Usul, doing a bit of daydreaming, is shocked back to reality when the earth starts to shake, the creatures start to appear, and the chaos happens. While he sees some run away, and some run towards, he hesitates a minute, and remembers back to a friend he met on the road, and what he would have done. He's not ready to fight exactly, but he needs to know what is going on. He looks over to Snurk with a questioning glance to mean "Are these more of those that were hunting you?" and runs south and east to get just up by the building ((just outside where Stanley's marker is)). There, he casts minor illusion to create the image of a barrel (or bag of grain, or something that would fit in here) and disappears into the illusion to be unseen.

Snurk does his best to climb and jump up as high as he can get.

From his position inside of a fake barrel and sitting about 70 - 90 feet from where the action is originating, plus all of the palm trees, people, and picnic tables between Usul and the water, he doesn't see much other than people running from the beach. He does, though, successfully hide himself from anyone passing by. The only way, right now, that someone would find him is if they bumped into the barrel to discover that it isn't a barrel.

Snurk is able to jump 13' into the air if he's jumping straight up; and is he jumping to try and get perspective so that he can see what's happening?

Grung are able to get 15’ in the air from a standing jump. 😂 but he is simply following his natural inclination to seek shelter in a tree. There are no trees, so he’s climbing a building.

At the sound of screaming, Stanley leaps from the bed and peers out the window.  He can see movement and people running in the distance, and the waves.  "Darla," he says to himself as a thought.  Grabbing his necessities, he runs out the door and heads to where she should be.

From his vantage point, Snurk can likely see a good deal. Which direction is he looking? (This is important to what he is seeing.)

Rubbing her forhead as Stanley helps her stand, she shakes her head a bit. "It's fine, it's fine, and I haven't the faintest, sweetling, but that's nae the real issue. Some kinda strange folk're comin out the water." As she speaks, she turns, holding onto Stanley's hand and pulling him along behind her. "Some folk may be hurt, and we ought tae help where we can, but I dinne care for findin' out what these ocean folk might do tae the lot of us if this is how they make an entrance."

"Strange folk comin' out of the water?" Stanley repeats. "Hmm..." he ponders on that.

"Darla, can you describe those people coming out of the water a little better for me?  You said they were strange...I may have read something on them somewhere."

For Stanely:

"I dinne damn well stay to gawk at them, but best I could see, they had fins and teeth like a fish." As she finishes speaking they reach the outside of the Inn, into the open air tavern area overlooking the beach. Darla looks around(perception check: 21 ), taking in the situation as best she can.

Which direction, specifically, is she looking - North, South, East, West.

(The inn is to her back, so pretty much every direction but North. She's panning her head left to right taking in everything she can in visible range from the taverns open air first floor.)

Usul's illusion will last 1 minute, as this spell is innate to his race, he knows it's timing very well, and will wait the time out in his barrel watching. If he saw where Snurk went, and his minute is up, he would dash to the tree under him and try to hide there to see what his companion can see. If he sees something before his illusion disappears... ((it depends on what he sees ^^ ))

I just need to know what direction Snurk is looking. Once nschrock has a chance to comment, I'll fill him in. In the meantime, I'll put Usul under the same tree Snurk is in since it has likely been at least a minute, already.
