Burke sure is cutting it close, isn't he?" Mouse asked from his place standing at the back of the group. He was relieved to have found his group, but was starting to wonder if he'd traveled all this way for nothing.
Coming up behind the small gathering the crowd splits. Walking up is none other than Oswald Burke! Mr. Burke is a short. Very short. Despite being full human he's barely four feet tall. He has a shining bald head and a long crooked nose, but his most notable facial feature is his large lopsided mouth that was almost always showing a pointy toothed grin.
This was not one of those times.
As he stomped forwards the crowd parted around him, giving the scrawny man a wide berth. He walks up unafraid to the Goliath, hacking and monk and curtly says,
"Here you are! Where are the others? I told you to meet at the square, not the docks! There's been a problem and-"
Suddenly a loud booming voice echoes over the town! "All contestants please report to the Square! The ceremony will begin shortly!"
Mr. Burke's small eyes widen and he hisses "Go, go! I'll tell you all, later!"
The square of Coalburn is a rather small affair, but the festivities as breathed some light into it! Sellers booths are set up around the edges and the tavern his roaring with music and laughter! But the middle of the is roped of by a series of red ropes in a large circle. Signs are placed around that read "Competition staff and contestants only!" and sure enough, the people on the inside of the ropes look to be competitors.
They stand in assorted groups, each group standing on a large red number painted on the ground. The numbers are from 1 to 12 but every number has someone on it except 12. In the middle of the circle of numbers a small stage has been set up with a sign that reads "Starts at Noon! No shows will be disqualified!" in large black lettering.
But, of course, its the people, the competition thats the most interest!
Al, are you playing that Guhner isn't part of the team yet?
I rush to the 12 spot assuming it's ours while also pulling up my hood. Then I look at the competition.
from the phb (Tool use is not tied to a single ability, since proficiency with a tool represents broader knowledge of its use. For example, the DM might ask you to make a Dexterity check to carve a fine detail with your woodcarver's tools, or a Strength check to make something out of particularly hard wood.) But I am fine with not doing checks if that's how you want to do it.
Mouse follows the young monk to stand on the red 12. He'll use the pretense of dusting off snow and trying to keep warm to get a read on the teams closest to their plot. And wait for Burke to fill them in on the problem he started to mention.
1. Standing over the one is a group of four. The first is a tall young man with sandy-blonde hair and bright green eyes. His face has a look of extreme seriousness and he stands at attention. He's dressed in gold and white armor and has a great sword strapped to his back. Finally, the front of his armor has the holy symbols of Themis, Goddess of Justice, displayed. Next to him stands a young woman her long blonde hair draping around her. She wears a simple white robe and cost and has a smile that seems to brighten every thing around her! In her hand is a long gold staff with the symbol of Luvia, Goddess of Love, perched on top. Sitting on the ground behind them is a grey haired dwarf. He has on a large pair of goggles and a pair of thick leather boots. His grey beard blends in the the grey winter gear he has on. In his hands he seems to be tinkering with an accordion. Lastly, an old man stands hunched over near by. He seems to be a half elf, for he has large pointed ears but a long white beard. The top of his head is bald but he has bushy eyebrows and facial hair, and from here you can tell that hes smiling. His robes are a deep purple and have brightly colored shapes stitched into it. He is leaning on a spruce wood staff with a purple orb affixed to the top.
2. Above the two stands two woman, both half elf judging from there looks. One has silver hair tied in a pony tail and a large pair of glasses set upon her rather beautiful face. Shes holding a map up to her face tracing her finger along it and muttering to her self. She has on a grey fur coat, pants, and boots along with a leather satchel bag. The other woman is running back and forth, pretending to shoot imaginary arrows at the other contenders. She has fiery red hair tied in a long braid and a very real bow and quiver on her back. Her cloths seem to looser that her partner's but still quite warm. A snakeskin belt is tied around her dark green tunic and a dark green bandanna is tied around her freckled forehead.
3. Standing alone on the three is a large, muscular man. He has shaggy brown hair and short but thick brown beard. He wears only a pair of torn pants, nothing more. He's staring intently down at the wooden spear hes sharpening with a stone dagger.
4. Another lone person, team number four consist of a raggedy looking fellow. He has on a stained trench coat and a torn up hat. His his beard is wild and unkempt and his eye twitches every few seconds. He has a large tan sack behind him tied closed with a black cord and his pockets seem to be filled with something as well. The man glances between each ot the contestants, over and over again.
5. Over the five stands a very well dressed gentleman. He has on a fancy beige suit and tailcoat along with a tall brass colored top hat. In his hand is a long slender brass cane and his face... gods his face! It appears its not a man at all but some sort of automaton! It's eyes are a bright glowing blue, but besides that his face is just a smooth brass surface! His hands a long lengths of cord and brass, creating the metal bone structure of a hand! And to top it off, a slight ticking noise seems to be emitting from him.
6. The largest group of people is standing over number six. 20 or so large burly men, all dressed for sailing the Frigid Sea! Standing in front of them all is a tall, slender woman with black hair and dark skin. She has on a long black leather coat and a black captains hat. An eye patch covers one eye and gold earring hang from one ear. She has two cutlasses on her belt along with two daggers and two flintlock pistons. On her feet are a pair of long, red, high heeled boots.
7. The member of team seven seem to currently be in an argument. You see a half orc wearing a long black cloak having a heated debate with a short human girl. The orc carries a long wooden staff and has a... Lion! yes a lion! by his side. The human girl doesn't seem dress for the weather, wearing shorts and a orange sleeveless shirt. Her orange-blonde hair is tied into pigtails and she has two swords strapped to he waist. A halfling is standing below them trying to get a word in. He has shorty brown hair and dark eyes. He's wearing a woolly cloak over some leather armor and he has a fez under one arm. A small brown monkey stands on the ground near him, trying to pry the fez away. Far away from the other three, a old man sits on barrel. He has a staff (chard at the end) laying across his lap and a bottle of whiskey, which he proceeds to chug down, throw away from him, reach down, and grab another. His robes are red with golden stars sewn in and his tall pointed hat is the same.
8. Team eight seems to be a dozen or so blacked robed people all wearing (plague) doctor's masks of different colors. The one at the front has on a lime green one and seems only to be about 4 feet tall. He has a potion in one hand, which he begins to shake as he lets out a less then sane laugh!
9. On the nine stands a group that looks like they get along great with the undead! One is and old man, with long grey hair and a cleanly shaven face. He has bright yellow eyes and crooked yellow teeth. He's wearing a black suit and a tall top hat, but his bow tie seems to be the taxidermy remains of a bat. He has a large cage on his back and he seems to be using a old shovel as a cane. Hes talking with an old woman wrapped up in furs and shawls. She as a flatten nose and way too many wrinkles on her face. She has her hands folded over a simple wooden cane and nods along to the mans words. Next to them his a beautiful woman... With what appears to be the bottom half a spider! Hew dark hair is tied up in two buns and she has a pair of circular glasses on her button nose. She has on a large brown fur coat and her human hands are shoved min its pockets, while her spider half sways back and forth. Behind her a possibly stranger creature stands. The scrawny, hunched over creature seems to have grey, scaly skin, but its much to short to be a dragonborn. It's wrapping dirty white cloth around its body layer by layer, and its balanced perfectly on a staff stabbed into the dirt. On its face is a large wooden tiki mask with bright paint creating complicated designs.
10. Team ten has ten people! Eight of them look to be teenagers all wearing woolly robes and striped scarfs. Two of them are a pair of pale boys. Another is a dark skinned girl with curly back hair. Shes talking to a petite girl with short red hair and a smug grin on her face. One is a pale girl with freckles and a large black witches cap. A rather heavyset boy is using what looks like a wand to have a sword fight with a very handsome blonde haired boy. Lastly, a small girl with large glasses, her nose buried in a book. The two adults are a tall red haired man with a deep scowl on his face. He has on a dark green trench coat and a pair of dueling boots. The other is a old man with blue and gold hat and robes, bifocals and a large staff with a glowing white orb on top.
11. The last team (beside your own) is odder that the rest! A tall and handsome teifling, wearing a striped suit and top hat, is yelling at a very large half orc wearing a striped leotard. Nearby a purple haired gnome falls over laughing a woman wearing a red leotard and overcoat gets her long brown hair stuck in the open maw of a treasure chest with an eye and teeth! In the background of all this chaos is a woman with short blonde hair counting the suitcases behind the rest of the group and writing stuff down in a small blue notebook.
Its no surprise that such an odd competition would drag out the oddest in Azairia!
The gold and white armored one from Team 1 is Roman Lightguard, High Inquisitor of The Church of Themis. The girl with him must then by Angelica Pureheart, High Priestess of Luvia. Witch of course means that the old half elf must by the royal Minister of Magic, the Archmage Lanos. (The king and the churches of Themis & Luvia go hand and hand)
You had heard rumors that Mr. Fourthfeild of the Carter & Fourthfeild Co. was an automaton but you didn't believe it. Now there he stands! Odd though, last you heard Carter & Fourthfeild was swimming in gold cause of Thornwood's war. (Carter & Fourthfeild mass produce brass and steel)
Lastly, you conclude that Team 10 must be from the Northstar Academy for the Arcane, the 3rd best wizarding school ever! (and current best). The old man in the blue robes must be the headmaster, Isaac Northstar himself, the 4th & 1/2 headmaster!
Opening my eyes I convey this information to the team. Along with a warning. "Team 1 is heavily connected with the crown so they will be favoured during the competition. it's best we stear clear of them as much as possible and the automaton is wealthy too so he will have resources behind him as well.
The shiftling rouge steals looks at the people to his left and right.
The one the monk said is The High Inquisitor is having a conversation with The High Preistess but they are to quiet to hear. The dwarf is still messing with his accordion, his back turned. The one called Lanos notices you glance over! He smiles and gives a small, awkward wave.
On your left Team 11 is only getting louder!
"Sorry boss. I didn't mean to..." the large orc says meekly.
"That doesn't matter, Arhg! We can't hope to win if you keep losing stuff!" the teifling shouts, more disappointed than angry.
"GRRR..." the treasure chest growls!
"I'll gut you, Fizzwigg! Help me out!" the red leotard woman yells.
"HAHAHA, let me think... NO! HAHAHA!" the gnome giggles as the ruffles and ribbons on his suit flaying about!
"21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27..." the counting woman counts, shouting over the others.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mouse returns the wave and gives the Minister of Magic a polite head nod as well. Better to not draw too much attention from the royal faction just yet. Instead he turns his attention to team 11 who were arguing loudly among themselves about a lost something or other. Mouse will attempt to eavesdrop on team 11 more closely.

I begin meditating once again and wait.
