Adventure Hook:
Captured by the drow! You wouldn’t wish this fate upon anyone, yet here you are — locked in a dark cave, the cold, heavy weight of metal tight around your throat and wrists. You are not alone. Other prisoners are trapped in here with you, in an underground outpost far from the light of the sun. Your captors include a cruel drow priestess who calls herself Mistress Ilvara of House Mizzrym. Over the past several days, you’ve met her several times, robed in silken garments and flanked by two male drow, one of whom has a mass of scars along one side of his face and neck. Mistress Ilvara likes to impress her will with scourge in hand and remind you that your life now belongs to her. “Accept your fate, learn to obey, and you may survive.” Her words echo in your memory, even as you plot your escape.
Why doesn’t everyone introduce/describe their characters, and roll 1d10 to determine how many days your character has been imprisoned.
Additionally, if you would like, roll a d20, and add it to the number of days you have been imprisoned to determine a trinket you have scavenged in you time in the slave pen.

Thodek Ungart looks around at his cellmates with cautious optimism. An average height, moderate build duergar with white hair and black eyes staring out of a grey skinned face with a large tattoo covering most of his face, the skin still somewhat raw from the freshness and lack of treatment. Wearing only the rags they left him, he squats against the bars of the cage, "My name is Thodek, what has brought all of you to such heights?"

9 - days imprisoned 20 - 8 for the trinket.
A tiefling, laying across a rock near the corner of the pen sits up and considers the duergar closely, her golden pupil-less eyes flashing. "I am the victim of what I can only consider a cruel joke on the part of...someone I trusted." She looks upward and sighs, slumping onto the rock again. She is very striking, with a skin tone of such dark red that it is almost mahogany and flowing, long purple hair. Her tail flicks about nervously, seeming to warn away anyone from approaching too closely. She looks youngish, but her skin has a hard quality, as if she spent a lot of time outdoors in harsh conditions.
She looks around the pen and stands, stretching gingerly, wincing a bit as she moves her shoulders. "You can call me Voyage. This is not quite what I expected when I chose this name, but here we are." She arches an eyebrow at the others. "There are a number of us here. That ill-tempered woman seems to have a great deal of confidence in her methods."

An Eladrin, sitting with his back pressed tightly against the wall and his knees drawn up to his chest, glares balefully towards the bars of their prison. He shifts in discomfort, occasionally reaching up to touch at the metal around his neck before aborting the movement as soon as he realizes he's doing it again. His skin has taken on a blue-gray hue, his blue shoulder-length hair reflecting his connection to Winter for those who recognize the signs.
When his fellow captives begin to converse, his eyes flick away from the door to look at the speaker. His grey eyes flash with regret and shame before he turns them down to inspect the chains on his wrists. He takes a deep breath, and then speaks in a slow gruff voice. "I sought to rescue those that could be saved, and avenge those that could not. I... miscalculated the threat."His brow furrows deeply."As of yet, I have accomplished neither." His gaze lifts, and he takes in the others again. "I am called Cailean. I would say it's a pleasure to meet you, but... well." He ends with a small snort, lifting one hand to flick his wrist to gesture at the pen in general before returning it to his knees with a small shrug.

Days imprisoned: 3, Trinket: 18 (4)
Standing motionless in the back corner of the cell with one hand clasping the other in front of her waist, a short, very pale-skinned elf stares at the group. An inexplicably perfectly-coifed shock of short, stark white hair stands up from her pixie cut. Large, almond-shaped, silver eyes glint in the low light like anime glasses (whatever those are). At any given time, it's entirely possible you forgot she was there with you.
Without moving, she speaks up in a soft but flat, cold monotone. "I am Syvis. It would seem we have all arrived here under less than favorable circumstances." A slight smirk flashes across her face and quickly vanishes as she appreciates the humor of her understatement. "I was investigating spurious claims of supernatural activity. The claimant neglected to indicate drow were also present. I must have words with him once I determine the most expedient way out of here and deal with that Ilvara woman. Once I have devised an appropriate plan I would welcome any assistance each of you could proffer in the effort." She then falls silent once more.
Leaning against the back of the cell is a strongly built man with dirty blonde hair. A miserable expression is on his face as he observes the conversation.
It wasn't Rian's first time behind bars. The watchmen of Luskan had provided him many opportunities for a stay in the prison, but that was before he found his faith in the Light .He curses his naive decision to enter the Underdark. He thought the drow could be redeemed, and now he was paying for that notion.
He calls out, "If you are planning an escape, then I will assist. But please, don't be so quick to spill blood. There must be a way to leave this place without a fight."

Turning her head slightly to the right, Syvis addresses Rian in the same low tone. "If my calculations are correct, there shouldn't be much of a fight. And, ideally, the blood spilling won't be so quick."
Thodek attempts a smile before flinching as the freshly tattooed skin crinkles, "They've been at this for awhile, they're likely to be fairly confident in their methods by now. As for leaving this place without a fight, I suppose we could sneak away, but they would certainly pursue us and we'd need to fight then."

In a low voice she adds "These foul creatures have taken something very important to me. I need to retrieve it, if possible. And do you not think that others here may suffer if we escape? We should find some way to bring this whole thing down upon their heads." Her voice, even spoken in a hush, contains a note of barely suppressed fury.

A human man of average height and build with a full head of straw blonde hair finally stirs from his corner of the cell. Nicholas wipes the sweat from his weather beaten face. He has only spent a day in this hell hole and already it is far too long. His ears perk up at the mention of escape and he finally speaks up, "If you are planning something, you can count me in as well."
Looking at the others in the cell he continues, "Nicholas is my name. Our caravan was ambushed and I'm not sure if my companions are dead, alive or captured along with me, but if they are here I would find them as well."
Sorry for the delay everyone. For some reason I missed that the thread was up.

Syvis regards Thodek, "My apologies if my meaning was muddled by frilly speech. My intent is not to avoid violence. I simply don't expect the fight to be notable if all goes well."
She glances around the space, refreshing her memory of such trifling details as how many (if any) other prisoners are noticeable to begin factoring them into her calculations, joining Voyage on their perception check.
Over the course of the few days you have been imprisoned, you have been able to learn a handful of information regarding the slave pen.
There are 19 drow at the outpost including Ilvara, two drow consorts named Shoor and Jorlan, as well as another priestess named Asha. There are also a dozen quaggoths and a number of giant spiders.
Three drow guards watch the slave pen from the hanging guard tower across the rope bridge, visible through the locked gate.
The cell has some sort of antimagic effect on it
Jorlan the drow warrior suffered disfiguring injuries recently. Before then, he seemed more in Ilvara’s favor. Now Shoor seems to have displaced him.
Jorlan used to have a wand that shot globs of sticky material able to trap targets. Now Shoor carries it, as another sign of their change in status.
It might be a matter of days or tendays before a contingent from Menzoberranzan arrives to take prisoners back to the drow city.
In general, you spend the majority of your time in the slave pen, but are occasionally released to do hard labor around the outpost.
One final important note. Sleep in the slave pen is troubled and fitful, filled with strange dreams and disturbing images. Dark shadows seem to move and reach out towards you as you wander lost through endless mazes of tunnels. Oily tentacles slide to brush up against you, while a great buzzing and howling rises in the distance. Suppurating wounds burst open in clouds of spores or crawling masses of maggots or insects. These dreams often leave you to wake in a cold sweat, with the feeling that something is out there in the dark depths— something far worse than the drow.
Syvis cocks an eyebrow as she surveys the resources at her disposal. Her attention fixates on the lone drow and continues to speak in the same flat, expressionless voice. "You. Why are you here? What have you done to warrant imprisonment by your own people? Surely you have some useful insight into the workings of this place and an inclination to assist us in overthrowing our captors to be rid of these shackles."
She pauses for a moment and clears her throat before continuing. "I apologize for letting my emotions get the better of me. Only two days here and it appears my composure is already reaching its limits. However... I would still appreciate answers to my questions as it may contribute to our escape efforts."
At the sounds of his name, Sarith looks up raises his head to bring it level with yours. He stares Syvis down for a good 10 seconds before grunting, and returning to cleaning his fingernails; ignoring you.
Perhaps make a persuasion check to see if he will tell you anything. Or possibly an insight check into his actions.

Not one to wait on others to provide information she could much more quickly and easily deduce with cool logic, she takes a moment to regard his reaction: body language, tone, purposeful avoidance...
You are able to deduce that this drow is trying to avoid something. Perhaps he has not come to terms with his imprisonment. Whatever the reason, Sarith seems to have accepted his fate, and resigned to the future.
If you want to probe further, it will most likely require him to talk and tell you why he comes across this way.

Rian watches intently as Sylvis engages the drow in conversation. Seeing her begin to back off, Rian approaches the drow.

Rian: Similarly to Syvis, you just haven’t had enough time to search your surroundings for objects, you find nothing
Nicholas: Despite only being in the slave pen for a day, you were quickly able to find a flawed carnelian gemstone that you estimate is about 10 gp.

Eldeth Feldrun: A high spirited dwarf from Gauntlgrym, that is eager to escape.
Jimjar: A roguish deep gnome who makes a bet on everything. He believes there is something odd about the twins Topsy and Turvy.
Ront: An orc that enjoys bullying the other prisoners, and for some reason especially dislikes Eldeth.
Sarith Kzekarit: A standoffish and sullen drow.
Shuushar the Awakened: A calm and peaceful kuo-toa that oddly seems to accept his imprisonment.
Stool: A young myconid sprout captured by Sarith that seems very frightened of his surroundings.
