Investigation: 14
A few of the older locals are able to give the dragon's name to Ai'ryn, along with a bit of his legend: Dagurashibanipal was an green monstrosity of unknown age. His vile fog permeated the lands near the rock, under which he made his home in the caverns that run deep under the Cliffside into the rock itself. Androll was able to chase the beast of using some kind of "magical crossbow" that damaged the creature badly, forcing it to flee, but the beast vowed revenge on Androll as it escaped.

DMOOC ill have the book you're reading posted in just a couple minutes, its going to have a bunch of screens hots, sorry its gonna be big., lol
take your time.
The last few pages of the book have been torn out, forever obscuring any further knowledge it may have once shared...you wonder if Androll himself may have once held this book. Perhaps he still holds the missing pages?
"By Gods and Devils......" Righteousness muttered in horror...he then flags down a librarian after closing the text, "how much to purchase or borrow this tome?"
"By Gods and Devils......" Righteousness muttered in horror...he then flags down a librarian after closing the text, "how much to purchase or borrow this tome?"
The mild looking elf at the counter looks over her spectacles, examining the cover of the book.
"Oh, are you a student of ecology? I see that particular book has some bad damage, you can have it for...(she opens a portfolio and runs her finger down a list) "...3 silver."
She smiles again, noticing your arm badge. "Would you like me to put that on the temple account?"
"No, I should be able to cover this with this piece." He hands her a gold piece. "i only wish for 2 silver pieces back, the rest can go towards funding the library. Thank you very much, madam, you may have saved a band from making a grave error." when the transaction completes, he bows, and departs.
Jhoni spends the time inventorying the cargo and selling it off, fairly splitting between everyone who helped. Once the drudgery of captaincy has been done he will head to a dock side tavern to see if he can hear of any interesting cargoes or rumours having come into town or merchants looking for haulage recently
Quote from OmraGedkaz>>"Well, quite a day we've had so far, wouldn't you say?", asks Mool, a comical expression on the short Dwarf's face. "I'd like to invite you all as guests of honor to the temple feast tonight, we can discuss this situation, among others," he says, referring to the dragon attack. He continues, " A town crier has been sent out to request the assistance of any willing and able heroes to take up the mantle of seeking out and destroying the heinous creature that attacked the farm, whether it be Androll’s ancient foe or some other dastardly malicious entity. You have done so much for our town already, I am remiss to ask you at all, but my station demds it of me. Will you help us in our quest to rid Androll's rock of this scourge?"
Nivlen will walk with Mool as they re-enter the city and confirm with him that he is willing to aid in the dragon ordeal. As they walk he will inquire about the location of a leather-worker and a potion shop. Before departing from Mool, he will tell him that he is looking forward to tonight’s feast.
During the downtime, Nivlen will seek out the leather-worker to fashion a crossing bandolier for high capacity crossbow bolt storage and retrieval. The hope is that it can be made to store 20 bolts on each side for a total of 40 quick access bolts. The shop owner can work out the details on just how much capacity a bandolier can have across the chest of a halfling. Also, we will haggle the price and estimated delivery date/time.
Next, Nivlen will search for a shop to acquire, or at least price, healing potions.
Finally, Nivlen will retire to the temple barracks for a rest and impromptu recruitment of fellow guards that might be nearby for the aid in dragon hunting.

Once the drudgery of captaincy has been done he will head to a dock side tavern to see if he can hear of any interesting cargoes or rumours having come into town or merchants looking for haulage recently
The rest of the cargo consists of a few crates of salt pork and herring, canvas for sail repairs. It seems Gnirm didn't have time to raid any ships before the storm forced him to port.
When you ask the fisherman you'd been working for if he's heard any interestingnews lately, he tells you he's noticed a strange mark he's never seen before coming through the docks on tsome of the outbound cargo crates. He tells you he could have sworn he saw one of the crates rocking back and forth on its own. He draws the mark out on a slate and shows you:
Mallus looks around the town, hoping to see a place he could find information on the dragon attack. He than turns to TlakShak "I have't seen many of your kind for a while, please do tell, what brings you to Androll's Rock?" he pauses for a bit, "Name is Mallus, what's yours?"

Mool directs you to a nearby leather worker, and wishes you luck in your negotiations. As you enter the shop, a man behind the counter smiles and greets you warmly. upon hearing your request, he asks you to wait here a moment while he fetches something you might like from the back of the shop. When he returns, he is carrying a long leather strap with many small metal tubes running perpendicular to the edge of the strap. He explains to you that he and the village weapon smith and the tinkerer have been working on this device for some time, and he demonstrates how the device uses tiny springs to allow a person to reload a hand crossbow twice as fast as normal, but unfortunately they haven't been able to make a full size crossbow version of it work yet. News travels fast in a small town, he tells you, and he has heard from one of the BlueBoys that hang around his shop that you saved 3 girls from falling to their death earlier today. He offers to let you purchase the Bandoleer for only 25 gold pieces, to cover the cost of the parts and labor, and offers to sell you the hand crossbow with it for an additional 5 GP. He also tells you if you like it, he can make you another one, for another 25 gp, but it will take him a week or 30 gp if you want a second hand crossbow.
OOC
Quickshot Bandoleer
holds 20 hand crossbow bolts
allows the user to fire 2 shots as an action instead of 1
while equipped: when using a hand crossbow, it doesnt require the use of 2 hands to load, allowing the user to wield an offhand weapon(or shield).
Edit: You noticed an apothecary across the street on your way into the shop.
An emissary of the temple arrives, and asks to speak with one "Captain Jhoni" He informs Jhoni that he and the rest of their group are cordially invited to a feast in the great dining hall of the temple, both to celebrate the discovery and arrest of pirates in the port of Androll, and to request their aid in forming a large group of adventurers for the purpose of hunting the dragon that destroyed the nearby farmhouse
Below decks, Tanogar (the druid with the tribal markings of Chult) stirs from his slumber. He remembers leaving his Island home some weeks before by ship. The third night of his voyage he had woken to the sound of the ship's mast cracking like thunder as it was sheared away, and the boat capsizing.Men were screaming all around him as something dragged them under the suddenly turbulent waters. At some point, he lost conciousness. He had awoken sometime later, washed up on a small sandbar with a single Silverpalm bush. He was lucky to have not drowned, and luckier still(at least he had thought at the time) to be picked up by one Captain Gnirm and his crew aboard a small cargo ship about a day later. The Captain had invited him into his cabin, offering him food and wine. Moments before slipping into unconsciousness, Tanogar had realized he had been tricked, drugged by the captain! Now, standing before him as he clears his head is a tall High Elf, leaning on the handle of her battle axe, and a man with slightly elven features. Both seem to be examining him, waiting for him to wake.
Nivlen will eagerly accept the deal for the Quickshot Bandolier and the hand crossbow.
(OOC: Nivlen already owns a hand crossbow but doesn’t mind having a backup for only 5gp more. Is the new one especially designed to work with the bandolier and should replace his current one?)
After exchanging the 30gp for the hand crossbow and bandolier, Nivlen thanks and then asks where he might go to procure 20 additional bolts and a halfling sized shield or buckler.

DMOOC: should work with any hand crossbow, but you can only use one crossbow with one bandoleer.
e.g. he can reload the right hand fast but not the left hand, or vice versa. If he does get the second bandoleer from the shopkeeper, he would be able to fire two shots for every one he could normally fire with each hand, provided he has offhand fighting capabilities(i also think you can fire a missile weapon with your off hand withour two handed fighting at disadvantage, but i have to look that up).
DMINC:
The shopkeeper directs you to the nearby fletcher, who offers to sell you 20 bolts for 15 GP. If you decide to visit the Apothecary He is willing to sell common healing potions for 40 gp (2d4+2 hp restored) each.
Returning from his sojourn with full belly, and fuller mind, Righteousness notices the captain talking to someone from the temple, then to a fisherman and looking at the crates. "Do you require assistance in anything captain? If not, I request a favor of you."

Tegid asks around about Mallifax, one would assume that he's not the big kahoona.
OOC DM can answer any one of these (I don't expect an answer to all but these would be something asked) I'll also roll for investigation
Going around the town square/marketplace
1) is Mallifax local?
2) has anyone seen him with strangers not just shoppers?
3) why would girls go to Mallifax (seeing if he traps them or if he has thugs go and take them)
