I'm totally okay with bringing him along, as long as everyone agrees. If that were to happen, I'll run him as a DMNPC, but it's important that everyone in the party accepts him and he doesn't overshadow the rest of you, thus I'll probably homebrew something up for him.

I'm cool with it. Maybe he wants to get the heck out of dodge too. I like the commoner homebrew class idea too. Bring him along. Perhaps he can be a young man starting out with a group of seasoned adventurers.
I hope all of you are enjoying the adventure so far. We've reached a point in the game where we can take a step back and take care of some business.
Congratulations on surviving the tavern brawl and braving the Lieutenant's interrogation! For that, each of you earns 75 exp. Add it to your character sheets.
I'm absolutely loving the roleplay that you've been doing so far. I really like how your characters are developing and interacting with NPCs and each other. I will like to award everyone an Inspiration for your efforts. Keep it up!
On the topic of character sheets, I would like to remind everyone to continuously update them during combat: hit points lost or gained and spell slots expended. As a DM, I already have a lot on my plate, so please manage your characters well so I don't have to go back through combat to make sure if the next attack knocks you unconscious or not. Also, make sure that there are no holes in your sheets. Berdach- your "currency" is blank. Please fix that.
On your next post, I would like you to dive a bit deeper into your character's thoughts. Try to include some of the following:
How do they feel about the events that transpired yesterday? About their quest?
How do they feel about their current companions? About bringing a completely inexperienced bartender along?
What are their thoughts on their future? What goals and achievements are they striving for? How are they planning to get there?
Oculis, let's get started on making John Redcorn's character sheet. Here's how his character is going to function: in combat, he will generally accept your orders and commands, so you will control his character and Zee's simultaneously. Note that I have the power to step in when I want, so when he is ordered to do something he would absolutely not do, then he won't do it. Outside of battle, he'll behave like a regular NPC, but he'll generally defer to you. Here's how you'll make his sheet:
Use this homebrew Commoner class. The only difference is that his hit dice will be a d6 instead of a d8, but to compensate he'll actually gain hit dice and hit points every level, unlike the class's current description. D&D Beyond doesn't allow you to create homebrew classes, so you might have to use other software or a physical sheet.
You are free to customize him as you want. Below are the only things that you'll have to give him.
Background- Innkeeper. Proficiency in Performance, Insight, Brewer's supplies, Cook's supplies. Feature: He can share his stories in any tavern or inn to get free food and lodging.
Give him the quarter staff as his second simple weapon proficiency. He starts with a dagger, a quarter staff, an explorer’s pack, and 5 gold.
Personality trait- I've stayed in the same place my entire life. I'm eager to leave it behind and travel the world for adventure.
Ideal- The heroes of old live on in my tales. It's my job to tell them and inspire the next generation.
Bond- I own the Night Hollow Inn. It will always be my true home.
Flaw- I'm naive about the hardships of adventuring. While I imagine it to be the same as the great epics I've heard, I'm in for a rude surprise when I encounter the truth.
John will also start with 75 exp. Send me a picture or link of his sheet through PM.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Your efforts and hard work contribute to the game a lot and make it a lot more fun for everyone. If you have any comments, please share them below.
It’s very unfortunate that Siyaj had to leave. Oculis too seems to be very inactive as well, but I’d like to give him some more time given his investment into the adventure. I’ve reopened the recruitment thread and we’ll be receiving new players shortly. Just wanted to check in with you guys about what I’m up to. It’s quite sad that players have to leave in the midst of the story we are building together, but that’s the reality of life. I wanted to thank you for your consistent postings, they really help drive the campaign forward. We’ll continue the game at full steam, as always.
Id lioe to apologize for not posting recently. I had a loss in the family and had to focus my attention on that yesterday. I'm ok now and ready to keep going. I'll be posting in a bit. Again, sorry.

Razor, do you think you could just post the picture instead of us all having to use that link where we need permission to view it? One of my favorite methods is to use another website to get it into the digital medium, like https://www.deviantart.com/ for instance. I feel like this would help a lot and streamline combat. It worked wonders for me.

Hey guys, I just wanted to remind everyone that you have inspiration right now. I don't know the level, as in what die to use, though. Usually it is a 1d6.
Especially Arikon. I'll be giving mine to him once he uses his own on an attack.

Inspiration allows you to reroll any dice roll, for your character only. Some tables play with Inspiration like Bardic Inspiration, but if we wanted to do that, then we should establish it now that's how Inspiration works.

I'm a fan of the bardic insp. rules since it can scale depending on how well the character gained it, however advantage on any dice roll is amazing too. So I'm fine with what you want to work with in this game. Making the rules surrounding this subject clear would be nice though.
I understand we can only use it for our own rolls, but the rules written do state that we can grant another person our inspiration. If as a house rule, it is not possible, then I will gladly accept it.

So sorry to hear about your loss, Oculis. It's always difficult.
I've been enjoying the story and fleshing Jeb out as the story progresses. I also really liked your map. Nice skills!
Completely agree with batlthazars post in every aspect.
Sorry for your loss, oculis.
