Dench slings his shield onto his arm. He slides his hammer from his belt. "The Uncivil Serpent? Was that their ship?" he says to Tarina.
He looks to his colleagues. "Bribery. Two can play at that game. If any of us have any money, of course. Or, can we convince the patrons to help us defend Tarina? One of you leader-types? Tabitha or Mugen? Get the crowd on our side?" He looks back toward Tarina. "People here like you? Don't they?"
While listening, he'll move down the stairs, watching the front door.
“Not particularly. People get mad when they lose too many bets to a single person. Maybe you could wait downstairs? See if they come and if they do, kill them. The Elfsong’s staff tries not to get involved, and I believe the big girl and the rusty suit downstairs only jump in if a staff member’s in danger.”
Hearing who the staff are that can fight, Murgen will slip downstairs to them, "I hate to bother you, but we have heard about an imminent credible threat against one of your patrons. Me and my fellow peacekeepers will attempt to dissolve the situation. How ever if things should go South, I recommend having the other patrons leave. Should they attack us, as members of the Flaming Fist, I would expect you to do your civic duty and lend a hand in whatever way you can. We will remember it." He flashes them the badge he was given by Zodge and in his other hand the winnings from his gambling. "We can be very good friends." He keeps his crossbow at the ready the entire time, and is holding an action to shoot a bolt at anyone who is seems to fit what he has heard about the pirates (Do I recognize the name of the ship?).
Murgen The Uncivil Serpent sounds familiar to you. You may have come across it during your time as a mercenary. You know that it is an infamous pirate ship. The human waiter stops to listen to what you say to him, but as soon as you finish, he shrugs and keeps working. You also look around to see if anyone fits the description, but nobody sticks out to you. They’re probably not here.
When Tarina suggests that he wait downstairs, Dench pauses. "You'll want the safety and protection only my friends and I can provide, won't you." He tries to watch her and the front door from now on.
(OOC: Am I right in thinking they are about halfway down the stairs? Stopped in the stair well?)
((If Dench is trying to keep an eye on the downstairs area and Tarina at the same time, then yes, I suppose he would be halfway down the stairs. Ignace and Murgen are all the way down, and Tabitha has yet to respond.))
Tabitha will follow Murgen and Ignace down the stairs, and if possible take up a position where she can watch the street to keep an eye out for the group Tarina mentioned without leaving the tavern. If she can't watch the street from inside, she'll take a seat near the door to wait.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dench will study Tarina. He wants insight into her intentions; specifically, he wants to know if she plans to use the arrival of her enemies to escape a conversation about the Dead Three: 22.
Dench You try to figure out Tarina’s intentions, but it’s pretty hard to tell. She has a solid poker face, so it doesn’t look like she’s planning anything.
"Let's join the others downstairs," Dench says to Tarina. "Safety in numbers," he says. He tries to watch her and see if there is activity, like a large group of pirates, in the street outside the tavern. If he has to pick between either helping his colleagues or following Tarina, he will help them.
Alright. No need to divide the events since everyone is downstairs now. Tarina comes down with you, but is clearly not very trusting. As you all sit and wait, you spend some time listening to conversations. You overhear one of the patrons nearby say to another, “Who do you think’ll be the next Grand Duke with Ravengard out?” His buddy responds, “It’s probably Thalamra Vanthampur. You know what they say about her being born in the sewers, right? Apparently, she’s more vicious than a swarm of rats.”
Is there anything you would like to do while you wait? You could order a few drinks, play more Baldur’s Bones, or maybe ask around for information about a certain topic. I posted a list of approachable NPCs earlier if you want to check them out. These are examples, by the way. If you have a better idea, feel free.
Murgen limps over to the half-orc. As he gets close he listens to their conversation and when there is a lull, he takes a seat among them, making sure that he is facing the door, crossbow still at the ready. "Now you seem like a lively lot to drink with. What's yall's names? I'm Murgen, a wandering story teller always looking for new stories."
If there is room, Dench will sit next to the halfling woman with the colorful cloak. He'll sit facing the door and Tarina. "I don't want to interrupt you," he says, "but tell me about your cloak. Mine is dull ... worn ... and I'm thinking about a replacement. Where did you find yours?"
Seeing that there is no imminent danger, Ignace walks from the door to the thin man who's scribing. He sits down facing the door, if this is not possible he glances back to it every 10 seconds. "My friend, you might want to write somewhere else. Things will get pretty rough here soon."
"Who are they and why they want to fight you?"

“I told you already. They’re pirates that want me dead for betraying them during their mutiny. Ever heard of the Uncivil Serpent?”
Tabitha approached the group, and frowns, "If they have the power of bribery perhaps it would be beneficial to meet them outside,"
