Both Halec and Harbek find a dotted line trail in the snow. From his viewpoint, Halec sees the trail disappears into a cave.
During the search, the scroll Halec found starts to stick out of his bag, and apparently Abygail notices it "Oh, ya found a Scroll of Language Comprehension! Aren't you lucky, those things can help you learn its said language if ya chant the... chants correctly, just be careful make one mistake, and it will give ya a nasty headache."
“I learned that firsthand. I speak a bit of Dwarven but my own attempt to use the scroll was disastrous. I haven’t had a headache like that since I was young and drank to excess,” Halec says to Abygail.
Halec then nods to Harbek, “Yes, I surmised as much as well. Let’s see what we can find in the cave.” Halec prepares his bullseye lantern if the cave is dark, attaching it to the chest piece of his armor to keep his hands free.
The cave is a dark passage made out of a mix of round rocks and ores in several cobblestone clusters. Icicles of all sizes hang from the ceiling, dripping dew down onto the icy floor. The cave takes a hard right before disappearing from the eye's sight.
Abygail responds to Halec "Hmm, it was that bad..., you could've mispronounced a word, mind if I take a peek, I know a little dwarvish myself?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“You’re welcome to do so as far as I am concerned, but, do such scrolls have a limited duration of effect? Might it be more useful when we have occasion to directly converse with a dragon?” Halec gives the woman a shrewd appraisal prior to handing the scroll over, trying to discern if she has any hidden motives. "Here. Take the scroll. Use it when the time is right. And try not to do whatever I did, the headache was most awful," Halec says, handing over the scroll.
“You’re welcome to do so as far as I am concerned, but, do such scrolls have a limited duration of effect? Might it be more useful when we have occasion to directly converse with a dragon?”
"The effects of these scrolls are permanent, that's why they're so rare and so hard to chant correctly." She examines the scroll, then shows it to you and points at a slightly smeared dwarvish word. "This one, right here, is that where ye got the headache?"
She nods "But complete fluency is not a guarantee." She looks back at the scroll "This word may look like verkleps, but it is actually buleps, the first letter looks like a V, see, only one downwards line." She points out the smeared line, pointing out it actually is the letter B.
Halec gestures to his other party members. "With that erroneous character in the text corrected, it may be possible to read this scroll to permanently learn the draconic tongue. Would any of you like to do so, perhaps someone who would like to act as negotiator with the dragons? I am willing to do so if no one else is, yes, I will risk a second awful headache, as dragons could be most potent allies in this quest. I am trained in the art of verbal persuasion, as I am a guild artisan and businessman, as well as an adventurer, but I am self-aware enough to know I lack the natural charisma of others. If someone else would like to learn the tongue of dragons, speak up now."
If no one volunteers, Halec will attempt to re-read the dwarven script on the scroll, noting the previously illegible character and attempting to read it correctly per Abygail's guidance. He winces as he reads it, as if steeling himself for another wave of mental pain, should it go awry.

Chanted words of Dwarvish echo across the cave, the scroll's letters glow with golden rays to light the entire cave. Upon finishing, the glowing Words begin disappearing off the parchment before it disintegrates to dust. Words of the Draconic language flood your head, all beginning to make sense (Halec, add Draconic to your known languages)
"I... I know the language of dragons!" Halec calls out excitedly. He then lets out a roar of difficult to decipher sounds, then adds in Common, "That was, 'I speak a bit of draconic, please excuse my poor pronunciation.' I think. Well, that's done now. Shall we proceed to investigate this cave?"
Halec gives Ohpiwalen a sardonic smirk. "So nice to have my permanent brain injury as the subject of betting. Ah well, nothing ventured, and all that. It turned out well enough. Let's see what this cave has in store for us." Halec presses on, using the lantern mounted to his chestpiece for light and moving cautiously.

"I have reason to suspect " Nasty Headache" is a understatement."
I would like to roll insight too

Halec, the brightness of her face makes it hard to see any of her truths.
Ophiwalyn, even with her (mentally) bright smile, you can see the serious look in her eyes. You see that she is actually trying to help her people.

"That would be the very one. Permanent? So in essence an entire known language in one scroll? That's extremely useful," Halec says.
