"We wouldn't know what your things are," Fianna answers in Elvish. "I think it's just us and you left on board. Are there more of you we should be looking for? The crew is all dead or fled, the lizards also voluntarily went overboard after snatching up... Something."
"Just who are you anyway? And how did you come to be a captive on this ship?" Fianna asks.

"Just who are you anyway? And how did you come to be a captive on this ship?" Fianna asks.
Oceanus responds in Elvish to Fianna:
"My name is Oceanus," he says. "I am alone. I represent the tribe of Manaan. We are an undersea settlement southeast of here."
"Several times my tribe has noticed the travels of this vessel at night in this area, supposedly deserted. I was ordered to keep watch on this area. I secreted myself aboard and while in port east of here I witnessed the stowing of a small arsenal of weaponry aboard. Unfortunately, I was discovered, knocked out, and taken prisoner. I woke up here, chained to the ship’s hull. They took my gear."
"Sorry to hear that... I can assure you this ship, at least, should be done troubling you after tonight. Most of it's crew dead, a few swimming off to who knows where. But this ship is done" Fianna says in Elvish.
Switching to Common, Fianna asks "Anyone seen this guys gear?"
"What ty..." Fianna starts but then remembers to switch back to Elvish. "What type of gear was it? Do underwater people wear armor?"
<Most of these pirates will not be missed, I expect. The hook-handed one was a sadist; the captain, a tyrant. The bountiful sea is better off without them. As to my gear: I had a little leather, my dagger, my spear, my crossbow - nothing I can't replace. I am looking for a good trident, frankly. What I saw of the cargo was mostly swords and morning stars, from what I saw.>
Dain would like to be nearby when the elf is unlocked. Just in case. I think the hold is next to Oceanus holding cell - or pretty nearby anyway. If so Dain will busy himself looking at the stuff in there, specifically the crate of gear for the mine. What's in it?
The crate is mostly full of drill bits and associated attachments, for use on various types of hard rock. Specialty equipment for big mining operations. Specialized, expensive, and not terribly useful at sea. But very definitely what the Mining Company had ordered and was expecting, and assumed lost in delivery. Copperlocks was still furious about it, Dain recalls.
"I'm thinkin' we may get ourselves some sort o' reward from the mine for returning this stuff," Dain tells the group. "Maybe ol' Copperlocks will be a bit less grumpy anyways."
Katernin smiles and watches the parrot. "How long have you been locked up in your cage?"
The parrot chatters at Katernin:
<Ages and ages. I remember flying. And eating live fish. Are the lizard humans and their dragon bird nearby? They scare me. Do you have more food?>
Fatigue is beginning to set in upon the party. It's well after midnight. It's quite cold and very dark. The ship strains against its anchor in the gusty winds.
"I wonders if it would be safe ta bed down the night on here? Do we think them lizard things will be back with more of their mates? Or does we need ta head back ta town, sharpish?"
Fianna explains to Katernin that the lizards had a pseudodragon with them, similar to FinFin. “I’m not sure if it was a familiar, like my FinFin, or an ordinary pet...”
“As for where we stay, I think anywhere we get to before sleeping would likely be easily found if someone came hunting after us. At least on board they’d need cross the water and climb the side first?” Fianna suggests. “We set a watch and we watch for ripples in the waters...”
Kelnan picks out a nice coastal map as a souvenir - it features a small island called "Harpy Rock", where nearby someone has penciled in a crude little drawing of a ship labeled "Marshal." He then heads next door and examines the locked, wooden, brass-bound chest. He looks around the tidy cabin for keys. There's a single bunk, made up with bed linen, has its head against a bulkhead running along the centerline of the ship. A polished wood table stands in the center of the room, bolted to the deck. On the table is a silver bowl containing an assortment of fruit, a silver carafe half full of wine, and an empty silver goblet. Set at the table are two upright wooden chairs and a padded leather chair. Beside the chest is a pair of highly polished black leather boots. From the center of the ceiling, over the table, hangs an unlit hooded lantern. On a peg behind the door hangs a maroon robe. Where and how will Kelnan search the cabin for keys?
(Could have sworn I responded but I guess not!)
Kelnan smiles in appreciation of a well-kept room, but shudders as it reminds him of his cabin on the slave ship. He sees well enough in the dark, but lights the lantern to aid searching. He pokes through the robe for pockets, examines the boots for compartments in the heel, bends down to check the underside of the table and chairs, unmakes the bed to look underneath the mattress and carefully folds the sheets.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kelnan makes a thorough and methodical examination of the cabin. Investigation (with advantage, for his approach): 24
Examining the boots reveals a small hidden compartment in one of the heels. The compartment contains a brass key. The search turns up nothing else of particular interest. The maroon robe appears to be of no particular value, and its pockets are empty.
“Can we even get off this boat? Elbow mentioned a dingy, but not enough room to carry much of this.” Molo looks around a little helplessly, pulling on his tiny horns
"We can get off. The cargo is a different matter... Though as the town planned on keeping the cargo and we were only to be granted what they considered 'personal items' from the pirates, I say we leave it here. We can let them know where to find it," Fianna suggests.
"I be up for that," says Dain. "I will take the first watch if ye want to get some sleep. Mayhap things will look a bit simpler in the morn."
There are four cabins containing four cleanish beds, plus eight hammocks in the crew quarters, and three more in the lizardfolk cabin. Who's sleeping, and where? Will there be a second watch?
Fianna, and a resummoned FinFin will take a watch. She suggests that nobody sleep alone - just in case. But otherwise there's no reason not to take advantage of beds.
Oceanus looks at Molo blankly. Although Molo can understand Elvish for the moment, it's becoming clear that Oceanus cannot understand Common.
The parrot shyly takes a bit of food from Katernin and then retreats to the far end of the room.
Oceanus gets to his feet, a little wobbly.
<Thank you>
he says, in Elvish. He continues to rub his sore wrist. He speaks again:
<Have you determined where the shipment of weaponry was bound? Are they still on board? Also, have you seen my things?>
"We wouldn't know what your things are," Fianna answers in Elvish. "I think it's just us and you left on board. Are there more of you we should be looking for? The crew is all dead or fled, the lizards also voluntarily went overboard after snatching up... Something."
