"Oh Hops, I'm sure these people don't need babysitting. Come on, let's go see what this 'coward' has in store for us." On their way towards the manor, Felix hangs back, looking back and purveying the area for any threats.
Zef nods a goodbye to the group as you all decide to head out to the Keeper's manor. Arriving at the manor, you see its an elaborate, four-story house of wood and stone surrounded by a wrought-iron fence with spikes. Looking through the fence, the yard is filled with the corpses of some sort of zombie like creature with long, claw-like fingers and pointed teeth. Some have had their flesh burned off, others are covered in melting ice, and others seem to have been blasted apart by bolts of force. You approach the gate, but as you try to open it, its locked.
Dimiter looks around for signs of damage to the house (as well as indications of life inside it), as well as indications of how the zombies were killed -- magical traps that were set off, any still-active magical defenses.
"I'd have happily stayed and cracked a cask had they any left worth cracking!" Hops chuckles to himself. "I hope everyone stays in such a pleasant mood. It's been awhile since you've enjoyed this banter with me. I do love it."
Hops appraises the fence, looking for signs of weakness and accessibility. "I might be able to climb this, but I don't want to get myself in a pickle like those dead things in there. Anyone spot a key or something worth going over for?"
Hops scans the interior yard looking for traps or a way to open the gate from the inside.
(OOC: if he doesn't spot threats or does spot a key, he'll head over and get it. feel free to make perception/acrobatics as you see fit)
Oloren calls out, “Keeper! Come out and face the people you were charged with protecting! They would have your leadership in this time of trouble! Are you afraid to show you face by the light of day?”
Dimiter sees that the manor itself seems to be in good condition with warm orange light spilling out of most of the windows, indicating someone may be inside. He does not spot any active magical defences nor any signs of previous magical defences.
The fence is short enough that anyone could easily climb over, though the spikes may cause some damage if not careful. Hops attempts to jump over the fence, but rips his leg on the way down, taking 2 piercing damage but still successfully making it over. He scans the yard but does not see any traps. The fence is in good condition and doesn't have any signs of weakness. The gate is the only way to get through and is locked with a heavy lock and chain wrapped around it.
"Huh... that's odd," Felix shrugs when no one answers Oloren's call. He will also try to scale the fence, and look around the perimeter of the manor for any signs of damage, threats, or magical defenses before knocking.

Felix climbs over the gate before Dimiter can stop him. As he turns back to Dimiter, he loses his grip at the top and falls into the yard, taking 3 piercing damage as the spikes also rip through his leg. Scanning the perimeter of the manor, he does not see any magical defences, traps or even damage.
Dimiter manages to swiftly unlock the heavy lock and unwraps the chains around the gate.
With the gate unlocked, the rest of the party make their way through easily and head to the front door. The door to the manor is reinforced with iron and has a long iron pipe with a flared end trailing down from an upper window. As Felix knocks, its silent for a few moments before the iron pipe begins to rattle and a raspy, aged voice comes through. "Who is it!? How'd you get in!? I locked the gate!"
(Urgh. The dice bot is rerolling again. It's 2 damage, Felix, in case it changes.)
“We are traveling warriors that have come to protect this town from the undead. Won’t you let us inside to speak to this town’s Keeper? Perhaps together we can solve this problem and rid your front lawn of corpses for good.”
"I am the Keeper! If you want to come inside, then you must give me something of great value! I'm not going out there where those disgusting creatures can reach me!"
"Eh, Keeper, you let us in yourself, maybe you get to keep your dignity!"Dima calls. "Respect for you is a little low about now." He nods at Hops and pulls out his lockpicks again, inspecting the door for traps or wards.
"Please, if you want us to help your town, please help us by letting us in," Felix pleads with the Keeper, holding his scraped leg. "We've been sent to rid the city of the undead, and we need to know where the Star is." He sighs. "If you are still in defiance, then tell us what item of great value we must sacrifice. I would be willing to sacrifice anything to save this city from this curse. ... But be warned, if you do not help us, then you can expect to see your town utterly destroyed by sunrise."

Dimiter Investigation: 7
"Urgh, those commoners can take care of themselves. I don't need their respect! I'm going to stay here, in my manor, where it's safe and sound. You don't need me or the Star to protect the town. Now shoo! Go kill the husks if you want to help the town." Upon hearing Felix's plead, there's a moment of silence before you hear his voice again. "Hrm. Well... if you've got a thousand gold on you, I might be willing to let you in."
As Dimiter examines the door and lock, there don't seem to be any traps or wards.
"A thousand gold seems like a steep price for a good cause," Felix tells the Keeper. Nevertheless, he pulls out the 250 gold he has left over and looks to his friends. "We're in this together," he says, as if to get them to contribute to the pile.
"I doubt the Bright Queen would be pleased to hear that the protector of a magical artifact she gave away is hiding in fear and greed." Meklit commented. "If you care about the Star so much, you may wish to treat us more politely, or else she might hear word of these events."
