Leann picks up one of the crystal blades of the destroyed statues, looking it over. Then Leann stands back, sword ready as well, not certain what is inside the construct.
The combined efforts of Hondo's number fingers and Shutorn's utterance of an a commonly used arcane comman word bear fruit.
The main compartment of the kraken opens along a barely visible seam. The upper half pushing away from the lower with no effort (ooc: like the gate of a minivan). As it opens, a putrid odor fills the garage.
Inside you find the animated remains of an older female kenku. Her jellified undead body is slopped around an ornamental helmet and shackles. A thin silver wire connects the helmet and shackles to the coffin. She speaks with an agonized expression in the voices of dozens of terrified humanoids who met their collective demise ages ago.
Huarache and Hondo recognize the wire as a form of astral silver cord.
With sunken milky eyes the kenku looks at Huarache and in the voice of a young girl, cries "Please, I'll do anything you want, just get me out of here!" Between desperate sobs.
Hondo looks at the kenku and then back at his companions. “Guys, I know some of you might want to let her free, but this could be a trap. We should ask her about Kwalish before we do anything else.”
“I know,” Omiy jumps off the main engine, pointing her sword at the undead kenku, raising her eyebrow, as she says crudely, “before we let her out, let’s cut off her arms and legs, so she’ll behave. “
Clearly familiar with the name, once uttered, the kenku states in the voice of its bearer, "Kwalish" in a calm tone of introduction, followed by the same voice screaming "it's opening... The portal is active! It's .. wha-?" abruptly stopping, she tilts her head. "It's all over now. Everything lost under a sea of carnivorous ooze from Juiblex’s Slime Pits." again in Kwalish's voice.
She gestures with a gooey undead appendage (as far as the silver string which binds her will allow) at the ridge as 15 more ooze-folk clambor over the broken top of the tower. "Now, you will be their priest in death. But you will be my puppet now, just as Gloine Nathaire-Nathaire was yours!" She squawks in Kwalish's cruel voice <that's all said in common.>
The module actually does state 25 ooze-folk, and the kenku is there but the book consistently uses the gender-neutral word 'priest'.
"Well, we've got more company," declares Huarache. He turns back to the kenku. "Just making sure I understand completely: are you asking us to cut that silver cord on your head? Is it causing you pain?"
Leann has her eyes on the new glass figures. She leaves the others to deal with the thing in the construct. (Anything special about the crystal blade she picked up?)
“You heard the lady, she wants us to chop off her head. “ Omiy lets go a little grip on her sword, holding it midway downwards, still pointing towards the kenku. “Besides, she’s probably messing with us. For all we know, any second she gets a chance, she’s going to turn us into those mindless crystal glass people. “

Hearing the cries of those seemingly trapped inside, Shutorn attempts to recall any lore about how to open such a device.

Hondo leaps onto the Kraken and tries to open it using thieves tools.

Sigurd takes a step back, readying another attack if the kraken continues to be aggressive, but otherwise getting out of his comrades' way.
Huarache will look around for screws or similar holding it shut (9 Investigation, if it matters).

Omiy crosses her legs and sits down on the kraken’s head, playing with its broken eye, pulling out small pieces of glass, wires and what not.
In the mean time I guess I can attune to the gauntlet Leann gave me.

In shock at the sight, Huarache asks, "What... what happened to you?"

"Put that down," says Huarache, nudging Omiy's blade downwards, "There's been no signs that that's at all necessary."

"Cut <pause> off the head!" the kenku shouts in a gruff male voice.
