"I bet it is just a bunch of poor puppies." bree says at the sight of the shapes inside the ship. "Poor little critters... Let's go and see if we can get them out of there. I call dibs on the cutest one."
Bree, being the first one to make her way forward in an attempt to save the poor critters is the first to see...
A glow on the horizon above the falls. At certain times of year this would be a usual sunrise on the river, but it's not sunrise. Nor is it that time of year.
As you watch, the glow gets brighter and brighter, looming atop the falls. Finally you see a huge ship aflame crest over the falls. None of you have ever seen anything like it. Not just the size of the ship, but a ship engulfed in flame, plummeting (by your estimates *way too far*) Crashes over the falls with a horrendous crushing sound and spray of water. As it lands it send a large wave downriver. Crashing into the derelict ship first but sending waves towards the shore.
I'll need dex checks from everyone (unfortunately, the ship in the middle of the river is pushing the wave towards the shore) (DC15)
As the river swells threatening to overtake the banks.
"You all see that?" Bree asks as the glowing ship gets bigger. "Oh, no way you didn't see it, how could you have missed it... it's going to fall, wow, that was a long way down..." Then she sees the water coming right at her. "Oh...."
Faleon sees what Bree is talking about, and as it happens he stares in wonder at the strange sight. His eyes dart from the new flaming ship to the first ship, registering that this is what must've happened to the first, too. Failing to register the danger at first, Faleon narrates the events with a series of sound effects. He stops at exactly the same time that Bree says 'oh', having the same realisation, and also the realisation that he's realised a little too late.
"By The Great Mother.... What is that?!" Oscar would exclaim as he holds on tightly to his lantern and mace. As flaming ship slams into the water below, The small heavily armored halfling would attempt to move out of the way of the wall of water...
As the wave crashes past the ship in the middle and washes over the banks, the two of you who have managed to keep your footing can see pretty clearly 8 giant rats get washed out of the belly of the ship. Three of them manage to not get caught up in the wave and are instead swimming downriver with the rivers momentum.
With eyes following the other 5 rats caught in the wave you see Oscar and Faleon go down and get swept (5) down the banks of the river. Tumbling in a churn of water, debris and rats they end up 50 feet away being prone and stunned for 2 rounds. The rats in a pile with them are also prone and stunned for 3 rounds.
(Lucky for you guys that the rats fared worse boogie boarding :) So Gallo and Bree, you guys have basically 2 free rounds of action. The 3 rats that are swimming downriver also traveled 50 ft)
"What were those rats doing in with the puppies?" Bree asks with a frown. She runs down towards the others though. "Hey, was that fun? Wish I hadn't braced so, it looked like fun..." She realizes they are not moving as she gets closer, and sees the rats there as well. Drawing her rapier she moves towards the rats.
Both of you hit your respective rats and the rats are badly injured.
Oscar and Faleon come around this turn and are able to take actions. Everyone will get another free round of actions before the remaining rats come around.
So everyone can make attacks or whatever they would like to do. Advantage still on attack rolls for the stunned rats. You don't have to specify which rat. I'll distribute the damage in the most efficient way. We'll see if we even need to go into initiative for next turn.
(btw. you guys really lucked out with the rolls. this scene could have gone a very different way :)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Hey, you aren't dead." Bree says as the ones laying on the ground start to open their eyes. "Want to help take care of these rats so we can go back and help those poor puppies?" She then stabs a rat.
Oscar would open his eyes and spit out a bit of water. "What in the hells was that!" He would shout as he staggered to his feet. Then looking around he would gasp at the nearby giant rat and quickly bring his mace down towards the creature. "That ain't no puppy bree!" Oscar would yell as he attacks the rat.

Faleon sputters a mouthful of water as he gets to his feet. He then scrambles away from any of the rats, and catches his breath. "Alright! Target practice! Not so fun if they're not moving targets, and it would be better if I hadn't been drained in training today, but still..."
Faleon casts Fire Bolt at a not-stunned rat (It'd be disadvantage against prone rats, right, given that it's a ranged spell? So casting it against one of the 3 still swimming towards us is just a straight roll?)
(Well your roll is going to hit anyway but, no it wouldn't be disadvantage in this case because they are also stunned so it would just cancel each other out. The rats that went down the river are now 30' downstream and 15' away from the bank after 2 rounds. You can target one of them if you'd like)

Action: Dash
Move action: move full movement and draw rapier.
Bonus Action: none.
Gallo follows Bree (movement + action:dash) and picks a different rat than Bree to attack next turn.
Oscar lays sprawled across the riverbank and partially covered with bits of wood as the light from his lantern illuminates his unconscious body...
OOC: Not trying to kill my friends but would their attacks be at disadvantage if they are too far away from Oscar since He has the only light source?
Sounds good. You can both take your attacks. Both with advantage.
