"I am fine with giving the staff to Ms. Harpell. Are we proceeding south or east? I have no issue dealing with that foul creature to the east once and for all." Kazri gets ready, and signal to Oli that they are done here.

Seeing the creature for what it was, Rhogar let out a guttural growl and clenched his hands into tight fists. But then in seeming to remember his more immediate surroundings, the sound is quickly cut off with a grunt of annoyance and shake of his head."... Seems these gnoll creatures are not relegated to just the north-eastern passageway."He conveys to the party. "It's strange though -- well, stranger still, I suppose. But, this one, er, this new one does not appear to have a reflection in the ice though. Making it perhaps merely an... illusion, perchance?"He crossed his arms over his chest. "At least such a capability wouldn't surprise me at this point given how the one I believe turned into mist earlier. Though what's stranger still is that I have to find signs of the kobold from earlier, or of its ilks remains. As I doubt these foul dog creatures wouldn't have gotten a hold of at least or two by now."

Krom says considering the fact they have mostly encountered undead creatures or abomination within this cave complex. The dwarf murmurs a hymn of guidance while trying to recall past information about similar creatures.
"We still haven't found that tiefling either. Anyway, it may be better to face such creature sooner than later, so I think that we should head south towards it." says the dwarf as he readies his weapons.
"I shall be on my guard Mr. Nimbatuul. Please lead the way." Kazri and Oli wait for their next move.

You make your way south passing through a thirty-foot-high cave that exits to the south. Along the western side is a fifteen-foot-diameter hole in the floor that seems to be the upper end of a tunnel. Through that room you follow a long tunnel that leads to another chamber.
A flat sheet of cloudy ice forms one wall of this forty-foot-high cavern. Something dark and humungous shifts behind the wall, its tentacles waving unimpeded. You become aware you are not alone inside your mind. Somehow, this horror from another world has wormed its way inside you.
"Aargh" mutters in pain Krom as the dark presence creeps into his mind "That oversized octopus is not an illusion, but something unnaturally alive." says the dwarf, pointing his hammer at the tentacles behind the ice wall. "Let's stay close together and steer as far as possible from that wall while heading towards the southern tunnel."
"Agreed. We stay as far as possible from whatever that is." Chill says as he hugs the south wall and tries to stay as far as possible from where the creature is.
Rhogar's initial reaction is to stop, shake his head, and when that only failed to disperse the feeling another lurking in his mind, the dragonborn even stepped back a few paces in vain hope of breaking whatever foothold the entity made in his mind. Though almost a moment after doing as much, he'd look to himself with a scowl and let out a guttural growl. "Aye. We must proceed, but... But do your best to close your mind to it my friends, and only focus on moving past it no matter what. Or better yet, cast what protections you think help." He requests before with a thought, dismissing Gorrah to her pocket plane in hopes of shielding her from any ill probing. Afterwards, Rhogar unlatched the Branch Bell and looked from Oil to Vellynne as if uncertain for a moment.
Yet after some mental self-chastisement, a soft chiming can be heard as the Dragonborn waved the branch over himself and Vellynne, leaving the two briefly wrapped up in a silvery viel before it faded from view. "There... Now let's continue."
"Stay close friends, for Helm protects." Kazri makes sure that everyone is able to move further south, as she stays at the back, in case whatever it's behind the wall of ice change its mind.

You huddle closer to each other, and close to Kazri as you make your way past whatever it is that lurks behind the wall of ice. But you feel the tentacles of its mind try and take hold of you, to try and dominate you as you rush past as quick as you can.
Everyone but Rhogar make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw (remember +3 from Kazri)

The tentacles of wrap around the edges of your brain. Rhogar and Vellynne find themselves immune due to the protection spell that Rhogar cast. Krom and Kazri resist the attempts to dominate them and the tentacles slip away and leave them unscathed.
Oli and Chill both stop dead in their tracks, standing motionless.

Oli cannot understand what is happening being only a beast. He just stands still and waits.
Chill feels the effect of being charmed. The unknown being probes his mind and Chill allows it free reign in his head.
Seeing that Chill and Oli suddenly stop, Krom says to the rest of the group "Hurry, let's take them away from that thing!" The dwarf attempts to drag Chill away from the creature while heading towards the southern tunnel.

Kazri is at the back of the group, and last to leave the cavern. As she walks back facing the whatever monster lies at the eastern corner, she bumps into Oli. "Oli, we need to move." Kazri quietly speaks with the young Owlbear. She notices that Chill is also not moving. She tries to drag her friend away from the monster.
