You move through the tunnel silently, save for Alax tripping on a rock once or twice. Then you see light at the end of the tunnel. From the end, you hear what sounds like a human voice. There is also some angry or confused yelling; definitely not human. Once you get close enough, you see what looks like a lab. There is a human standing around some kobolds (5), but they seem to be worshipping him, bowing and yelling prayers.
’My faithful servants,’ the human begins, ‘we may have tried yesterday, and the day before that, but today! Today we will not fail! Through these noble humans’ joyous sacrifice and yours He will not fall!’ The kobolds then go silent, and stand up. The human starts to speak incoherently, and a small, but very bright, fire on a stone table... or maybe altar. The room was already loud, and now it becomes even louder as the human pulls out a well kept and jeweld dagger and they all start chanting as one in Draconic, ‘We are to sow death so life can be remade’ over and over again.
(I’m not sure if this spell or what I’m looking for is actually in D&D, so I just went ahead and home brewed it. I don’t have any of the books, and finding it on D&D Beyond would be a pain)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ekane groans as the others jump in immediately, but she quickly follows suit. As she whispers, purple energy, tinged with streaking bolts of lightning, flows out of her ring. Ekane releases the energy, sending a crackling ray of purple energy streaking towards an unhurt Kobold. (Eldritch Blast) Ekane then runs forward towards the Kobald.
(Meta: Attack: 12 Damage: 4 (If Ekane is an unseen attacker (24 stealth), I roll with advantage on the attack) Attack: 23Damage: 12 Movement: if possible, up to ten feet away from the Kobold she fired at. (Only has 30 ft. Movement) Initiative: 9)
(Edit: I accidentally rolled damage twice - I believe it's only the attack the is rolled twice)
Alax will run towards the nearest unharmed cultist and slash with his sword18=attack 8=damage
he will then attack with one of the shortswords 13= attack 5= damage initiative: 8

Dorceran easily cleaves the kobold’s head off, and the fire engulfs another one. To your surprise, Sylvalur’s arrow seems to be taken from the air by some sort of force. It’s moved off course at the last second, and the kobold is unharmed. Ekane’s blast sends a kobold hurtling through the air, and is definitely dead when it hits the wall. As Alax swings both blades, like Sulvalur, one is almost thrown out of your hand by some force. However, your sword strikes true, and that leaves one remaining kobold and the human.
Both cultists are looking very surprised. Then, the last kobold throws himself onto the small fire on the table. The human sees this, raises his knife, and swiftly cuts the kobolds heart out. He stuffs it in his mouth, before he and the kobold are completely and instantly engulfed in that bright fire. It spreads through the stone floor and table as if on a trail of gunpowder, and it even smells a bit like the ground is burning. The fire will soon reach you.
(I rolled a 21 for initiative, and usually I’d give that to y’all, but I just reallt wanted to do this)

You make your way back through the tunnels, and when you reach the room with the dead beast, fog has filled the room. Going further back, you find that the end of the tunnel is how you found it, except you now see where Zenara went. She is huddled in a corner, whimpering. Another thing you notice is that it seems oddly bright outside.

Sylvalur turns to the group and in hushed tones, "Shall we find out whats happening here, or just kill this creep?"
“I think we need him. Get his dagger and catch him. Kill the rest.”
Dorceran rushes in and starts swinging his rapier at a kobold with a breath of magic in the swing as he casts green flame blade

Meilanann, late to the party, reaches the room just as the fire is spreading toward the group. He turns and starts running back down the tunnel.
Sylvalur
Back out quickly, following Meilanann out of range.
“Well that was unexpected,” Dorceran says under his breath.
Dorceran then casts mage hand to draw the dagger from the man and bring it to himself, before running after the others.
