"I'm not Paulo," Salazar whispers, "but I can tell you her sense of decor is a bit on-the-nose." Salazar gives a quiet chuckle and a tiny tsk-tsk noise. "A skull on the basement door of a lich's tower? Hasn't that been done already? Her architect should be thoroughly ashamed."
The chuckle seems to have done him some good, Salazar's shoulders lift along with his spirits and his crouch seems a bit more prepared. "If it's like any bard's tale, it will be warded. Do be wary, Paulo."
Paulo nods, patting Sally on the shoulder as he passes. He goes over to the door, being careful not to touch it. He inspects the skull emblem with a discerning eye.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While they're messing with the door, Lesley is going to continue observing the junction above the west staircase. "What would be the point of having three different, staircases. I know liches can be a little much sometimes, but there has to be more to this..." (Investigation: 8)

Lesley observes the staircase. It seems that judging by the condition of the stone this place, while most likely originally some kind of cave system, has been renovated somewhat recently.
Meanwhile, Paulo hurls two daggers towards the eyes of the door as you hear a crackling of glass. A foul wind rushes out of the door itself as you hear a single piercing shriek fill your eardrums. Meanwhile, an explosion rumbles the tower above. You have no doubt that this battle has almost certainly begun aboveground.
Lesley pokes his head back from the stairwell, “What on earth was that!? Oh, you got the door open. Good job, Mr. Paulo. I don’t really think that going up would be the best idea. Perhaps we should look into that screaming door?”
When Ord's attempt to open the door is unsuccessful, Paulo moves forward, drawing a small worn leather pouch from one of the pockets on his cloak. "Light, please, Ord? Yes, there's a good chap." Paulo is so engrossed in his work, he hardly notices Ord whisper a prayer and touch his shoulder, giving him Amaunator's Guidance. "Let me see. Oh, it appears to be a Barron's lock. A mite tricky, but should be no match for my lucky curtain pick... and maybe a torsion wrench."
With a soft series of clicks, the door is unlocked. "Let's see what the other side holds. Sally, do back me up? Like that one time in Yartar with the moneylender and the lady of the night?" Chuckling at the sour look on Salazar's face, he turns, stowing his tools and drawing out his rapier once more.
Ord grins and pats Paulo on the back, Well done, lad.
He then moves into position behind Salazar and Paulo. He mutters a soft prayer for Amaunator's Guidance and the golden disk appears on his forehead. Amaunator guide and protect us. Especially from our own folly.
“If I remember, the Yartaran moneylender turned out to be a cambion who wished me to wager my soul… and wasn’t your “lady of the evening” really a lad with a corset stuffed with turnips. I think that was Yartar.” Salazar takes his place just a pace behind Paulo. “I doubt the Lady of Rot will be smuggling turnips, my boon companion. I move on your mark, anything threatening you will meet the glowing Flail of Galdfrey. I say true, say thank ye.”
"He was very convincing, wasn't he? I nearly paid him out of sheer respect for his dedication to his craft! Those shoes must have been painful. And, you didn't really just name your flail, did you? You've never even used it!" Glancing back, Paulo remarks, "buck up, Cleric. Worst comes to worst, we all die and spend eternity in oblivion. Better case, we end up rich! Best case, we live AND I tell every pretty Cleric of Amaunator I can find about your heroism and devotion."
With a satisfying click, the door unlocks and moves aside to reveal a hallway beyond. As you walk up the steps you see several iron doors that line your path. Coming from one near the end of the hall, you hear terrible banging. The hall heads North at first but you see it quickly turns a corner, heading West. However, at the corner, you notice two iron cell doors, one that is empty to the North and another that you cannot really see into that leads to the East (because of perspective). This seems to be where the banging is coming from.
As you all take a quick step into the hallway, the banging stops (it's not a question of light, it's just perspective. If there's an opening at the end of a hallway you can't see into the opening). As then you suddenly hear a very high pitched, but coarse voice... inside your mind: "Hello! I-Is there someone there? Please, quickly, free me!"
“Right. We’re working on that...” Lesley turns to the rest of the group. “So... you all heard that right?” and then looks around the cell, trying to find both Elonast and the lock.

As Lesley runs into the hallway and gets to the corner he sees that the hall seems to extend another 30 ft. or so with three more cells. In the cell to the north he sees nothing except manacles... and there still is some kind of dried liquid on them...
As you then turn to the other Eastern cell you see a very strange sight. An incredibly small dragon sits perched on a stand of some kind in a bare room with the exception of a small dirty pile of hay. As the dragon sees you the voice in your head continues: "Why thank Bahamut that somebody arrived here. You have no idea how long I have been waiting. Please let me out, I can't bear the stench of this room any longer!"

Through his darkvision, Lesley sees the stairs extend upwards towards some kind of landing. Several passageways seem to jut out of the above area.

Ord visibly pales.
We are supposed to stay below, aye? Let's do that.
He creeps forward towards the skull door though he seems to move almost impossibly slowly.
Ord whispers a spell softly, Amaunator, lend me your light. And then searches the area for any clues as to the stone door's origins defences.
Ord casts Guiance and then examines the door using History and Dwarven STonecutting knowledge (rolled 23).
Ord exhales softly. The door is locked, and is hinged on the side I think we can open it by pushing. Are we ready? Is this the right way?
Ord places an unsteady hand on the door.
When Ord's attempt to open the door is unsuccessful, Paulo moves forward, drawing a small worn leather pouch from one of the pockets on his cloak. "Light, please, Ord? Yes, there's a good chap."
