right in that case, I take the dash action towards you. I am now 90ft under you 10 ft to the side.
(Should be 100 feet below me, 30 feet to the side. I was 100 feet up, 90 feet away at the start of your turn. Unless you have 40 foot move speed? 100 feet up either way though)
Ileanys flinches at the explosion of fire in his face, losing his concentration, and the sphere of darkness melts away. He growls and launches a trio of bolts at his foe before rising a bit higher into the air.
so directly above me 120 ft? ok distant meta magic hold person. DC 18 wis save. if fail you are restrained you will fall all 120 feat, and be at my mercy.

(Uhh, your character sheet had Quickened spell and Twinned spell before as metamagic options. If you're retroactively changing to distant spell, I'll rise up to 130 feet instead)
Edit: And not sure if it would cause falling either way. Flying through the magic item, not physical flight.
hmm. it didn't actually. I never take twinned spell for PvP, as it is mainly only good for buffs. however, I converted this character sheet from my regular one yesterday, and I dont know when you looked at it? I either take distant or empowered, and in this case, if I was going to retcon, I would probably take empowered no? it would be far more useful. once again, you are right. you will not fall, as you did not cast the spell. my bad.

I looked at it when you tried to cast hound of ill omen/hold person originally. And yesterday to look at Suggestion when you tried to cast it to check the range. And still had it up from yesterday and looked at it after you posted using Distant Spell/Hold person, where it still showed Twinned Spell until I refreshed it, at which point it changed to Distant Spell.
I mean, I get that Twinned spell is an odd choice, and noted it as such when I saw it. But it was definitely there.
But if you have Distant Spell instead, then I'd be at 130 feet instead of 120.
I have no idea why it didn't show that for you, and I would have no reason to take twinned meta magic. that kinda smells metagamey to me, but alright (not sure how you would know where the range of my spells are). Killian just...stands there. unable to do anything.
This is devolving into rules lawyering. idk if PvP and PbP mix very well ;)

Going up to 130 is less metagamey than staying at 120 when I didn't see any spells that worried me at that range that wouldn't also be able to still hit me if i went up 10 feet further. As a spellcaster, it's not hard for lleanys to know that spells pretty much all work in increments of 30 feet, and if he doesn't know anything you have besides fireball, going up to 130 is the easiest/safest way to cut off a range band.
And Killian isn't unable to do anything if I'm at 130 feet. Fireball is a 150 foot range. Moonbeam is 120 foot and creates a 40 foot high cylinder above that (unless it has to be on the ground?). Hypnotic pattern is 120 foot range and affects creatures within a 30 foot cube from there.

having played in the coliseum of conquest a lot, matches do tend to do that sometimes.

One could argue that empowered might actually make more sense by default for a 90 foot radius arena, versus distant that's good against an opponent that can fly out of range of the shorter distance spells ;)
I'm not entirely opposed to starting over without the flying if you want, though my build would need some changes. Hold Person + disadvantage from hound of ill omen being the biggest thing that worries me (Since getting paralyzed into not being able to do anything wouldn't really be any better than having your opponent fly out of range of most of what you can do)
no no. we have started we will finish. your build is totally legit, and something I didn't see coming. I thought fireball was 120ft. moonbeam must be on the ground, and I think cubes must be WITHIN the range. however I do cast fireball again. also I pick distant by default for PvP, as I always play shadow sorcerers. they are super mobile, so distant is a massive benefit.

For cubes, it looks like the point of origin is anywhere on a face of the cubic effect. So presumably the point of origin could be the side closest to you, which would let the rest reach further out.
it is a 6th level slot so 37

success. that is 18 damage. I think you need to make a DC 10 con save for concentration.

depends on if you fail concentration.

Thirsting Blade Attack: 32 Damage: 11 + 4 necrotic damage from Lifedrinker invocation
Bonus Action:
Crossbow Expertise Attack: 16 Damage: 7 + 4 necrotic damage from Lifedrinker invocation
If any of those 3 attacks hits, expend a pact slot for Eldritch Smite to deal an additional 23 force damage.
Move: Another 20 feet higher and 30 foot horizontal to be 120 feet away vertically directly above Killian.
