We're running White Plume Mountain converted to 5e. It's been voted in the top 10 best all time modules from various places. 2 of the players were new and just ghosted. The other 2 in the campaign are good players who post frequently and have been developing their characters well. We are fortunately not very far in and I can bring in your character seamlessly and give you the relevant information to get you up to speed in the campaign pretty quickly. The characters that are being replaced are Rogue and Barbarian. You don't have to choose those classes but something similar in terms of role would be best.

There are some race/class restrictions. Race from SRD/PHB only. No home brew, critical role, play test, magic, eberron or rick and morty. You are welcome to use a character you already have. If you are creating one it will be standard array or point buy with average HP. You can choose 1 uncommon and 2 rare magic items. Also 2 uncommon potions. Any mundane equipment is available. Multi class is fine.
(This is a short module with some unique magic, good puzzles, traps and tricks and some hard encounters along the way)
Intro:
Search ye far or search ye near, You’ll find no trace of the three Unless you follow instructions clear, For the weapons abide with me.
North past forest, farm, and furrow You must go to reach the feathered mound. Then down away from the sun you’ll burrow— Forget life, forget light, forget sound.
To rescue Wave, you must do battle With the Beast in the Boiling Bubble. Crost cavern vast, where chain-links rattle Lies Whelm, past waterspouts double.
Blackrazor yet remains to be won Underneath inverted ziggurat. That garnered, think not that you’re done, For now you’ll find you are caught.
I care not, former owners brave, What heroes you seek to hire. Though mighty, each shall be my slave Or vanish into the fire.

White Plume Mountain has tentatively been identified as the “feathered mound” mentioned in the poem. Sages further agree that the “K” signature refers to Keraptis, but most insist that the writer must be an impostor. After all, who can believe the note really comes from the magician of legend after 1,300 years? The former owners of Wave, Whelm, and Blackrazor have each outfitted a group of intrepid heroes to take up the challenge. Your party is one of those groups.
When Riikan Dack, a wealthy collector of rare art objects, hired you to recover a weapon stolen from his vault, he offered your group 12,000 gp—a reward sizable enough to dissuade you from asking too many questions. He showed you the boastful note left by the thief—supposedly an ancient wizard named Keraptis—and told you that his sources had pinpointed your destination (the “feathered mound” named in the note) as a volcanic peak called White Plume Mountain. Days later, you found yourselves scaling the south slope of the mountain. You soon located an entry tunnel leading into the rock and emerged in a cave that actually seemed to breathe, exhaling a large cloud of steam and then slowly inhaling again, like a man breathing on a cold day.
Flen is a soldier at heart. He meets things head-on and uses magic to supplament his fighting skills.
When he was fairly young, as far as dwarfs go, barely into his first century, he befriended an old wizard while out on a scouting mission for his king. The old wizard needed a place to build a tower, and Flen brought him back to his king, who agreed to let the old wizard build a tower in his domain. Flen spent quite a bit of time after that, learning from the old wizard and finding ways to add the magic he learned to his fighting style.
When Riikan started to recruit adventurers to retrieve a stolen magic weapon, Flen was a bit hesitant to respond to the request, knowing it would take him away from his homeland for some time. His wizard friend eventually talked him into going, asking Flen to find out what he could about the person behind the letter, especially if it was the ancient wizard as some thought it might be. Eventually Flen agreed to go and set out for White Plume Mountain.
One defining personality trait, or a backstory: Lerissa grew up in a city that was cosmopolitan enough to accept her appearance, even if it was with occasional suspicion. Nevertheless she was able to fall into a group of friends that often got in trouble together. When her nascent tiefling abilities also appeared to include additional magic, the trouble just got more complex. Running scams, lying, cheating, stealing was all included and all in fun. Eventually she learned to create fake identities and stories to lure in or distract the foolish and unwary. While she loves valuable and shiny things and comfortable living, the reality is the journey is more fun than the destination. She has no problem abandoning her ill gotten gains for the chance for adventure and new ways of testing her limits. Searching for treasure sounds like the next fun thing.
Personality and Backstory: Practical and usually to the point, but a great and loyal friend once you get to know her.
Sif was an orphan. She never knew who her birth parents were, but she was adopted and raised by a tribe of barbarians and hunters. Her adoptive parents, a pair of half-orcs, taught her the tribes ways, and though she couldnt fight like an orc or larger human could, she learned to strike with that same ferocity through her arrows. When she became of age, she left the tribe to travel, in order to bring back her own stories to tell. During these travels she met an elven woman named Aerra who taught her how to refine an dimprove her archery, especially her accuracy. It was thus same mentor who brough her into the journey to White Plume Mountain.
I just closed recruiting. Thanks everyone. There's enough here to choose from. I'll let the two chosen know by PM. If you weren't chosen, nothing personal, maybe next one :)
One defining personality trait, or a backstory: (something that makes your character special :): Orphaned and growing up on the streets, Org did what he needed to survive. He eventually was part of a street gang in running from both The Watch and rival gangs, eventually caught by both at one time or the other and beaten. Org eventually got tired of the beatings and heard there was an old Gladiator named Brakus on the streets, Org determined to learn how to fight. He found Brakus living under one of the towns bridges and got a beating for trying to convince Brakus to train him. It took a month of beating and rejections before Brakus took the half elf in and after 3 years Org hit the streets as a sell sword and fighter. Org had a few successful adventures but never found a party he stayed too long with. During this time, using some of the training Brakus taught him, Org tapped into something deep inside himself, something magical. Org found he could cast spells as well as fight and he traveled, trained and adventured, discovering more about himself and his true power. Last month Org heard a rumor that Brakus is missing. he went to Brakus' old haunts and bars and hasn't found him yet. The search goes on.

When you say basic classes and races, do you mean only SRD (such as only thief subclass for rogue) or PHB only or something else?
