Setting:
As a group of adventurers you hear a legend of an ancient maze controlled by an evil warlock named Diacht. The warlock aided by Cyric created the maze to lure in adventures with the promise of wealth and glory as well as a chance of death. He sends his minions out regularly into the landscape to acquire new 'champions of the maze' with no clear rhythm or reason nor end.
The maze itself is near the small forest town of Carrowkeel many citizens have lost as well as gained fortune from Diacht's maze. Those who have benefited from the warlock's dark magic however aren't giving anything away, literally!
So, do riches beyond your wildest dreams or death await you? Only you can find out!
More details to follow if you're picked! Are you ready to play a game?
Everyone needs to use the dice roller to roll abilities in the PM I sent then use the manual entry on the character builder. Game should begin after I check over everyone's characters and all questions about characters are answered!

So guys I've decided to ask you to go through the thread and deleteall their recruiting business so the thread will solely be game play from here on out! Please do this ASAP!
Thanks!
Meg
PS the game will soon begin!
Everyone post how you've arrived in Carrowkeel as well as a brief physical descriptions of yourself. This would also be a good time to discuss (via PMs; including me) if you already know one another.
It's now midday and although you are unsure how to get to the maze having found no maps of it or guide, it seems as if it doesn't exist! You come to the village of Carrowkeel however where Diacht minions have lured you with tales of wealth, power, and/or glory in the middle of a forest clearing but no maze is visible. Ahead of you is a narrow dirty road lined with houses of varying sizes made of wood and others are made of stone. There are five trade visible shops with signs indicating a smithy, a butcher, general goods, magic items/divination, and a tavern with an inn scattered out amongst the small village. The structures are split along both side of the dirty road facing each other separated by a lane with a well at the center and the dense forest encroaching out all sides. Walking ahead you stop in front of the first building, a blacksmith's shop where a human smith is hammering away, you look ahead of you at the street bustling with foot and cart traffic. The little forest way station of Carrowkeel you know is one of few stopping points along the Bóthar roadin the Foraoisforest between two large cities, Caorthannin the mountains in the distance ahead of you and Sul Na Mara nestled along the coast behind you. There are merchants selling their wares, townsfolk, and what looks like other armed men/women milling lazily around the streets. You also notice the races are well mixed between human, half-elven, gnome, and half-fling but no other races are immediately visible.
Everyone roll initiative to see how we will proceed... (don't forget to add your initiative bonus)

Elly is a gnome. Just over 3 feet tall. She has teal hair. She has a scar across her throat. She is in town because she heard about the riches and is in need of some money. She got a ride from a former contact.
My name is Kohl, a heavily built, deeply scarred human with graying brown hair. I hitched a ride with a merchant caravan that was passing through Carrowkeel, knowing The Black maze is probably located nearby. I'm is a gruff man, somewhat unfriendly when getting to know people, when he makes friends, they last for a lifetime. I know I'm getting old and my fighting days will soon be over, knowing The Black Maze has Lots of treasure in it, I decided that I can end it right here.
I came alone, walking along side the road into the village. After hearing that I could find more wealth than I could imagine, I was very interested.
Xurneth is short for a drow, only about four and a half feet tall, with dark skin and white hair going down to his shoulders. He often wears a hood and covers as much of his skin as possible, to hide his heritage and keep the sun out of his eyes.

"Good morning! Professor Hawthorne at your service. Black maze eh? Bound to be all sorts of fascinating secrets hidden away in there, I can't wait." I immediately start shaking peoples hands eagerly, supporting some of my weight on a cane in my left hand. I stand average height for a human, with medium length messy white hair. My age is... hard to tell, my clothes, cane, and mannerisms suggest 50-60, but my face doesn't look more than 30. That, and the subtle shape of my eyes and ears is the only real clue of my half-elven ancestry. The traveling clothes I wear look old and worn, but were once very nice. The large black raven perched on my shoulder stares menacingly at each of you in turn, completely at odds with my wide-open and friendly air. If asked how I arrived here in Carrowkeel, I stare blankly for a moment before saying "...Walked? Yes. Must've walked from the university of course. No other way. Mhmm."

Gauldring Goldenbraid is a mighty visage of dwarven glory! He is a mighty dwarf at 4'3'' with light golden blond hair (hence the name) very rare for dwarves, light skin... for a dwarf, dressed as if ready to do battle at a moments notice, and eyes of polished bronze. He looks to be made purely of muscle, grit, and stubbornness. A grizzled soldier, his looks are offset by his open and charming personality. A devoted servant of Melkor, the first smith, he seeks the black maze to destroy it's dark master and purge the lands of his wicked and foul servants, and recover Melkor's Hammer! In reality an old friend from his unit had disappeared, last seen in Carrowkeel, seeking the riches of the black maze. he walked, because he could.

This town is well off the path I was taking but if the rumor is true I must investigate this Black Maze.
Stepping out of the inn, Shadow surveys the group assembling before the blacksmith's shop. They are clearly a mismatched sort but then again, all such groups seem to be. Might as well introduce myself. Shadow approaches the group:
You see before you a tall Tiefling dressed in travelling clothes. His skin is reddish brown with some odd scales visible along the arms and collar.
with a friendly smile he says "Well met! Have you heard of the Black Maze?"
People in the village are noticing the group now lingering outside the smithy. The smith himself however does not stop in his labors but a human woman, equally as dirty from blacksmithing work, comes towards the group eyeing those with armor and those without, she seems to smile curiously at the group. She however does not call out to the group instead she walks passed with a bucket proceeding to the well at the center of the village.
The woman stops in the street and turns to face you her demeanor now very curious!
"Maze?" the woman asks her expression confused her eyes training on you curiously before looking at the others looming around you whom she assuming are your companions! "Can't say I ever 'eard of no maze around 'ere," she adds curtly before returning to her task walking with her bucket towards the well.
Professor you're up!

If she stays, I'll toss a couple of coppers to a kid in the street to go fill her bucket.
The woman stops once more in her walk to the well curiously turning to the party again to look at the tiefling addressing her. Although she's seen a tiefling before, never this close! As she looks are you curiously you then look around and notice there are no children present on the street. Funnily enough since your arrival the night before you have yet to see a child of any age infant to teen anywhere in the town!
"My name is Alandra," she answers you willingly it seems, "that's my forge behind you," she adds. "If you're needin' smithy work my husband Bael and I will oblige you but there's nothing really to tell about the town beyond what you see here," she replies looking over everyone again but her eyes rising back on Shadow. "If you're lookin' for maps 'n such of the area though Hobbs might help," she then says pointing across the street to the general store but beyond that in the distance where the forest seems to have a singular clearing you notice an oddly shaped keep, a single parapet made of black stone looming ahead behind the village. "I really must be getting back to my work," she then added insistently wiping sweat from her brow from the rising heat of the afternoon. "Good day," she adds before turning away again finally reaching the well.

You notice/hear your road companions not too far ahead. They are settled outside the tavern downing ale and talking loudly about travels with the other patrons. Dyson, the gnome merchant you rode with from Sul Na Mara, is still heading to Caorthannand is looking for other paying passengers to help him break even.

You finally seem to notice the magic/divination shop with the symbol of Azuth on its shabby sign. The townsfolk however do not seem to frequent it however it looks almost rundown in comparison to the other shops, stalls, and houses.
