Here begins the adventure Tomb of Annihilation. I will be posting the adventure hook soon. We will be beginning in Baldurs Gate. Please share your characters and what they are doing in Baldurs Gate. Also since you know each other already feel free to share what you are doing together.
Also here is what you have noticed over the past few day's while in Baldur's Gate.
"For the past several days, the talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who’s ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can’t be raised — and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world."
Now feel free to share what your characters are doing in Baldur's Gate.
Gil Godwin is a noble-born Human Fighter who, on the outside appears to be a very selfless and honorable person. On the inside, he is pretty selfish and only does good things for the glory and attention that comes with it. Gil cares greatly about his appearance and how others perceive him. He came upon the temple that Darb serves in and Darb helped him when he needed the food and shelter.
Gil came to Baldur's gate upon hearing rumors about this "death-curse." He figures if he can solve this mystery and abolish the curse, that all the fame, glory, gold, and attention that he seeks will be his!
"So Gil," Valdis says leaning on his heavy crossbow "What have you learned about this death curse? It sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo that old people make up to scare kids."
Dard says, "Yea of little faith Valdis, something is making people sick, maybe it is a curse, it would make as much sense as anything else. Either way we should try and figure this out before one of us gets sick.' Pointing to a religious symbol on his armour, "Why don't we go and see if someone can give us an idea or direction to start seeking truth."
Gil quickly puts away his personal mirror that he was using to admire his own handsomely chiseled face. "Oh, ahem, hey there Valdis," Gil responds. "Well, I haven't really learned much about the curse yet... I've been too busy helping poor, starving children and elderly widows. I think they should all be taken care of for the moment, thanks to me of course, so we can start to look further into this curse. You both know this place better than I. Who or where can we go to gather some direction?"
So I'm still waiting on Phil and John to log in. If not by tomorrow I legitimately want to start moving the game forward so tomorrow I will throw in the story hook.
Ceedric comes back from playing a few songs for the crowds. "I'm hungy. Anyone want to buy me food?" Getting the typical glare from the party he goes over to the bar and orders some food and drink. As he's waiting for his food he asks the barman. "What's all this talk about death curse? And how do I avoid it?"
Darb Say, "the reson why people are sick." Point at sick people, "let's get some food at a pub and ask some questions, hopeful Ceerdic, once his stomach is full."
You have been invited to the home of Syndra Silvane, a retired adventurer and merchant. A uniformed attendant leads you up a grand staircase to the third floor, then ushers you into a wood-paneled room with a fireplace, comfortable chairs, and a heavy table bearing goblets and bottles of wine. The darkly paneled walls are hung with maps and sea charts. Racks, shelves, and cabinets hold hundreds more rolled-up maps and charts.
A person is seated in an overstuffed chair near the fire. You can’t discern a gender, because only the person’s head emerges from under a heavy blanket draped over the chair, and an embroidered hood and silver mask conceal the wearer’s face. Even the person’s dry, raspy voice provides no clue. “Help yourselves to wine, and seat yourselves, friends — I hope I may call you that.”
Valdis helps himself to a goblet of wine. He scans the maps lining the walls as he pours, Hiding behind a mask, this should be good he thinks to himself. Valdis sits down with his wine, not sure where this interaction might lead.
"Thank you for welcoming us here, and yes you may call us friends, but can you tell us why a wealthy individual such as yourself has summoned us here?"

OOC:
is Gil with the party?
I think we had decided that the party would be together.
Since you know Darb you would probably at least be with him within the town.
Valdis chuckles "Save your faith lectures for the road, friend. Speaking of faith lectures, where is Mark?"
Gil quickly puts away his personal mirror that he was using to admire his own handsomely chiseled face. "Oh, ahem, hey there Valdis," Gil responds. "Cedric, you could probably sing for your supper instead of trying to get us to pay for you again." Valdis says with a laugh entering the tavern.
Once inside, Valdis scans the room noting the location of all guards and looks to some of the tables off in the corner.

As you scan the room a human errand boy walks up to the group and says "Sydric Silvane requests your appearance immediately,"
"And where would we find this Sydric Silvane?" Valdis says to the boy.
"She is at her home right now. Would you like me to take you to her home?"
Darn replies "If you would be so kind child."
