"You could let her finish. Wish all my guests were so inspiring." The efreeti that cut Alyssa down did not react, either not understanding the words (the show was for the group, after all) or untouched by anything his victims could say or do. The slaver can not afford a soft heart, and these particular simply did not have the mentioned organ, to begin with.
E4 now looked at the ranger, that - still armed! - suddenly regained his consciousness. E3 and E1 both exhaled a frustrating sound, ready to return to their neverdying prey, when, with a flash, E2 blinked back into existence. The expression of the highest degree of irritation promised a living hell to one who dared to keep him away for so long. Who knows, the strike that brought Alyssa down could be even merciful.
Bernard opened his eyes to the most unwelcoming company of four efreeties and three unconscious bodies of his friends and companions.

For the second time, Bernard sucked back in the life giving air. This time though, it felt less strained. He rolled himself back up to sitting, and then standing position. Their odds were not great but damn if he wasn't going down swinging as hard as he could. With a wave his hand a moth forms above Alyssa and hovers, magic sparkly dust falling from it's winds above her. "we are tenacious," he says. Then launches two arrows at the most injured looking Efreeti.

The room went quiet once again, now fully dead quiet. The sigh that came from Keraptis sounded particularly loud, when he ordered, probably unnecessary: "Bring them in".
The door behind coal-black E4 opened up, the giants picked up the bodies of their victims, and one by one disappeared into the corridor behind.
The small village at the foot of the White Plume Mountain, which was turned into a garrison not so long ago, was quiet this morning. The morning before too but today it felt almost dead to Ludvick Rywiriss. He looked at the restless peak, shivered on the cold wind but did not return into the house. Instead, he walked to the guard, whose eyes also seemed to be glued to the mountain. What was the boy's name? Edgar something. Usually, the gnome scholar did not bother with the names of lesser beings but today for some reason was glad for the company. Guard did not turn but the gnome knew he heard him approaching. "They are not coming back, are they? I was so sure that group would make it. They... seemed strong." Guard's eyes narrowed. "This is so wrong! The monster just sitting in the mountain killing people and we..."
"Well, to be fair, we..." But Ludvick suddenly felt - probably for the first time in his life - that he does not know what to say. He wanted to say something about "knowing the danger" and "their choice", or talk about chances, or payments, and other banal things people deem right to say in such situations. But he realized that it did not matter one bit. Not here, in the shadow of the fortress of a madman, that taunted and killed as he was pleased. The image of the four adventurers that walked in that mountain less than five days ago came to his mind. He practically saw them, heard their voices, laughter, serious questions... He sent those young strong people to their death or something worse. Ludvick shivered again, not from the cold this time. Then he turned and silently returned to the house.
The message reached Yawning Portal yesterday but the service had to be held this evening. The event itself was not something new for the guild. So much so, that Sam could conduct the ceremony without thinking. And yet... Why did it hurt so much this time? "You are getting too soft, old-timer..." He had to talk to himself, Will was not here today. The boy refused to believe the news and run away, no doubt drinking himself to death in some tavern of the worst repute. Hopefully not literally (Sam made a mental note to scry on him later) but right now the owner of the guild had to do everything by himself. Not that it was too difficult but he would prefer to share the burden... and to have someone he could talk to (or "at" if we are honest here). Sam took another portrait from the right wall and carefully put it down. Today they will stand in the common room, and tomorrow... The left wall was getting a bit crowded. Soon, there will be no space at all. Probably time for a dedicated room? "The Chamber of Fallen Heroes" - something like that. He looked at the next portrait. "You will be remembered, friends, I promise." Portraits did not answer and Sam sighed. He knows what he will do. He will write a song, the one people will sing long after even he will be gone. Sam always kept his word - the heroes will be remembered!
Agreed! That was an epic adventure and a suitable ending for Leon at least. He would never have wished to grow old after all. Nice write up for the epilog.
*bawling* Bugs went from having no friends because he was creepy to having a group that accepted him. No better way to die than being surrounded by one's that are important to you... though death is only the beginning I seems.

Nicely written ending! That last battle really went sideways fast! Thanks for DM'ing Blue, looking forward to some new adventures now!
What's the difference between a Wizard and a Sorcerer?

Well done. Thank you for DMing Blue. Good luck and happy hunting on all adventures to come.
