Player Timezone/Availability: UK (GMT), huge availability; though I have concerns if most players are US based, I'll be asleep when most action is going on. Character Name: Thia Moonsong Character Race: High elven. Character Class: Fighter (headed towards Eldritch Knight) Character Backstory: Thia was born and raised in the High Forest in the Sword Coast. She's been training in the blade and spell since she was little and has grown quite adept. As soon as she was old enough she enlisted in the High King's scouts. She has been trained in stealth, tracking and foraging and of course is observant as an elf.
Hilda was an old adventuring companion of Thia's mother. What is really worrying to Thia is that her mother was also killed in the same attack that killed Hilda, and was also raised by the same cleric. So what has happened to Hilda is a worrying indication of what her mother might soon face. In fact, Thia's mother was too sick to attend this funeral, so Thia has good reason to find out what is going on and solve it if possible!
[Note I just read the other backstories and see that SneakySnakes/Waylon also has a parent who was an adventuring partner of Hilda's. We'd have something in common...]
Player Timezone/Availability: AEST. Always available, I don't sleep much. Character Name: Fen Character Race: Eladrin Character Class: Bard Character Backstory: Fen was a local performer, one of Hilda's favourite. Hilda was almost like another mother to Fen. He spent most of his free time listening to stories about Hilda's adventures, so naturally his performances were strongly based on these. He always told her he was going to go on his own such adventures when time called. Hilda's loss hit him hard but was no surprise. Fen was there to take care of her as much as he could, but he knew he was watching her slowly die. He swore to himself he would do anything to stop this damned curse..
Back Story: In long ages past, Kai's parents traveled into the far far east where they were they were believed as being mystical beings. Though the love of nature still permeates his soul, he did not follow the druidic calling of his parents. Instead, he spent years among the eastern humans learning the ways of the bushi. Finally, he has decided to return to the lands of his ancestors and acquaint himself with the lands of the west. It was on his travels that he met and accompanied Hilda for a time, and from here learned much of the lore and politics of these regions.

Character Name: Anlizi Oltis Character Race: Fallen Aasimar Character Class: Paladin Character Backstory: Anlizi cannot remember how she came to be in the Shadowfell, only that she was there long enough to feel the pull of the Raven Queen's influence. Her life had been like this for years when an adventuring party with Hilda Cere in their midst came to the Shadowfell. Anlizi left that bleak realm with them, though she did not leave behind her service to the Raven Queen. The material plane was rife with undead that could not be allowed to continue. Player Timezone/Availability: MDT/Available all day, pretty active Character Name: Hammond Blackgrove Character Race: Human Character Class: Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline) Character Backstory: To most casual observers, young Hammond Blackgrove seemed to have it all - he came from one of the wealthiest noble families in the kingdom, he was handsome, dashing, a master elocutor and performer... it seemed like nothing could go wrong for him. Until one day, out of the blue, his family publicly disowned him and threw him on the street with nothing more than a couple of knives and a traveler's pack. The news was a shock to the kingdom, but in the weeks that followed, the true horror of the situation arose - Hammond was a sorcerer, who wielded strange draconic magiks. What most folks don't know, however, is how Hammond discovered these powers. It's not unusual for most noble lords to have a lover or a mistress, but Hammond's lover was far below his high station, a mere chamber-maid to his aunt. When his father found out, he ordered Hammond to be whipped as a punishment. Four guards escorted Hammond into the woods behind his manor. Only Hammond returned, his clothes scorched and his back horrifically burned. The guards' charred bodies confirmed his parents' fear, and now Hammond walks the kingdom as a lowly traveler, desperate to find some way to restore his family's trust in him.
Hammond met Hilda during his travels on the road - unlike most of the folks he met, she seemed interested in his strange powers. They adventured together for a time, until Hammond was badly injured during a fight with some kobolds. During his stay at the local inn, Hilda confessed that she had a desire to keep moving, and the two parted amicably, though they still keep in touch.
