Tella quickly takes out her tome and casts shield around herself and it surrounds her teammates attempting to protect her. (Assuming they are within 5ft. of her)
Kendrick continues to move up to the group, but stops perhaps a dozen feet away so as not to get in the way of the arriving guards. He crosses his arms and watches carefully with a disapproving look on his face as the situation unfolds.

Osso and Purbag successfully block the Orc. Three guards arrive shortly after. Two of the guards restrain the angry Orc. "You lot!" the other guard says. "Come with me." He leads you about 100 feet away, out of the earshot of the orc, and stands so that you cannot see the other guards. "I saw everything that happened, so don't try to pretend you didn't do anything. I've got to look out for all of the people here in The Bridged City, and I can't be letting violent people into the city. By every right, you should be banned from this city and your faces put up at the entrance so you can never come back in." He pauses to let this sink it. "Unless, maybe you can coin-vince me otherwise." He holds out one hand as if he expects you to put something in it.
Sighing, Kendrick recognizes one of the oldest plays in the book, and he speaks up quickly, "You, know, my friends and I were just talking about taking up a collection for the widows and orphans of the brave guardsmen lost in the line of duty, weren't we," he remarks to the others. Turning to the guardsman, he says, "but we just haven't found the time to get to the collection point and drop off our donations...Do you suppose you could help us out?"
Kendrick attempts to get a gp or two worth of "donations" from each person to give to the guardsman. He offers a fake smile and thinks, "This is no different than greasing the skids when coming into port--I wonder if that orc is working with the guards just so they can provide this kind of "opportunity' for themselves..."
Not knowing any different, Osso reaches into his coin bag and fishes out a GP, hands it to Kendrick and makes a note to himself - Must get more money. Seems we need to pay people to be in the city. Not at all like home.
Bilick fishes two gold from his pockets and slaps them angrily into Kendrick's hand, staring daggers at the guard.
In Dwarvish, he will say, almost to himself as to Osso. "This place is hard and corrupt, brother. They value only money here, and power. It never changes. If only the mountain would reclaim this place as its own."
Purbag reaches into his first pocket, and finds that it has a hole in it. But remembers he keeps his purse in his pack because of that! A quick trip to the cart he will grab his pack and 2 GP to give to Tella.

"Ah yes," The guard says, "How thoughtful of you to think of the widows and orphans. Have a pleasurable stay in our city." He looks Tella up and down and winks. "... and I hope to see more of you." He then heads over to where the other guards have shackled the orc.
The stairs the lead up to the Bridged City lie in front of you.

Kendrick:
"C'mon, let's go," suggests Kendrick as he starts heading up the stairs into the city. He looks back at the orc with a suspicious eye, wondering if this was all a setup and the orc had a scam running with the corrupt guards (Insight: 17 ). Regardless, it seemed like they were free to proceed. "Where to? Some kind of library or school or something, right?" asks Kendrick, somewhat distracted by recent events into forgetting exactly where they were supposed to be going...

"The Academy of Magic and Engineering," Bilick grumbles from the back of the group. He seems to be dragging his feet, resisting heading back into the city.
(DM -- given Bilick's urchin background and his "City Secrets" trait, he should be able to lead the group right to the Academy, yeah -- the City Secrets trait:
You know the secret patterns and flow to cities and can find passages through the urban sprawl that others would miss. When you are not in combat, you (and companions you lead) can travel between any two locations in the city twice as fast as your speed would normally allow.)
”Right, you know this city Bilick. Lead on, then,” says Kendrick simply. Not willing to judge the city by a few guards, he keeps an open mind about it...for now.

The building of the city are carved right into the rock of the mountain. Stone pathways and stair cases wind their way between buildings. Merchants travel though the streets with porter;s carying their wares. You can't travel more than 10 feet without encountering stairs. Bilick recalls that the Academy of Magic and Engineering is on the north side of the city, which you reach in about half an hour.
It’s normally hard to miss the famous spires of the Academy, but where the spires should be is a dome of golden light. The entire Academy campus — a collection of buildings from storehouses, to dormitories, to elegant spires that house magical libraries and workrooms — is currently shielded by a dome of golden light. It is impossible to see what is on the other side.
Kendrick moves slowly to the shimmering shield, his hand reaching forward as if to touch it. “I take it this isn’t usually here?” he asks Bilick, suddenly pulling his hand back and saying, “Is it dangerous?”

Purbag helps Osso create a wall in front of Tella to stop the outraged Orc, and to also give the guards time to approach.

"What is this? I not see anything like this before...it looks like big shield...are they hiding from something?"
He sees Tella start to head off.
"Hey, snak...I mean Tella. Where you go? There be may more angry orcs around if you alone again."
