As they pass through the gates of Chalice and into the relative safety of the town, Rufus sighs in relief. He was never an outdoors person, he'd take a pub over a campsite any day. He turns to his three companions and asks, "Where to first lads? The inn to see if Connar returned safely? The wizardess to turn in the mineral and see if she has heard anything about Connar? Or the smith as he is on the way to the inn?"
The companions make their way to the wizards tower and are waved inside and upstairs by the guards and the skeletal ex-wizard.
Girior is standing in the kitchen, the place looks to have been recently cleaned and an older man with a long beard in a silk robe that really should be done up a lot tighter is sweeping the floor.
"We are hoping he made his way back to town." Brocc says with a glance to the town outside. "We were going to check at the inn to see if he had made it there."
"I'll take a glass of wine if you don't mind," Hatch said.
A glass is poured and handed to Hatch.
"So what do you do here? I kind of got the impression that you're more of the woman of action type when I first saw you ride in," Hatch said before taking a sip of wine. "What is your work like here?"
" Magical research, we liase a little with Gereth Yaztromo near Darkwood....but we are nowhere near his power. The lads mostly specialise in astrology, divination and the like.....I tend to, as you noted, channel the elements a little more."
" Its mostly historical and theoretical research these days."
" Honestly, its mostly a lot of drinking and experiments with various herbal compounds....our presence here was important during wartime but in times of peace we're mostly left to ourselves."
"The elements huh? We talking elements like fire or something more... smoldering?" Hatch said between sips of wine - the mild flirtation not subtle. "Seems like a good deal here, but more brain work than I think I can manage outside the drinking and herb portions of the day. How about between the research and drinking, what do you do outside the tower?"
Girior chuckled, " My magical studies are mostly restricted to fire, ice and storm.....my other studies....well, we have a tight knight community here in the tower."
" Very little, Chalice is not exactly a centre of culture."
"We still need to make our other delivery..." Brocc reminds his companions, nodding to the wizardess. "If you will pardon the short visit, but I also still wish to see if our other friend has reached the inn safely, or if we need to go out to search for him yet."
Hatch handed back the now empty wine glass. "Pardon then, perhaps we can have a more... lengthy discussion some other time?" Again Hatch's flirtation was not subtle.
Girior grinned at Hatch and waved the group off, as her and the other wizards gathered around the Truestone the group had delivered.
As the trio ( now sans Tom) exited the building they were approached by a rather dishevelled looking man with a flushed face and red nose, " You! Your the Heroes of Chalice!"
" The Turtle Man said you mob get free drinks at the Lion Inn! And me...if I bring yous."
"We have one stop to make before then..." Brocc says, glancing to the man then his companions. "We need to stop by the smith to drop off something, then we can go with you to the inn."

"Let's drop off the material first." Brocc suggests. "Wizardess and smith, then to the inn."
She looks up as you enter, " Welcome back! Wine?"
"No thank you." Brocc says with a shake of his head. He glances to the others to see what they do.
" More for me then.", she said pouring another glass.
"We have the material from the mines." Brocc says, nodding to his companion who has most of it.
" Excellent! Place it on the table."
Once they had done so:
" I've never seen the like but this is certainly what I asked you for. Thankyou so much.", she said smiling.
Her face grew serious, " I note there is one less of you with us.....was he lost to the dangers of the hills?"
"We are hoping he made his way back to town." Brocc says with a glance to the town outside. "We were going to check at the inn to see if he had made it there."
" I do hope so."
Tom coughed, " Uh...I'm wondering...would it be possible for me to stay here a while? I would like to learn some more about what it is you do here."
Girior smiled, " Of course, head upstairs to the sleeping quarters and throw on something more comfortable."
Tom smiled apologetically at his companions, " I'll look you up in a while...promise."
"I'll take a glass of wine if you don't mind," Hatch said.

The man looked disappointed.
" The smith? Off market square?"
" The Lions on the way! You can quench your thirst before you visit!"
