Nebulas takes 2 silver out of his pocket and sets it on the bar, "thanks for the food, and the info." After paying he stands up grabs his stuff and heads for the door. Nebulas is going to walk around town and look around, while making his way to the helix guild.
Belch will follow Nissa to our destination. As he walks, he makes sure not to get close to anyone or come in contact with any passers-by. If anyone gets closer enough to touch him, he will actively and noticeably dodge out of the way.
“Mmm I was discombobulated from mmmy family in the war. Was found by a transcendent refugee mmmoving here to the city.” He dodges out of the way of an oncoming individual.
You both find yourself in Western Sharn at an interesting little hole in the wall pub named Fanny on the Hill. All of the establishments in this area are small and cramped as though they didn't think things out well when planning this portion of the city. Because of this, most of the business are individual ran or at least small businesses such as the Sturdy Seamstress, Don't Ask Leathers, and the Affordable Formal Attire shops. The front of the pub is green with gold trim around the door and 2 windows. Once inside there is yet more green to assault your eyes in the long and narrow building with a bar that seems to run the entire length with the expected shelves of bottles behind. At the very end of the bar are a few tables in the small space that just allows them to fit, and there's a boisterous and happy feeling throughout the crowd that very nearly fills the place. Most of the patrons seem to be halflings and gnomes but you do see other races such as satyrs about. 4 bar tenders in total service the length of the bar, all halflings.
How do your characters show up and what will they do?
( Ahh sorry about the coordination mistake)
Colt will enter like he did in my previous comment, and strike up a conversation with one of the gnome staff. With an eye on Valzes, he’ll ask with a wink: ‘Now, I don’t recognise that face. What can you tell me about it’s owner?’
As you begin making your way through the lower section of the Menthis Plateau, there are dirty alleys to either side of the street for every building containing 2 to 3 shops, or at least some are, as several are either abandoned or boarded up, which could serve as useful hideouts if ever necessary. Ladders are very common on the sides of most every building. From your travels into the city the day prior you noticed that even when the sun reaches it's highest, it still only partially reaches through to the lowest sections of the city between the tall buildings so close together, so the alleys are always dim. There's the occasional sign on a store front but most shops just have an open door where you need to venture inside to even see what they offer. This section of the city is simply a place to live for the refugees that were accepted in but don't have much to offer or are too old to start all over again. You finally reach a divide in the path with a sign that reads,
As you are traveling together along the pristine paths of Northedge in the Upper City and carrying on your conversation, you pass uniformed guards patrolling and see more stationed periodically throughout the area. Since the time of day that the 2 of you set out was later, most shops are either in the process of closing, or have already closed. There aren't very many alleys here as it seems entire blocks are just large buildings sectioned off for individual uses, but even the few alleys here have their own lanterns and appear clean. There are still a good amount of citizens out and about, some presumably shop owners heading home, and some dresses to the nines apparently headed to some event or maybe a date. One young tiefling man dressed as such and carrying a large bouquet of pink and purple flowers is running down the sidewalk towards you not appearing to notice you over the obstruction, and just before reaching you sees the impending crash and attempts to stop, only to trip and begin falling right towards you both. What do you do? [Give me a brief summary explaining your action and I'll see what roll is required]
"Why thank you very kindly my lady! It is truly a pleasure to serve you. Now the Mystic Helix you inquire about is a very large and popular guild of... I suppose mercenaries would be the word to call them, though that term is such a loose catch all that I'm afraid it has taken on some darker connotation than I would personally apply to that particular guild. I myself have required their services once before in locating a family relic that had been lost during the twilight of the war. The relic itself was worth more than the fee they required, yet they recovered it and returned it to me with a smile... I'd half expected a demand for more compensation less they simply keep or sell it, but no such issue occurred. Therefore I have the utmost respect and gratitude for them and highly suggest them for any service you may be requiring them for"
(No worries, this process just helps characters form bonds individually before all grouping together and it gives a potential "buddy" system so the character doesn't feel like they're the only newbie and they have someone more comfortable to bounce things off of)
The waiter turns to the direction you indicated and being that there are mostly halflings in the establishment at this time it's fairly easy to guess the subject of your interest. "The lady at the table I presume? I haven't personally served her, but I do know that she was here when my shift came around last night and rented one of our rooms, beyond that she seems quiet and nice, but I'm afraid that's all the knowledge I have on her. Would you be wanting a drink by chance? I would be happy to get you anything you'd like"
"Good to hear that it is not some evil gang or something. I'm thinking about sign up to the guild." She looks at her pouch. "I'm in need of coins now. So can you tell me where it is?" Valzes pauses for a moment. "One more thing. Erm. May I ask what is your family relic is? Can I... have a look at that?" She cannot suppress her curiosity about artifacts.
The path that leads to east middle city is a gradual incline at first but then curves around to a wide and relatively steep set of stairs that continue the curve and after 40 feet or so they end at a landing revealing notably better kept streets and buildings. They aren't the finest you've seen, but the fact that there is clear signs of some upkeep make it a vast improvement over what you passed in the lower city. At this point the sun is about an hour from midday, and there's crowds shifting around all over this area between one shop and the next. Here you begin seeing signs for smiths, leather workers, pottery, tinkerers, food stands, toys, woodworkers, etc... The path continues heading east in a very gradual curve and eventually you see a larger and more elaborate sign naming the area Tavick's Landing. Just beyond this is another that reads "Brookery & Byrns Tavern".
He seems a bit surprised, but takes it all in stride, "Well I personally would call them heroes, but that's me. And it's dangerous work I imagine, but you appear in good health, so perhaps it is for you" He pauses a moment, then reaches into the folds of his tunic to present a marvelously intricate golden sphere on a heavy chain around his neck. There are runes etched into every surface and the longer you look at them, the more they appear to shift and move and you have to shake your head a bit as you feel it drawing all your attention in and there's a touch of vertigo. [Roll an arcana ] "I keep it with me always after getting it back... you see, it's the only thing left of my family after that horrible war. It belonged to my father, and was passed down from his father, and on and on that way. They always said that as long as one of us has this that the family will survive and thrive" He finishes and then stuffs it back into his tunic. "Sorry, didn't mean to tell my life story there, it just seems to flow out when I start on it... Not exactly something that gets talked about much around here, I mean everyone lost something"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
15Arcana"Very fascinating relic." She looks at the waiter and smiles. "That's alright! I like stories you know? And I also like relics and artifacts and ruins too!"
[You know there's a very powerful magical effect bound to that item, but you don't get enough of a chance to investigate the runes, though you aren't sure more time would have helped as it was so difficult to focus on them at all]
"Well thank you dearly for hearing part of mine, sometimes that sort of thing brings life back into focus. Well, I better check on others now" He gives a slight bow with a genuine smile and heads off to check on other patrons.
Nebulas decides to head to the brookery & byrns tavern, as he is getting thirsty from all the walking. He also thinks to himself, "maybe I will run into some people that can give me more information."
Almost instinctively, Nissa pulls a feather from a bag at her hip and speaks an incantation, hopefully slowing the man's fall and giving him a chance to get back on his feet.
Valzes waves goodbye to the waiter. After that, she picks up the fork, sticks it to a piece of bacon, and starts putting it to her mouth, while her other hand is holding the book and she continues reading.

When walking around, nebulas looks for important landmark and get away routes. Always planning ahead and being vigilant.
"Thank you. That would be all." Valzes reaches into her pouch. She hesitates for a moment then pulls out 5 cp and gives them to the waiter as a tip.
"That's what I got for now. Hehe." She smiles to hide her embarrassment. "Anyway, do you know where the Mystic Helix guild is?"

"Do what brings a Grung to the City of Towers?" Nissa asks as they walk.

Once reaching a divide in the path nebulas contemplated for a while before deciding to go toward east middle city.
