Gilgin pushes his way through the snow towards Nyx “You... little.... troublemaker....always jumping in.... to danger.” He pants with exhaustion as he reaches the mouth of the mine and grabs Nyx before she steps in. “Hey, I’ve got your back - and I pray Dumathoin does too!” Casting guidance and peeking into the cave ready to run between Nyx and anything that comes for the Gnome Before drawing his warhammer..
Hifu walks behind James and Kravek and readies his war hammer, "Let's check the building, first things first. I will keep an ear out for GIlgin and Nyx."
James, the building is empty but smaller then you would expect from a barn in the south. By now you know that most buildings here in Icewind Dale have thick walls packed with mud and straw to keep the cold out. It looks clean, but you get this lingering caustic smell everywhere inside. There is a small stove build into the mountainside, wich makes up the far wall. Getting the sled inside is a bit tricky but you manage. The dogs are no problem, they do complain about the smell, but they know that a stinky shelter is still a shelter from the cold.
I think only Gilgin and Nyx have darkvision, so who carries a lantern while exploring the mine and in what order? I assume Nyx first.

After James's dogs are safely in the small barn Kravek moves back to the entrance of the tunnel.
I have some torches as wellhe adds
Kravek will look around the entrance to see if he can spot a lantern or if he sees torches on the walls at the entrance of the tunnel. If they go in he will try and keep an eye out for those as well.
Perception22, for spotting lantern/walltorches at entrance Passive perception 13 for keeping an eye out later on
Hifu catches up and walks into the mine. Marching order Nyx in front, then James and Kravek, then Hifu, then Gilgin? Is that acceptable? Hifu will light a torch and hold in his left hand.
A short tunnel leads into the mine, before rough-hewn steps descend 60 feet before ending just north of a chamber. Hifu and Kravek need to bend down a few times to avoid hitting their heads.
Gilgin descends the steps far behind everyone, as his armour clinks and clacks. Once reaching the room, Gilgin lets out a chuckle. “Oh how I missed this!” as he excitedly shoves a pick, hammer and crowbar into his bag.
So, which way?He ponders to the group as he checks the floor for kobold tracks.
Kravek keeps his head low and pulls his shield of his back to maneuver better in this small tunnels he groans a bit as he has to duck every now and then. Kravek wont bother with hammer or pickaxes. After all hes got his own big hammer.
Instead he kneels and moves his head around now that he does not have to keep it low and loosens his neck. He then moves his right free hand across the floor over the tracks as the fire from Hifu's torch lights the room. Left it is.he says quietly to not have the whole mine hear it.
He will move towards the left tunnel and wait for Nyx to go first to scout the way. Not his favorite choice but Kraveks size would not do well with scouting these tunnels.
Was Kravek able to see if any of the 3 tunnels were bigger?

Hifu takes a pick from the wall and puts this into his pack. He then moves forward into the chamber and looks at the floor, trying to look for kobold tracks and direction.
Survival : 13
"Hmm, I think I see something here. Let me see if I can find which way they are moving and what may have happened."
There are a lot of different tracks visible on the dusty ground. While everyone just looks at the amount of tracks that are coming and going in all directions, Hifu actually takes the time to study them closer. The oldest ones are boots, you can make out 10 different ones. They all belonged to humanoids who were between 5 and 6 ft tall, but they stoped several days ago. Those tracks are going all over the place, entering the mine, leaving going east west, everywhere.
Then more recently there are small bipedal reptilian tracks, they start around the time, the humanoid tracks stoped. You would estimate those reptilians to be the size of Nyx. Those tracks also spread in all directions , but are concentrated mostly on the path that leads directly south and outside. You count seven, no eight set of tracks. One set you barely notice. It is there only once leading inside, while the other ones you find several times leading in and out of the mine a few times.
Lastly you see two sets of tracks of giant rodents leading east.
You spread out a little bit and Hifu discovers a small cave. The floor in the east end of this dusty cave is five feet higher than in the west end, with a rocky ridge separating the two areas except for slopes on either side. Picks and shovels lean against the ridge. Small gem deposits in the ridge and the walls of the cave gleam seductively. Hifu, the rodent tracks lead south from this cave.
A sound escapes Hifu, "Ooo, gems...." He turns to the others and says in a low voice "Psst. Let's check out this section to the left." Hifu peeks around and looks in.
”Gems? So shiny and pretty, I wanna see.....I mean, ahem, a tough...strong.....mans reward for a hard days mining!” Gilgin heads over to Hifu, entranced by the promise of gems. He also looks into the passage.

Finishing off getting the dogs calm and secure, James heads back outside and over to the mine entrance.
"Anyone got a lantern or magical light? I have some torches if not."
James looks among his companions in case anyone replies.

(Nyx actually has 120 feet of darkvision)
She will move up ahead, trying to be stealthy and extra cautious - kobolds are known for their damn trickery.
Unless something happens then she will wave the others to follow her after about 40-50 feet or so.. and definitely before going out of sight.
Hifu catches up and walks into the mine.

Nyx, roll me perception or stealth, stealth would be with advantage.
Stealth for Nyx: 21
(btw, I'm completely fine if you as a DM do these rolls for me/us to move the story forward)

Nyx scans the floor - any recent signs of foot traffic?
"My nose doesn't pick up much of anything after all day in the kitchen. Do any of you smell anything going in any directions?"
James also takes a crowbar, hammer and pick, placing them in his back.
James looks between the three exits deeper into the mine,
"If no one finds any reason pick a specific tunnel, lets just go left."
