Welcome all to my second PbP campaign (first is still in progress, but going well). Right here I've come up with another idea for a campaign (taking inspiration for it from the article "Worldbuilding with your Players". In this campaign, we will do lots of RP'ing (so please only join if you are interested in that, no murder hobos please) and delving into each character's backstory. At the same time, there will be missions and quests to go on for the greater good of the setting!
Looking for 4-6 players. All official content is allowed, UA and Homebrew at my discretion. Characters start at Level 1, with normal starting equipment. Come prepared with at least an idea of your character's backstory, we will be building on them and whatnot throughout. I will ask that your character be a native of this setting (so no characters from Faerun, Wildemount, or other settings, please).
Simply pick one of the colored regions that your character is from. Each one is home to any number of races, and so your character can be from any of them. We'll figure out where your character fit in to their home setting when the time comes.
Looking forward to all the amazing applications!

Characters: Lar-Dun Vanthaft - Human Warlock - Yawning Portal with Artymis, Moril - Tiefling Sorcerer - Dragondenn's Dragonlords, Paquinal Dalanthan - Eladrin Wizard - ShadowThorn's Out of the Abyss
Campaigns: Rod of Nankon, Darkness Reborn, Dungeonverse, Alycron - A Cosmic Horror West Marches (Co-DMing), One-on-Ones
backstory: Fletcher was abandoned as a baby, left to die in the mountains in the north west of Rauruth. in the middle of the night, the blacksmith of the nearest village, Berdon, was collecting coal for his forge, when he came across the baby. he took him in and raised him as his own, teaching him how to use the forge, how to read and write and how to handle a blade- after all his main export was swords. however, when he was halfway through his seventeenth year, the blacksmith fell on hard times. a new, closer blacksmith had opened in the barracks, and his business was faltering. he started shoeing horses, and doing odd jobs, but he could barely pay for coal, let alone food. fletcher took to hunting, but sold most of the meat he gained. at least that which Didric didn't take. Didric was the son of the mayor. he was a stuck up bully, and enjoyed taunting fletcher. he started demanding cuts of the meat fletcher brought back, or he threatened to kick Berdon out of town. fletcher hated him, but could do nothing about it. one day a man came into town. he introduced himself as Sgt Rotter. he set up a stall at the market, and was selling items of questionable origin- orc teeth, goblin ears and the like. fletcher was uninterested in the grizzly prizes, but one item caught his eye. a book, that was bound in leather, and inscribed with runes- old runes, that blacksmiths use to identify their work. fletcher, Berdon, and the other blacksmith were probably the only people that could read them in town. after the market ended, the old Sergeant had sold everything but the book. when fletcher inquired about it, Rotter gave it to him for free. the man couldn't read, and he had nothing else left to sell. with his newfound prize under his arm, fletcher headed home. when he settled down that evening he remembered the book. he got it out and started reading. a lot of it he didn't understand, but he did glean from it is that the orc who owned this book was a shaman. a master in Hemocraft- the forbidden magic. he found a piece of parchment inside, which had a rune and an incantation on it. he absentmindedly read it aloud, and before he realized what he had done, therenwas a wave of heat and the book combusted. the sigil rose from the page and imprinted on his hand, which burned in pain. he rushed outside to put his hand in the snow, but in front of him was standing Didric and two of his cronies. they had just been passing by, but they saw the chance to torment fletcher and took it. a big mistake. fletcher shoved his hand out in front of him and a burst of flame hit Didric in the face. it took fletcher a moment to realize it came from him. he grabbed his saved money, his pack, and one of Berdons finest swords, and ran into the woods. he managed to escape the patrols, but does not know wether he killed Didric or not. he decided to travel, and try and make sense of his newfound magic
also, I was reading the rod of nankon and it was actually really enjoyable.
you didn't specify what kind of stats, so here are some rolls. I will use standard for now, but they are here if you need them.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Thanks! I appreciate that. Stat generation method doesn't really matter to me (as long as you don't make everything insanely high), so you could do Manual, Point Buy, or Standard Array. Any of those ways are fine with me.
For all who are looking to join this, don't feel pressured to get your application in fast. Since this is an RP heavy campaign, I'm hoping for well developed characters with thought put into their personality and a little bit into their background as well. There's no rush! I'll probably be picking in about a week to ensure that people have plenty of time and lots of applications can (hopefully) be submitted.

Name: Felix Nebulix
Race: Dragonborn (white)
Class: Wizard (planning on order of scribes since it has more to do with the spellbook, which fits into my backstory, tho its UA.)
Background: Sage
Backstory:
Felix was born in Mazyliak, near the center. As a dragonborn, Felix was never very strong nor social, she did not have the muscles nor the social capabilities, she couldn't even lift a box, or talk to someone without shaking, stumbling on her words, and running away before they judged her... But what she lacked in strength and social skills she had in brain and intelect. Felix was always a very knowledge hungry little dragonborn, she used to read all day and all night, she learned and consumed as much as she could, but eventualy she learned all there was in Mazyliak. Felix was still hungry for more, she wasnt satisfied. Felix was still very young at the time, and so, she was forbiden to travel. She went searching for another way to gain knowledge... Demons. Felix had read about them in some old books without the knowledge of the others, if they knew she had studied about such foul, yet magnificent and astonishing creatures they would surely punish and reprehend her. One night, she went into the nearest woods and summoned a demon, making a deal with it. Her soul for knowledge. That was a decision Felix came to regret, as she became forever unsatisfied, she felt a huge void within her, a hunger that could never be stopped, however she did obtain the knowledge she asked for, in the form of a spellbook, and in the form of knowledge about how to continue to gain even more knowledge. Due to her soul being lost, Felix's emotions became dull, so she locked her emotions away, making her cold, introverted and a bit depressed. She loves isolation and to read, she could spend all day reading and studying, be it spells, flowers or stars. Felix loves everything that is beautiful, her love for life had not disappeared, she loves nature and the night, however the emptiness is starting to get to her, and she wishes to get her soul back somehow... She had read something about souls, but most pages were missing, but Felix hopes that out there, in some old book or library, she will get the answers she needs, and she will get her soul back. She hopes she can finaly be satisfied.
Personality: Felix is very shy and introverted, she will avoid as many social encounters and talking as she can. She has a lot of dificulties making friends, because shes very scared, but she will warm up quickly if the other person makes the first moves. Shes very logical, and can sometimes be very cold, shes not the best when it comes to emotions, and she always needs a bit of time alone to recharge and relax. She is not fit for combat, she was never a fighter, shes very fragile, and she prefers to avoid it all, but if it comes to combat, she has a few spells that can damage her enemies. She has no problem with sharing her things or to even help someone in need, but due to her social awkwardness shes always too scared to step up. Shes also a bit gloomy, but with time she can get better.
(I am blind and cannot see the map, can you just help me figure out where this nature-loving halfling would be from?)
Yes, of course, I would be glad to help. With Rauruth being the largest of the provinces, it would have the most environmental diversity, so possibly there. But if you're looking for a more consistent environment (like if he only likes forests or coasts or something) then probably Vinanathi or Nofaremata. Hope this helps.

His homeland might be one of the more forest-only areas, as a ghostwise, but he would likely have traveled to a more diverse area and be wandering throughout there now.
@JumpierPoet- I have edited my backstory in, but where would mountains be in Rauruth?
I would say certainly in the north, if you're talking about tall, snowy, Everest-like mountains. Rocky, deserty, volcanic mountains would probably not exist in Rauruth at all.

I'd like to play another PC's sidekick. Perhaps someone saved my character's life who then swore to protect him/her as a bodyguard or perhaps whose family adopted my character as a child and they grew up together and vowed to go off adventuring together.

Rashana was born as a Kalashtar which is a bloodline of the family. She was the oldest among the other two siblings, a brother and a sister. During her youth, her parents taught them about the spirit to which they bound. She and her siblings were taught to embrace the spirit and how to understand it. Under her parents guidance and discipline, Rashana grew into a calm, and collective person; though she still knows to let loose of herself from time to time.
When she became 20, she got a demand from the spirit to travel north and find the monastery that resided near the mountainside to prepare herself for the Dreaming Dark. While her siblings each had a different journey. She traveled across the forest and eventually found the monastery. She got accepted to the monastery due to her collective attitude. She was trained under an elven master named Eldryn.
She was a fast learner. After five years of training, she had learned all the martial techniques that her master had to offer. Eldryn thought maybe it was time for her to go out and see the world outside of monastery in order to realize her full potential. Before she left, her master said to her, "Remember, what you've learned is to create peace, not destroy it.", which had become her guideline.
PS: I haven't chosen the homeland yet, would be great if the GM can provide some input when I got picked.

Hi Jumpier,
Am loving Nankon with you currently, and would like to join in here if that's ok. Would you be ok with a wild magic sorcerer? I'm happy to discuss how we'd handle surge tables etc. I have a few ideas, but thought I'd check about this one first.

Name: Orimdal Axeforged
Race: Mountain Dwarf
Class: Sorcerer (Wild Magic)
Background: Clan Crafter
Background: An armour smith proficient with both leather and metal, Orimdal slaved at his art for many years. Many would travel far and wide to come to his forge, in a small town in Raurauth, in order to have him produce pieces of armour. During one long day at the forge, Orimdal struck his hammer down on a chunk of metal, though unbeknownst to him there was a crystal within. Upon striking the crystal, a massive release of magical energy erupted from the crystal, throwing Orimdal back and knocking him unconscious. When he came to, the smithy looked as it always had, however on his anvil sat the crystal, clean-cut and glowing softly. Picking up the crystal, Orimdal accidentally cast a spell and as a result the wild magic within him surged forth. Having dealt with spell casters before, Orimdal realised he needed to gather more information while he tried to come to terms with these strange powers, lest he injure others. But this was not the only reason for Orimdal's want for harnessing his new magical powers. He also wished to see if he could incorporate his magical energy into his crafting, creating even more powerful and impressive armour, and thus setting himself apart, and above, his fellow crafters.
@SpieltJoos Thanks! Personally I think RoN is also running pretty well which is surprising to me since it's my first PbP campaign. I would indeed allow a wild magic sorcerer, of course for your application I would need race and background as well as backstory. Otherwise I'm excited to see what you'll whip up!
