The cart slams into the wall. As it does, Kellen slips out and is slammed into the wall, sandwiched between the cart and the wall. At that exact moment, an oversized crossbow bolt narrowly misses Rory, and pins kellen to the wall, slaying him instantly.
Rory and Tim take 10 bludgeoning damage.
Fortunately, the first wave of guards can't slow down in time. They aren't killed, but they cause a pileup at the entrance of the alleyway, and you can slip out the other end. The barkeep instructs you to get out of the cart, and hands you cloaks with hoods (please add to your character.)
He leads you into a back alley (please roll a stealth check)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rory, barely able to keep his feet, staggers after the barkeep. Stealth 11
Barely able to contain voicing the pain of his wounds, Rory hisses softly, "Gads, I hope th' waggon'll 'old em off fer a wee bit. Bleedin' walls ain't ver' soft, unh!"
I will have to transfer him from dicecloud, might take me a wee bit.
Oo! Oo! I just noticed the Hellfire Rapier that is perfect for a Banshee's Shadow like Rory; can he have it?It will not have any real effect on gameplay, except that it is just the thing to serve up justice to evil doers.
Since I have no spaces left for characters, Lady MacBeth is listed in Rory's notes.
Understood hilda, you fail but no crit since nobody's around. no checks are needed from wilm.
The Barkeep leads you to the safehouse without event.
You may now discuss your next moves, take a long rest, or go out into the town, nobody saw your face so you are not wanted, you just needed to get away from the scene of the crime.

OCC As Rory is a Banshee's Shadow, and it is he who will use the rapier, along will the Smoldering Armor. The Banshee's Shadows are an ancient Highlands cult rumored to have existed since almost before the were Highlands; though nobody has ever met one. They, so the story goes, serve up justice to those miscreants who seem to get away with 'murder', as it were. They always do the work in great secrecy, never telling anyone who they are or what they do or have done. Anonymous justice is their calling card.
Imagine you are a miscreant that did get away with murder most foul and someone appears, wearing smoking armor, wielding a blade that is made infernal iron and traced with veins of hellfire that shed dim light in a 5-foot-radius and is accompanied by Lady MacBeth? Clean drawers, anyone?

Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
It's my understand that the group is at an inn right now, yes? At some point they will see, sitting in the tavern, a portly, middle aged man. He has a jolly demeanor and is no doubt eating something from the inn, enjoying it's flavors and aromas. He has a small snake wrapped around his neck and he occasionally pets it, gingerly.
If one of you sit near at the bar, I lean over and ask, "what do you think of the food here? For a small inn it's not bad!" I take a large mouthful from a plate of salted meats and continuing speaking, now somewhat garbled from the food in my mouth. "Not bad at all! Of course I could do a bit better, but who knows what seasonings they're working with. Would you like to see mine?"
I open my traveling pouch and reveal that I have dozens of small jars of seasonings. "Now, these. Oh, with these I could really cook up a nice sausage."
I take another mouthful of food, chew it up and swallow it down. "Name's Aeron. Aeron Blackstone. Pleasure to meet you!"
The doors of the safe house swing open and a large, horn enters swings back and forth as it sniffs the air. As it settles into a more relaxed position the bluish tint of its scaley draconic face can be seen. Just then a rough hand touches the side of it's face and the creature mood drops from aggressive to affectionate as it nuzzles against the hand.
The owner of the hand squeezes through the door. He's a man of medium stature, shoulder length coppery colored hair with a slightly reddish orange facial hair. From his chainmail armor, sword and shield, its clear that he's a soldier of some sort. He moves in further into the room and gives a light whistle and points to the corner.
The large blue creature slowly saunters into the room. It makes it ways to the corner and will push aside any tables chair or such until it has space to sit down.
The man goes up to the first person he sees and says, "you know where I can get some meat and water?" He hooks a thumb pointing at the drake, "Stalker needs to eat."

Bang, crash, thud! And the wheels go round, and round, ouch! ouch! ouch! Let's not try this too many times.
"Blasted morons!" Rory complains at the world in general.

Tim 9 barkeep 13
Tim is as far from indescript as can be as he fails the stealth check, but the barkeep looks just like your typical villager.

OOC - Hello all! I look forward to the opportunity for my character to join the campaign!
(( Welcome BioticHamster! ))
Wincing from the impact, Hilda rubs her shoulder and follows with Rex, attempting to be stealthy.
Stealth check: 6 <-- should be natural 1 + 1
Unsurprisingly, the dwarf in chain mail and the giant lizard generate a near-comical amount of noise squeezing into the alleyway.
(( Think I messed up the roll when I edited to add the description of the results of the stealth check, the original roll was a natural 1 + 1 !))
Not sure what checks you want from Wilm. He will just be perched above, with his owl mount.
OOC:Yes, ms. macbeth may have it. let's slay them there half-orcs.

Hilda sits on the floor beside the giant lizard, starting to brush its scales.
She nods at Wilm's question, "We've had quite the evening, a rest would be welcomed."
