I am a fairly new player of D&D with about a year of experience in DMing and almost no experience as a player.
I plan to run "Tyranny of Dragons" and "Tales of the Yawning Portal" in a single campaign.
No restrictions on character creation, if it's on "dndbeyond" you can use it, if it's homebrewed send me the page so I can look it over. If you roll for stats please use either the in forum dice rolls or the digital dice on your character page. I will also accept point buy, standard array, or a modified array: 17,15,13,12,10,8.
I am looking for four players to start. Send me a PM with your character sheet to apply for an invitation, please.
Please use the spoiler tool for OOC.
The Cult of the Dragon has been active in Faerûn for centuries. The cult has focused on making undead dragons to fulfill a prophecy most of that time, but that’s changing. As the Cult of the Dragon has grown bolder, its actions have drawn attention. Invitations have been sent to a few adventurers to try and help figure out what they are planning.
Welcome to the campaign! I'm super excited to be running the game!
You have received an invitation to join the leadership council in Greeneset to discuss the growing unrest nearby. You are traveling along a road that winds lazily across the rolling grasslands of the Greenfields.
Harbinger treks wearily across the roads to Greeneset. The feeling of solid earth beneath his feet was never a welcome one for long. A night or two in port was usually all he could stand before he would hop back aboard a ship and venture out into the salty spray.
The summons had come as quite the surprise to Harbinger. He had heard of Greeneset from the merchants before but couldn't imagine what a blue dragonborn sailor from the coast could have done to garner their attention. The summons didn't seem to be a threat or a request to stand trial (which would have made sense given his temper and penchant for stealing) but he decided it was better to be safe than sorry and head inland to find out what the council had in store for him.
A human dressed in Studded leather battle axe, rapier with a wolfish aspect about him his hair more furrish aspect than hair stands looking in at the approaching night. Seeing the disturbance
"Well, what do we have here? You guys think that's why they wanted us?"
Among those traveling to Greenest is a strange looking figure, much smaller then a human but not resembling a gnome or halfling. They are covered in a brown traveling robe with a tail barely poking out of it. If anyone that is observant enough they would realize it to be a kobold. Although this one is strange as its scales have a golden hue with a large axe strapped across his back.
Frilneiros is curious about the summons as he recently left Greenest to investigate rumor of something going on outside of the town. He had been returning when the missive had reached him. Not wanting to be slow he ran ahead and made his way back as soon as possible. "What is happening now..."

Quietly padding his way into Greenest is a slender, fair skinned elf male, with very light blonde hair, almost white in hue, that falls upon his shoulders. Sporting a loose fitting, but well cut robe of very dark green, with coppery brown trim, and a small leather pack, the elf has a longbow strapped to his back and a short sword at his waist. He walks smoothly and gracefully with elven agility, often glancing around with brief moves of his head as he scans his surroundings.
Approaching the center of town, he remains silent, as he watches the others gather... no doubt other travelers who have heard the call... Keeping his distance, he speaks softly, but to no one, it would almost seem that he's talking to himself. Then, hearing the small kobold speak, the elf answers, "Much is happening in the world right now... but you know this. Is that not why you have come?"
"No this is where I dwell. I was out searching for something that had been spotted in the forest. It seemed to be nothing so after receiving the summons to return I hurried back." Frilneiros admitted, pulling the hood back to reveal his full features.

"As long as you cause no harm to those that call this place home and give me no reason to think you are a being ruled evil it shall remain so." The kobold said his voice sounding haughty as he spoke in his native tongue.
Sundown is approaching when you top a rise and see the town of Greenest just a few short miles away. But instead of the pleasant, welcoming town you expected, you see columns of black smoke rising from burning buildings, running figures that are little more than dots at this distance, and a dark, winged shape wheeling low over the keep that rises above the center of the town. Greenest is being attacked by a dragon!
'Dragons...!' Harbinger spits the word out like a curse.
Although his kind resembles these monsters there is no kindred spirit here. His family and many like them were enslaved by these creatures for time untold. Harbinger's grandparents had risen in revolt and slayed one of their captors. Before he knows it Harbinger is running at full tilt fueled by the spirit of his family name, and the fire of freedom.
My visions did not lie... dread and evil in indeed in the air. If I had any doubts about the urgency of my journey to this place, they are dispelled by this terrible sight.
Looking at the dragon with fearful worry in his heart, The elf does his best to calm the trembling in his hands and his heart, unslings his longbow and begins running towards the town, following the Dragonborn in front of him. Out of the corner of his eye, he glances towards the kobold and the large human who called himself Wolfstein.
I should remain close to these other three folk, for we all have a better chance of surviving a dragon as a group, then by going alone.
The kobold suddenly starts to curse in draconic as he eyes the dragon, his chest heaving as he throws off the cloak covering him to reveal that he wore little more then a set of breeches and a harness over his shoulder to hold the large axe.
"What foul beast dares attack my domain!" It is not all that intimidating but there is a large amount of rage behind it.

I saw the post about the disturbance but then it disappeared.... do we see the burning town?

Sorry, not yet, I’ll give everyone a chance to post and then repost it.

"You guys think that's why they wanted us? We might want to find shelter, a good Inn?"
He says after the elf makes his statement
