You walk for a ways through the town, until you reach a large building. "This is my home." Orden says. He motions for you to follow, and tells the guards to be at ease. He takes you around to the stables and leans against a wooden post.
"Well, this is good a place as any. This town is named Splintfork because, during the Great Conflict, this area was primarily farmland. The only real weapons they had were pitchforks. One day, Knurath and his minions made land just a few miles from here, on the coast. They found the farms, and when they tried to fight back, Knurath personally split each person in half with their pitchforks." Orden says. He seems a bit squeamish as he tells the story. "At least, that's the story. I always thought, hoped, that it was meant to scare us... But I'm not so sure."
Tender makes a face at the story, looking briefly horrified. "Well, that's a terrible reason to name a town," she says, shaking her head. "Why do you believe it's more than just a story?"
Fletcher looks amused. "not as bad as where I lived. my town was named after..." he realizes he has nearly given away where he lived and catches himself. he looks around nervously in case anyone heard him.

"Well as the heir to this town, I have to study history. The Great Conflict is one of the most prominent things I have to learn about." He explains. "I've read of some of the accounts, and seen some of the tapestries. They're... pretty shocking."

Kallista only half-listens to the story. She's passed through dozens of towns like this one, each with its own story of how it was ravaged by Knurath and his army. Splintfork's is on the more gruesome end, sure, but it's just another tale. She tilts her head towards Fletcher when he suddenly cuts off his comment. Her interest is piqued, but she respects his privacy, choosing not to pry. After all, she's no stranger to keeping secrets.
"Well, I can tell my story has bothered you all in one way or another, so I apologize for that." Orden says with a chuckle. "Can I interest any of you in some food before you head off?"

"It's no offence ta me. I've heard all nature o' stories over the years." At Fletcher's cut-off comment, Orimdal looks at him quizzically. He's definitely a strange fellow. Turning back to Orden, he replies to the offer of food, "Fer sure Orden, son of Gren. But 'haps you can tell us what ya need over some food?"
As Evi followed the others into the city proper - furthest one back as was her custom - she performed her usual routine when in a new area of counting the amount of guards, escape routes and hiding spots suitable for her very small stature. Satisfied with her options she kept an eye out for anyone who could have been potentially following her until they arrived at the stables. Relaxing slightly once there, she listened without expression as Orden told the tale of Splintfork. Though unpleasant, she was not shocked as it wasn't the first time she had heard stories like these about Eastern Rauruth; and besides crazier things used to happened back home she thought to herself, growing wistful at the thought of her home she was sure she'd never see again. Snapping back to focus - and having missed part of the conversation - she asks Orden "Where exactly would we need to go? Back to Vinanthi?"
"Well, these are stables, I could lend you some horses to catch up with the caravan with. They surely won't be traveling fast, so you could easily catch them within an hour, at most." Orden says to Evi.

"Umm maybe... if that's our only option I guess." She replies a little flustered, trying to hide the fact that she did not know how to ride a horse nor was she particularly fond of them since they reminded her of mounted city guards.
"Well, horses would certainly make catching up to them easier," Tender says, following Orimdal's gaze towards the animals. "Though, I was also rather looking forward to food, first, if I'm honest." It had been a while since she'd had more than road rations.
"Well I can get you some real quick. It's no trouble at all." Orden says. He leaves and comes back lugging 4 heavy sacks, each filled with breads, crops, and sweets. He gives you each four days of rations and smiles warmly. "I along with all of Splintfork thank you for retrieving our supplies."

"Oh, yes, he has a point," Tender agrees around a mouthful of sweets, looking momentarily sheepish at her lack of manners. "We're to give them the fish, yes? In exchange for what, exactly?"
Kallista takes her rations with a nod of thanks, then slips to the back of the group next to Evi. She had noticed the girl's routine of counting guards and scouting escape routes, and approved heavily - she herself had been doing the same thing. Keeping her voice low, she asks, "Is everything alright? You seem worried?"
"Gren." He says.
