Sylnora steps forward into the room, casting a questioning glance at the others before approaching the far wall. "It has to be a hidden door, right?"She asks to the room, feeling around the picture for gaps. If that doesn't yield anything, she looks over the patterns to see if anything stands out.
"I think I should study this map later," says Silthras as a spectral hand moves to push the knife from side to side and gently prize it from the desk. But as the hand reaches for the knife, he pauses. "Do you think any of this would be trapped?" he asks Usul, once more offering to assist the Gnome if he thinks a search is necessary.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Small beads of sweat start to form on his forehead, but he's able to get through, and his grin gets even bigger at the praise from his friend. Walking through the door carefully, Dib sniffing the air ((21)), Usul's eyes are immediately drawn to the shiny glint in the pouches on the wall, and begins to head towards them, casting his mage hand as he walks.
Map is just parchment. For the sculpture. Imagine a picture frame hanging on the wall. Except it's like a silvery metallic sheet instead, with grooves. It isn't embedded in the wall
Sylnora doesn't feel any obvious gaps in the wall that might denote a secret door, but as she looks over the swirling pattern, she sees a familiar arcane rune in the mess of lines. Though context matters when these runes are used in spell, it roughly has the meaning of "Connection."
Usul's mage hand pokes through the coin pouches, finding a grand total of 10sp and 5gp.
Silthras looks up from the knife and then map, and glances at the sculpture. "Are we trying to leave no trace, or are we doing what some of us..." he grins and tries not to look as Usul, "...might call a smash-and-grab?"
"It's definitely a secret door!" Syl says to the others. She doesn't let her excitement get the best of her however, and before she messes with the grooves she takes a closer look at the object, this time checking for any magical traps similar to what they encountered last night.
Thankful for the torchlight, Kal stands aside while the others conduct their business. "At this point I think subtly is moot. They know we're onto them, I doubt we get a second chance at this place." He walks over to Sylnora, looking over the sculpture and then glancing to her. "Secret door?"
Silthras frowns, he thought he would have found a hint of such a thing with his heightened senses. "What makes you say that? Or do you think its another magical teleporter?"
"There's an arcane rune hidden in this thing. I'm not sure exactly what it does...But I'm almost certain it takes us somewhere else somehow."Sylnora says, glancing over her shoulder at the other two. "And I don't think it's trapped. So...?" She lets the question hang open ended in the air, letting her finger hover just above the groove of the rune pattern.
With a grin and a nod, Sylnora traces the groove with her finger to see if that does something. If there's no reaction, her shoulders slump a bit, and she pulls out her spellbook, sitting down on the floor and beginning the ritual casting of Identify.
As her finger traces the symbol, she feels a small circular section of the groove give. Realizing it's a button, Syl pushes in. There is a small click, and part of the wall begins to swing outward in an arc, revealing a passageway through.
Dib and Loghain's noses are immediately assaulted by a stench similar to rust - something the young warrior would easily recognize as the smell of blood. The next room is circular, and twenty five feet across. An altar sits on the south wall, with a ceremonial dagger and a bowl filled to the brim with blood. Two grotesque statues flank the other side of the room. The monster depicted is humanoid in shape, but incredibly bony, and the joints seem to bend at awkward angles. The eyes are covered by its hands, arms bent above the head. Its mouth is unsettingly large, pulled into a smile.
There are two wooden doors, one north and one west. Neither have locks.
Once the door has opened, and nothing has leaped out to attack them, Silthras hurriedly pulls the knife from the table and puts it and the map in his backpack. He then quickly searches the desk for drawers or hidden items, glancing at Usul, hoping he might do the same.
"That's an excellent point." Velyra says, peeking around the corner to get her own look at the statues. Cautiously, she moves closer in to take a better look at them, ready to sprint back if they start to move.

How big is it?
((20" x 24" I guess? It's a large frame.))

Ooooh. Fits in a Bag of Holding.

Silthras investigation: 8
Neither Syl nor Silthras find any trace of traps either on the sculpture or around it.

"We've come this far, no reason to stop now." Kal says quickly, somewhat eager to see how their resident wizard opens the way for them.

Investigation: 4
The desk doesn't have any drawers, and a quick search over it from the half-elf doesn't reveal any hidden compartments.
When they havve finished with the desk, Silthras looks into the room and stops in his tracks. "Every damned statue we meet attacks us."
"That's an excellent point." Velyra says, peeking around the corner to get her own look at the statues. Cautiously, she moves closer in to take a better look at them, ready to sprint back if they start to move.
