The barkeep begins barking orders, food and drink for the entire table will cost about a gold piece.
Rolen slides him a coin. "Might I inquire about the cost for lodgings my dear astute fellow? I've come a very long way and may need a decent bed to sleep on for the night."
((I'm back! We'll Probably be here for most of the day, with occasional interruptions.))
Erdot regards the two with some suspicion. The lizardman... put him on edge. Erdot didn't think the creature would eat him, but he didn't know much about lizardmen. The elf was polite, but that could change. He didn't understand why he payed for his meal. Maybe he wanted something from him? On the other hand, people of the World Above seemed generally nicer...
You answered the elf's questions. "I had heard there was a job in this town. I'm not with the 'guild'."
You are slightly embarrassed you still don't know what a guild is, but are taking a job from anyway. Hopefully he'll find out soon, because he doesn't want to look like an idiot in front of the client.
(( I'll be here pretty much all day, I have high school orientation later this evening, may be gone for an hour or two later.))
Lumgarsk sits at the bar, arms crossed, waiting for his food to arrive, watching the lizardman suspiciously. People never liked half-orcs, he never trusts anyone else either.

"The hero sought to save the world.
"If I keep trying, I'll be able to win," the hero thought.
But the harder the hero fought, the further the world seemed to tumble away.
Drowning in doubt, the hero could not even save themselves.
Hero, if you still believe in a brighter future, hold in your heart a thorn that can pierce all doubt."
"Neither am I, I heard they offered a job, and that's what I assumed you were here for. Unless I somehow misunderstood. Oh, and do not worry about Karst, here. He's just a bit... different. We've been traveling together for about a tenday or so, and I turned out fine." Folwyn then remember's about his leg, saying: "My leg is a different story" and showing of his peg leg.
Karst's face slacks back into a more normal shape.
"Yes! Local soft skins have problems with trees! Karst is mightier than unmoving wood. Karst will solve problem. Also friend Folwyn will help. Make sure we get handful of clinkies."
He didn't know much about the half-orc besides what little he saw outside. It probably wasn't a big deal. But he was impressed with the elf, apparently named Folwyn. In the caverns, an injury like that meant death. He didn't think you could lose a limb and not consider it a big deal up here.
((I forgot the job involved a forest)) The lizardman named Karst did confirm his suspicions though - there was a problem with the forest. Well, Erdot was here, and hopefully, soothe the forest's woes. These two, possibly three if he counted the half-orc, could be allies in this endeavor.
Wait, why was the half-orc looking at the lizard man like that? Do half-orcs not like lizard men? Do the two groups eat each other? Maybe you should have learned a bit more about the World Above from the druids, because you thought sentients didn't eat other sentients up here...
Clinkies? Ha! He's got a lot to learn.Lumgarsk thinks, his gaze leaving the lizardfolk, sweeping around the room, looking at the other newcomers.Have they come for the Golden Axe too?

Folwyn looks first at Karst, and laughs, "Close, my friend, but not close enough." Then he turns back to Erdot "Well, it was a few centuries back, so I don't remember much. I believe I was exploring a small cave system not too far from my home. I was crawling through a small tunnel when the ceiling collapsed right on my leg when I was almost out. I was stuck for about an hour before I got out, not realizing my leg was gone before it did. My parents found me and took me to the best apothecary in the city, who healed the part where it did come off, and we had a carpenter make me a leg. That, was one of the best days of my life..."
Rolen slides him a coin. "Might I inquire about the cost for lodgings my dear astute fellow? I've come a very long way and may need a decent bed to sleep on for the night."
Jocelyn enters the Tavern. After a quick glance around, she joins Rolen at the bar. "Same here." She eyes Rolen head to toe with a smirk. "It doesn't necessarily have to be a seperate bed though."
Erdot winced a bit at the story. That part about cave-ins hit a bit close to home. They were a common occurrence before he left, and he either learned to avoid fragile-looking places, or luckily escape from the few that did happen - "Wait, why do you consider that one of the best days of your life?"

"I can pay" Folwyn says, drawing a gold piece out of his bag and handing it to the barkeep.
((I'm technically here off and on for the next five or so hours. Mostly I'm just waiting on a response from Erdot.))
((I'll be here for most of the day. Apparently Erdot's been off for a while.))
((I'm just waiting for people to join my PbP... /: ))

With that Karst sits back looking at Folwyn.
"He means money." Folwyn says.

"Umm..." Ack, Folwyn picked up on your confusion! Did his face really reveal that much? Erdot needed to deflect somehow...
"How did you lose your leg?" There. That was totally a good question. And he might be able to get some important information from it.
Karst looks deeply at Erdot.
"Is this question face? It almost same as worried face. What worry you soft friend?"
Folwyn looks first at Karst, and laughs, "Close, my friend, but not close enough." Then he turns back to Erdot "Well, it was a few centuries back, so I don't remember much.
