"Maybe windmills are a like, a family sigil here or something?" Alev shurgs, looking at the longsword. "I wouldn't know how to use that sword either, so I pass..."
He adresses Sergei. "If... When we find the baby, I guess one of us could hold him as the rest fights the monster. There's more than just one of us." He then adds, jokingly but friendly. "If you get too afraid, that's what you could do!"
As Skip moves in, he just waits behind, waiting for anything to happen before doing anything.
Rudick snorts. "Pass. Unless its magical in some way, it would do me no good in this house. Too might corridors."He said, sound half-disinterested as absentmindedly played innie-mini-miney-mo between the doors around them. Noticing(eventually) that Skip had one covered, Rudick finally spared the longsword more than a passing look to the sword. If neither silvered or radiating some semblance of magic, he just brushed it off again to go open and check out what lied beyond the mahogany door.
As he did so he'll add, "And unless they said where nursery is, we'll have to go door by door. Only thing certain ish that the way to the basement seems to be hidden. Or at least, was to the children. Why anyone would design such a home as so, I have not the care or the foggiest. Either way, we'll worry 'bout making battle baby bjorn later."
(@Dimir: Specifically referring to the door first mentioned in the segment here.)
Skip, you push open the door and reveal a ten by 15 foot kitchen area. The kitchen is tidy, with dishware, cookware, and utensils Newfoundland on shelves. On the 15 foot long wall on the left, a worktable has a cutting board and rolling pin on it. Beyond that, a door leads into a different chamber. On the right wall, a wooden cupboard holds most of the kitchen supplies. There is also a sliding panel in the wall that contains a dumbwaiter Near the far wall, there is a stone, dome-shaped oven with twisted metal pipes extending into the ceiling. Near it, there is another door set into the far wall.
The dumbwaiter is about 3 foot by 3 foot by 3 foot. A bronze bell with two strings tied to it hangs from the wall nearby. The strings extend into the ceiling. It is empty.
Thadalas walks around the kitchen, observing the cutlery and other kitchen tools to determine how long it may have been since anyone's used any of these dishes. Looking for signs of dust, or leftover food that may be fresh or spoiled.
If there's nothing else, Thadalas will exit the kitchen since others are searching it as well. He'll now go investigate another door, perhaps the door near the fireplace that he had lit. He eyes down the longsword mounted on the wall, and for a moment, considers taking it. He decides not to, and continues on with opening the door.
Rudick shakes his head having found nothing of interest. So, rather than continue to muck about on the 1st floor, heads for the stairs with warhammer in hand, and grumbling almost every step of the way. Somewhere in between the grumbles he does toss out behind himself, "I'll be on the next level. Not far from the stairs. Let me know if you find anything below. Especially stairs leading down."

Sergei, you open the thin door and reveal a small pantry, shelves stocked with a variety of fresh food. (Bottom right corner of the map)
Skip, I accidentally told you wrong. I swore there was another door in the room, but there isn't. You instead move out of the kitchen and to through the other door in the alcove.
Thadalas, you open the door and reveal a 20 by 15 foot dining hall. The centerpiece of this wood paneled dining room is a carved mahogany table surrounded by eight high-back chairs with sculpted armrests and cushioned seats. A crystal chandelier hangs above the table, which is covered with resplendent silverware and crystalware polished to a dazzling shine. Mounted above the marble fireplace is a mahogany framed painting of an alpine vale.
The wall paneling is carved with elegant images of deer among the trees. Red silk drapes cover the windows, and a tapestry depicting hunting dogs and horse mounted aristocats chasing after a wolf hangs from an iron rod bolted to the right wall. (Top right corner on map. You can see Skip open a door near the tapestry and enter the room.
Rudick, you climb the spiral staircase up to the second floor. Unlit oil lamps are mounted on the walls of this elegant hall. Hanging above the mantle-piece is a wood framed portrait of the Durst family. Gustav and Elizabeth Durst with their smiling children, Rose and Thorn. Cradled in the father's arms is a swaddled baby, which the mother regards with a hint of scorn. Standing suits of armor flank wooden doors in the right and left walls. Each suit of armor clutches a spear and has a visored helmet shaped like a wolf's head. The doors are carved with dancing youth. The red marble staircase that started on the floor below continues its upward spiral. A cold draft can be felt coming company the stairs.
Although he admires the wood paneling of the walls, Thadalas walks back out of the dining hall. "Nothing in here." he calls out to the others, and process across the room to the door on the other side; adjacent to the double-doors that goes into the entrance of the house.
This 20' by 20' oak paneled room looks like a hunter's den. Mounted above the fireplace is a stag's head, and positioned around the outskirts of the room are 3 stuffed wolves. Two padded chairs draped in animal furs face the hearth with an open table between them supporting a casks of wine, two carved wooden goblets, a pipe rack calm, and a candelabra. A chandelier hangs above a cloth covered table surrounded by 4 chairs. 2 cabinets stand against the walls. The North cabinet is unlocked and holds a small box containing a deck of playing cards with an assortment of wine glasses. The east cabinet is locked.(Bottom left on map)
"For a house where supposedly there's a monster, everything has been so quiet and empty..." Alev comments. "I don't know if I should be relieved by that or worried..."
As Sergei checks the cabinets, he takes a brief moment to make sure the stuffed wolves are really stuffed and dead by poking at them with his dagger. Better safe than sorry.

Sergei shakes his head,
”I don’t know how to use that weapon. Alright, let’s pick a door instead of going up the stairs. How about this one in the alcove?”
Skip moves over to the door Sergei is indicating. He tests it to see if it is locked, and with rapier out, opens the door and moves silently in

So that’s not the secret entrance. Sergei is in favor of moving on to a new room.
Seeing nothing of note in the kitchen. Lucan opens the door to the new room stealthily, blade in hand.
