With an eyebrow raised at the elderly dwarven woman, Evan shrugs and decides the dwarves can take care of their own. "Greetings, Ilecerys, I've had some pretty rough stuff on some long and lonely sea journeys--I'll take my chances." He sits down and takes a careful sip nonetheless, appraising the other adventurers around the table.
Insight (Passive = 15): 22
OOC: If any of you harbor any ill intent or have plans to eliminate your fellow adventurers to get a better share of the split at the end, Evan's Insightful gaze may detect this, and Deception would be rolled to oppose it. If you are essentially what you have presented yourselves to be, his read of you will reflect that.
I raise a hand. "don't bother. I just needed to get some fresh air is all."
OOC: can that sentence be in common but mean "does anybody speak thieves cant" in thieves cant? Like a double meaning?
OOC: If you are sending a message with a double meaning in Thieves Cant, the only PC who will understand the shared coded language of rogues is Nanoc the Younger, who will respond as he sees fit.
The six of you are now assembled in the Saloon, the whisky bottle now only about half full, down from the three quarters it started at. After scraping the graffiti from the table, the barkeep left, leaving the six of you alone, two human males, Evan and Nanoc, a half elf male, Ilecerys, an elf male, Galtheon, an elf female, Kerina, who has returned, and a tiefling female, Taraven.
If the barkeep chiseling away the graffiti damaged the symbol of my deity, I reinforce the carving.
Regardless, gesturing to the new divot in the table: "what happened here?"
OOC: Most likely the best fitting deity in this setting for your character is Olladra, one of the Sovereign Host pantheon, known as "Lady Luck," a deity of good fortune often worshipped by gamblers and rogues.
The bartender took care to scrape well away from the carving of Olladra's symbol, as to deface the emblem of the deity of luck could invoke bad luck
OOC: I was thinking Lliira as her deity, because Kerira used to steal to survive, but now she primarily steals because she thinks that it's fun. I could change if you think it makes more sense.
Update: I have decided that your pick makes more sense
Looking around the table at the others, Evan senses no obvious intent to double-cross the team, and he relaxes a bit, letting them introduce themselves as they see fit. Suddenly, he starts and smiles broadly, saying, "Ah! A carving of Lady Luck! A good omen for our quest, then, once Ironeyes shows up." Evan pours himself another shot of the dwarven whiskey, sitting back and smiling, satisfied that his patron deity is smiling on him and this quest.

Those with passive perception 12 or higher hear the sound of a horse approaching the trading post, and through the windows you see a dwarf-sized hooded form on horseback, also leading alongside him a pack mule, heading to the trough to tie up his animals prior to entering. This is likely Okkar Ironeyes, your client, based on the number of travel provisions his beasts are laden with.
OOC: You may continue to talk among yourselves until he enters the scene, and after, of course.
"Why yes, fair lady, Lady Luck has guided my steps and my sails for many moons," he remarks, in somewhat accented Elvish, pulling his shield from his shoulders and showing his shield with the emblem of the black dragon, a depiction of Olladra in her draconic form. Now that you can see it closely, the dragon stands on a bed of tumbled dominos, her more typical icon. "Pleased ta' meet a fellow worshipper."

"I could not tell you, fair lady, as the defacing seems to be in a different place on the table than this more recent carving of Olladra. If there was another carving there, I can no longer make out what it is," he answers in Elvish. Switching to Common, he continues, "In any case, I don't think we have been properly introduced. My name is Evan."
Common: "Hello Evan, I am Kerina." Elvish: "The location of the divot, as I now recall, previously held a particularly profane carving. Did you, by any chance, spot what prompted its removal?"

"Soon after I arrived, an elderly dwarf seemed to be upset at a carving. I assume it is the one you mention, as the barkeep was removing it as I was introducing myself and preparing to sit down," responds Evan, who is now curious what the carving was but unwilling to ask, so as not to offend Kerina's apparently delicate sensibilities.

OOC: I'll roll it for you. Evan is not quite an open book emotionally, but he is not trying to hide anything right now:
Deception: 6
OOC: Ha! And a good thing too! You can almost see the gears turning in his head, trying to decide what a delicate elven lady would consider "profane" compared to his experience as a seasoned sailor.
Through the window, you all can see the dwarf dismount and tie up his horse and pack mule. He proceeds to the main entrance, where he exchanges some words with the dwarves inside the trading post area, prior to entering the area designated as a Saloon.
On entering through the cloth barrier, he removes his travel hood. Okkar Ironeyes is a male dwarf, roughly 150 years of age. His skin is ruddy from the sun and wind, and bears numerous small scars and wrinkles. A hammer and tongs shaped brand adorns his left check, which anyone trained in Religion recognizes as the symbol of the deity Onatar, god of craftsmanship and the forge, one of the Sovereign Host, the same pantheon as Olladra, the deity of Evan and Kerina. His hair and beard are dark brown, speckled with dirty blond strands, and his eyes a clear amber color.
He stays a bit awkwardly for a moment, surveying the six of you, as if trying to match faces to names of the people he has contracted.
