“These people really need our help” Basina said with a frown to the other two after hearing the rumours. “Should we deal wit the trouble in town before we move on to next place?”
She turned her head around as if looking for something.
”Is the Leonin still in the temple? Should we go see if he is okey?”

"We can not hope to take on the Corrupt and its spawn without the magic the queen spoke of. Perhaps helping the locals will illicit further insight into the old legends surrounding the gems we seek," he says. "We should find directions to this Shadow Thicket."
The tavern is crafted from wooden logs, several of them have scratches and marks weapons have made, one even has the words "Rantun was here" carved into it. Behind the empty bar is a half-orc with his hair running down his body and a short underbite, wiping down his counter. There are five tables, with only three of them holding patrons, but each holds only two/three each (there are six seats at each table). The only sounds that can be heard are the squeaking of the bar-top and the quiet fizzing of the lighting. Walking in, many patrons look up, staring at Fred with a look of fear.
Basina walks across the mostly empty tavern, ignoring the looks her company attracts, and goes up to the bar. Trying to look dignified and resolute she stretches until her head is visible over the bar.
“A stoop of water my good man and what ever my companions will drink” she says to the half-orc. “And some information”

Basina Fairfoot- Halfling paladin Shadow through the forest (Shadow) - Tabaxi Ranger (beastmaster)
That's a decent change of pace, Gorokum thinks to himself. When was the last time he had walked into a tavern and people didn't automatically assume he was there to cause trouble. Hobgoblins and humans didn't tend to mix well where Gorokum came from. But the Queen, the blacksmith and now the patrons here not giving him a second look might be the first good thing he's seen in this kingdom.
Gorokum leans over to Fred and speaks quietly to him, "buy them a round of ale and they'll likely get over their fear of you."
He continues to the bar and nods to the bartender. He still has his own prejudices though, and a polite nod is the best he can muster for greeting to anyone associated with orcs.
"Ale and information, please," he says, placing a silver coin on the bar. "Do you know anything about the Shadow Thicket and kidnappings that may be happening near there?"

The bartender looks up "That's a copper for water, a silver for ale, and a platinum for the information."
"We come offering aid to the people of this town and for that you want us to pay a platinum piece," he says picking his silver piece back off the bar.
Not trusting the bartender, Gorokum draws a sigil of warding in the air as he speaks (Casts Blade Ward ).
"Keep your precious information," he says as he turns to the patrons of the tavern.
"We have heard that children may have been taken near Shadow Thicket. We are hear offering to help. Can anyone tell us any more about what is going on there?"

After a short moment os silence, all of the patrons go running out of the tavern... except for one... his head looking down at the table. In a deep voice, he says"I know something about that place..." he gestures his hand for you to come
Basina places a silver and a copper coin on the bar and grabs the water and ale and goes over to the man. She slides the ale in his direction before settling down at his table.

Basina Fairfoot- Halfling paladin Shadow through the forest (Shadow) - Tabaxi Ranger (beastmaster)
Gorokum keeps a wary watch on the man at the table. He lets Basina sit down with him and then he positions himself 5' behind her and a little to the side. He'll keep one eye on the stranger and one on the bartender.
"I'll tell you two things you need to know about that forest; First, know about the Shadow Clones, they're living shadows that copy the appearance of those they see, duplicating they're skills and weapons, but they're a silhouette of you with red eyes, that's how you know its a Shadow Clone. Second, beware the werewolves. They cannot revert to their true forms as a result of this night, if your bitten, you will immediately turn into one if you're unlucky. You won't be afflicted unless you have a Ruby of Light nobody has one, or you drink one of these syrums." He pulls out a tiny flask of a clear liquid "This will prevent you from being afflicted with lycanthropy. I only have about eight of these, so I'll have to charge you for them. For five of these, they'll be 15GP total, a good price for how rare they are."
Gorokum watches the man carefully as he talks making sure he seems honest and is not hiding anything.
(Insight Check: 12 )
"Compared to what the bartender wanted to charge for the same information it is a bargain," says Gorokum. "How far are these woods?"
(He is not leaving anything out, the potions, although look like water, are real)
"The woods are southwest of town, down that way" he points in the direction of the woods
The bartender chimes in "Travelers come and go here, providing me information and rumors about this god forsaken kingdom, I would've gave much more useful information than you, Oxard" He yells at the patron
"Shut up, Thock." He yells back
"At least I'm not just some dirty old street merchant like you!"
"At least I'm not wiping tables and ignoring rumors for a living!"
"I still have more gold than you!"
"Yeah, and that massive underbite!"
"Oh, being racist, eh? Then take off your cloak, show them your face." It was just realized that Oxard was wearing his cloak hood over his head the whole time, no one saw any of his face.
He puts the coins in his pocket and slams two more bottles on the table "Pleasure doing business. He doesn't need one," he points at Fred "I hear animal folk races can't get lycanthropy, like... myself." He stands up and pulls the hood off his head, revealing him as a tabaxi with small black spots, pale yellow fur, and a scar on his right cheek "Yes, we are so similar, aren't we? Two lost races discriminated from this society, but our time will come, oh, yes." His tone quickly changes back as he chugs the ale given to him "*Ahem* sorry about that. Until we meet again!" he pulls the hood back over his head before walking out the door. "Pfft, ba****d." Throck says when he's gone. "He does that to every Lizardfolk, Leonin, Grung, and other Tabaxi who walks in the door. Don't get attached."

Fred, after looking around the temple some more, leaves it.
"shall we go after the wherewolves?" he asks his party mates.

He looks around the town square.
"Perhaps the tavern would be a start."
“It sounds as a good plan” Basina agrees and start heading towards the tavern.

"Three pieces of gold each for a cure for lycanthropy seems a fair price and insurance we should all have."
He takes out three gold coins and readies them to give to Oxard.
"If you two have finished, we would like to complete the transaction and get started towards the Shadow Thicket."
”I agree, it is a fair price” says Basina and puts 3 gold pieces on the table.
At the same time she glances at the bartender. She wonders if he speaks the truth about sitting on more information.
