Rufus shakes his head no as he turns to Lindale saying, "I think it would be best if we all stay together. I think we will have a better chance of surviving and being successful in either over coming or reasoning with The Beast by working and staying together."
Lindale just nodded - it was only a suggestion. May be "not scaring people you just met with your shaping skills" is a good thing.

" We'll shoot him if he comes out but I don' tink it'll do no good."
Lindale patted huge hand with claws rivaling those of a bear and smiled "I will not run, Banzo. Not alone. But should we really just stumble inside?" She never hunted a monster before (the necrotic jello was not really a hunt) and was not sure about the procedure.

"Let's be about it then..." Brocc says with a grimace, nearly gagging with the stench. He swallowed hard though, then nods and starts inside.
Entering into the darkness of the cave the group is almost overwhelmed by the noxious stench of rotting flesh and excrement.
The cave began to open up within...
OOC: Anyone without Darkvision is going to need some light.
The light reveals a large cavern with a muddy floor and blood and dirt spattered stone walls.
Scattered among the mud were pools of black blood, broken bones and a number of small skulls.
At the rear of the cavern was a huge cleft in the stone wall which was suddenly filled by a hulking form, a two metre tall killing machine, covered in long shaggy white fur and the rusted remains of an old battle harness. Muscular clawed forearms reach out to grab prey, and its ape-like head is dominated by a wide mouth containing double rows of jagged and perpetually blood-stained teeth. Its ghostly white eyes virtually blaze with fury as it roars at the intruders.

This is a Devourer. Zharradan Marr, a half-demon warlord of the Demonic Three, once had an entire battle unit of Devourers, Clawbeasts, and Manic Beasts under the control of his undead dungeon-master Darramouss. By all accounts, they achieved much glory during the Trolltooth Wars, when ranged against the ragged forces of Balthus Dire, another of the Demonic three.

Rufus casts Mage Armor prior to entering the cave.
Upon entering the cave Rufus is startled by the sudden appearance of the beast and it's bloody appearance.

A cold wind flows about Rufus' body blowing about his clothing and hair. His blue eyes seem to dance with sparks of lightning. A small swirl of snow crystals form in his right hand as his sorcerous power manifests. He holds the gathered elemental energy to determine if the beast can be reasoned with before lashing it across it's gruesome maw with his miniature blizzard.
Action: Rufus readies to cast Frostbite on the beast. Save vs Con 13 or 1 of Cold damage and Disadvantage on next attack.
Brocc's eyes widen at the appearance of the beast and he grips his spear tighter...

Brocc has never heard of this thing before, so he simply grips his spear even tighter and strides forward, going for the attack...
Spear Attack: 21 Damage: 5 Magical damage due to enhanced weapon infusion

Seeing the tiny skulls had saddened and angered Hatch. They had said that the beast had ate kids, but there was still something about seeing the proof of the abominable act that just tore him up inside. He was going to make this thing dead. Very, very dead. Taking his battle-axe in both hands, he went on the offensive, attempting to take out the thing's legs.

A blast of ice struck the wall over the things shoulder, Hatch dived in low and hacked at its legs but as it was struck by Broccs spear it stepped back slightly and his axe went wide.
The Devourer roars and goes into a frenzied rage slashing and biting at all within reach, one of its long apelike arms flicked out skewering Brocc and flicking him up to its jaws which came together like a hungry great whites around his small form before letting him fall clear.
Lindales pebble flies true and it fixes its hungry gaze on her. Rufus' spell hit it but it barely seemed to notice.

Rufus looks on in horror as Brocc is borne of his feet and cast into the gaping maw of the beast before being expelled and cast to the ground. Rufus says, "You need the right tool for the task at hand. Demon blades for demons!"
Rufus draws two Demon Daggers from the belt behind his back where they had been concealed by his wind battered cloak. He hurls one after the other at the behemoth and marvels as the miraculous blades of the cyclopean smith ride the wind currents to strike at the beast.
Action: Rufus hurls a Demon Dagger.
Attack: 19, Damage: 7
Bonus Action: Rufus hurls a 2nd Demon Dagger.
Attack: 8, Damage: 4
Brocc is seriously injured with the claw and bite... Con save: 24
If more than 1 HP of damage with that save, he will be down, he only has 1 hp left...
On her turn - Lindale runs to Brocc: Cure Wounds 10

Hatch roars and tries to strike at the thing's gut this time.

Brocc casts cure wounds on himself
Healing: 10
Banzo>Hatch/Brocc>Devourer>Lindale>Rufus.
Banzo fired another ray of ice at the rampaging hulk but only succeeded in covering the wall in frost.
As Hatch struck at the beast it lashed out at him plunging its blackened claws through his armour and hoisting him aloft and into its cavernous jaws where it tore off an enourmous chunk and dropped his form to the floor as it swallowed.
Brocc healed himself as Hatch fell unconcious and gouting blood beside him, Lindale ran up to him but seeing him healed and Hatch bleeding out instead sent her energies into Hatch as he lay dying.
Rufus sent two blades at the beast but they missed, spinning back through the air to his hands.

Brocc strikes at the beast again...
