OOC - Alianna may be more knowledgeable about Arcana -- based on that roll -- but she can't see the patterns unless she also casts Detect Magic. If Rastaris describes what he sees, then Alianna will discover that the ley lines coming from the runes are limited to that area.
OOC - If Farnakees jumps away, everyone rolls a Dexterity saving throw. No difference there than from moving away from the door.
OOC - Rastaris knows that the lines of power emanating from the runes are evocation magic, possibly a Lightning Bolt spell or something similar. Does he look at anything else using his arcane sight?
Rastaris studies the pattern of the rune trap and realizes there may be a way to disarm it; unfortunately, such skill in Arcana seems to be beyond his abilities.
He does learn two things about the trap, however.
First, now that the enchantment is active, the trap will trigger if any member of the party moves away from this part of the corridor (he notices that the lines of power emanating from the runes reach into the floor of the corridor). The trap will also trigger if one or both of the doors are opened.
Second, the energy of the trap is directed downwards, towards the floor. Any creature 3 feet or more above the floor when it is triggered will likely escape its effects.
Rastaris looks around the entire area, floor, walls, ceiling in the hopes of finding a magical "off" switch.
If he doesn't find any (or anything else of note), then he'll proceed as follows.
Rastaris tries to explain as simply as possible to the group on how to avoid the trap. He apologizes that it is not within his power at the moment to disarm it.
He muses for a bit before taking out his belongings. He looks at his inventory for a minute then speaks to Farnakees.
"As the strongest and tallest among us here, I'll need your help. I'll need you to use these pitons and hammer (OOC: These are on my equipment list) them into the wall. For those strong enough and with legs long enough, I will need you to see if you can balance yourselves above the floor using the pitons as footholds. If its difficult, let me know. Also let me know for those wearing armor if you can do the same. In the alternative, since the trap will probably be instantaneous, the stronger one can use the pitons as hand holds or we can craft some rope handles to attach to them and just lift yourselves off the ground (OOC: Like a pull up) before we set off the trap. In this way, we can all be at least 3 feet off the ground and be able to avoid the trap."
OOC: We can make the foot holds or hand holds more secure with rope (securing the rope either between pitons or making loops to put our feet or hands through.
OOC - The runes themselves have an 'off' switch. You suspect the mage who created them has a way to shut them down when he enters or leaves the rooms -- think of it like an Arcane car alarm. You couldn't figure out how he does it, though.
OOC - I had to check your character sheet ... yes, apparently you have hammer and pitons. I now wonder what kind of equipment pack includes those. Anyway, DM ruling is even Farnakees can't reach the ceiling. He needs to be on someone's back. More importantly, I'll also rule that you'll need 5 pitons and 50 feet of rope to create a contraption to lift ONE person at least 3 feet off the ground.
OOC: If Rast is able to show Lath exactly where the two runes are and folks think that hammering a piton into them will not trigger the trap, Lath will attempt to hang rope between the two runes, wet the rope with water, and hope that the energy is channel through the rope instead of to the floor.
OOC: Trap not triggered when Lath spiked the rune? Is a wet rope now hanging from the two runes? Are the contraptions up? If so ... we will trigger the trap. Mithrokk will kick the door. Right, Mithrokk?
OOC: When Mithrokk kicks the door, Lath will leap up and do a bit of a wall climb. I guess that'd be his DEX save against the trap.
I guess we just have to trust in fate then. I do not want Alianna to waste a spell to disarm the trap (which is not a sure thing).
As the Paladin's oath overrides reason, Alianna and I will get on the pitons to try to avoid the trap while the others will have to rely on your natural agility.
To the DM: Does knowing about the trap give an Advantage on the Saving Throw?
OOC: May I suggest whoever is breaking the door down make sure to deface the rune, just in case this trap resets.
Rastaris climbs on to the pitons. He readies himself to move when the trap goes of.
OOC: Do the lines of power on the floor only run across 15 and 16?

Farnakees tries to reach the ceiling, but can't. "I don't think that's an option, Rastaris."
He then asks the wizard. "Once the trap discharges, would it be spent? Would we need to go through it again to open the doors?"
"Rastaris, is there anything you notice about the runes themselves?" "Is there anything out of the ordinary about how they were written?"
OOC: What's the party's plan?
Before we do anything rash, I try to describe what I see to Alianna. Though he doesn't like it, the Elvish Mage may know more than he.
If that comes up empty, we'll proceed with the safety devices for two members.
OOC - You can describe it to her, but she needs to be able to see it to actually disarm it.
Lathalas chuckles then calls out: "Mellon!"
Seeing no change in the doors, Lathalas says to no one in particular, "I guess it's not that kind of door."
OOC - Nuthin happens.
OOC: Hahaha! So you’d rather face a Balrog than some lightning blast?
"Rast, can you tell me exactly where the two runes are? Are they likely to trigger the trap if we hammer a piton into them?"
OOC: If Rast is able to show Lath exactly where the two runes are and folks think that hammering a piton into them will not trigger the trap, Lath will attempt to hang rope between the two runes, wet the rope with water, and hope that the energy is channel through the rope instead of to the floor.
OOC: this is in addition to Rast's contraption.

OOC - Rastaris can tell you that defacing the runes will set them off. You can't see them, btw. Only Rastaris sees them.

Rastaris climbs on to the pitons. He readies himself to move when the trap goes of.
Lath puts away his waterskin and rope. He then readies to climb a wall.
