Ka’imi stands up, gives Ednyss a solemn nod of gratitude, and readies the longbow.
(OOC - can I come back to life and ready my weapon in the same turn? Thanks for your patience with my questions)
(OOC: No worries at all! It's a good question because all three parts of it are subject to interpretation. I'd like to play it this way:
Q: when does a healing potion take effect? A: immediately, however, if the affected creature was unconscious, they can't act until the next round.
Q: What happens to held items when a character falls unconscious? A: they drop on the ground within reach, unless there's some reason they wouldn't (e.g., the character was hanging from a rope while climbing a cliff when they fell unconscious)
Q: when a character regains consciousness after dropping to 0HP and their item is within reach, does it take time to pick up the item? A: The character can grab the item "for free" while standing up (or crawling, etc.).
So in Ka'imi's case, just before he was knocked unconscious, he was fighting with one short sword. When he was knocked out, he dropped prone (on his back) and the short sword fell within reach of his sword arm. When Ednyss "feeds him" the healing potion, HP are regained immediately. On the next turn, Ka'imi can stand up while picking up his short sword. During the first round of combat, Ka'imi can sheathe his sword (interact w/ object), then on the next turn, ready and attack with his bow. Or, he can stand up while readying his bow and attack on the first round of combat. In that case, his sword would remain where it fell on the ground.
Someone tell me if I'm off base!)

(OOC: Oops, I should have continued in initiative order, things got a little off. Variellky will get an extra attack in Round 2, as her "ready" attack was triggered by the Dogs which engaged her. She also gets her full Round 2. I rolled initiative, below. )
Round 1 Results
Varielky leaps into action, and is met by two Dogs, which leap upon her! [Please roll an extra attack on your next post for your readied attack, which was triggered by Dog #2]
Ednyss feeds Ka’imi the potion, exhorts you all with courageous words, and moves 25 Feet towards the enemy but doesn’t quite catch up with Varielky as the enemy closes and he is engaged by Dog #3. Dyn Gwelw: (OOC: Dyn Gwelw was farthest away from the enemy. So in order to get in range and have a clear shot, Dyn Gwelw must move forward 30', and the dart attack at the Dreyen Leader (now 60’ away) will still be at long range (disadvantage). The leader is behind the dogs, and will get ½ cover (+2AC). I rolled your d20 for disadvantage: 16, you still hit! What a shot!) Somehow reading the Dreyen Leader’s movements, Dyn Gwelw cartwheels in the air, belt whipping around him, and a dart flies with incredible precision at the leader, who sidesteps and turns with alarming speed but looks down to see the small weapon has impaled him in the abdomen. Ripping out the dart as he runs, his ice-blue eyes focus on Dyn Gwelw.
Ka’imi the milk-like potion trickles into his mouth, and Ka’imi’s eyes open, his broken collarbone reknits itself, and he draws a deep breath, healing 8 points. [On his next round, he can stand while grabbing his longbow, (leaving his short sword on the ground), attack, and has ½ move to use if he wants to.]
Mittens’ snowball, magically propelled, lobs high and lands on the Barbarian’s right ankle as he runs. Frost crinkles out from it up the muscular calf, immobilizing it to the knee with dark ice, and the lad falls, sliding, and screaming in Dreyen “Yeeeaaa! I can’t feel my leg, I can’t feel my leg!!” The Leader yells at him with clenched fist and points at Mittens as he closes with you. The young man stands, gritting his teeth, and he advances fearfully toward the diminutive black-furred wizard, taking aim with his throwing axe.
Dog #1, favoring its right front leg, leaps on Ednyss, and rolls a 20, doing 6 damage! It latches onto the sturdy dwarf’s bicep, its rear legs surge, and the beast leaps over, landing and pulling the dwarf down with a crash! Seeing stars, Ednyss struggles for breath and consciousness. Ednyss is down! [Please roll a death save on your next turn].
Dog #2, snarling and wild, snaps at Varielky with “pack advantage” but is thwarted by her shield.
Dog #3, barking ferociously while favoring its punctured flank, attacks Varielky for 2 points damage, latching onto her wounded ankle and drawing blood before Varielky can smash him off with her longsword pommel!
Barbarian #1 throws his hand axe at Mittens! The weapon whirls through the air! The Cat takes one step back, and the axe strikes CHUNK! Into a hunk of compacted snow an inch in front of him.
Barbarian #3 chucks his hand axe at Dyn Gwelw, and at short range, he hits for 4 points of damage as Dyn Gwelw does a combat roll to evade the weapon but receives a long slice down his back!
The other enemies move but can’t attack this round.

Even when attacked by this many enemies, Varielky shouts to her teammates: "Do not fear! We're outnumbered, but the god of warriors is with us! Prove yourself a worthy warrior and death will only be a path to a better place!" She attacks the dogs around her, trying to thin out the enemy's numbers. After attacking, she'll let out a roar to carry out all her pain.
Attack on Dog#2 if he's alive, Dog#3 if 2 is dead and Dog#1 if both of them are dead. If all three dogs are dead, on one of the barbarians. Attack: 16 Damage: 8 Bonus Action: Second Wind. Heal: 8
Seeing the axe s!icing through the air, Mittens stumbles backwards and avoids the axe. It embeds itself into the ground, and he forms another snowball and hurls it back as retaliation. Afterwards, he grabs the axe and takes it with him if able, and then moves back towards Ka'imi.
Action: cast frostbite at young barbarian 1. DC 14 constitution saving throw or take 5 cold damage and have disadvantage on their next attack.

Ednyss grunts as he falls to the ground and feels the world slip away from him. His vision slowly fades to black and he enters a dreamless sleep with the soothing presence of Takal Demesh in the back of his mind encouraging him to fight for his life even beyond consciousness.

21 Dyn Gwelw hurls another dart at the Leader. (OOC: the Leader still has partial cover for +2AC, and I rolled your disadvantage die for the long range shot. My roll: 21] . Your dart swishes past his neck but slices as it goes, leaving a bloody line as it ricochets off his helmet, and blood starts to spray from the wound. Yet he still stands!
19 Ednyss [Death Save: Positive!]
19 Young Barbarian #1 Is scared for his short life, but terrified of his Eldar. He advances half-heartedly on Mittens, pulling his Maul over his back and smashing it down on the Cat. But his benumbed leg slows him and Mittens dodges out of the way, tripping over his boots but then regaining his footing again.
15 Dog #1 (leather armor). Steps over Ednyss’ dying body to attack Mittens! It growls and leaps, biting Mittens’ left leg and shaking it in its maw for 3HP damage! He then pulls back savagely, and Mittens must make a STR save vs. DC5 or be yanked off his feet!
14 Mittens (OOC: At Mittens initiative order, he is engaged in melee by both Barbarian 1 and Dog 1. Mittens will receive opportunity attacks from both Dog1 and Barbarian 1 if he tries to cast a spell while engaged. The hand axe you asked about before is still within reach, and you could grab it instead if you wish! On your next Post, please confirm your actions for Round 2, and also post your Round 3 actions.)
13 Young Barbarian #3 moves up to engage Dyn Gwelw while gripping his axe 2-handed. He attacks and connects for 6HP. Dyn Gwelw is down!
11 Ka’imi (I think based on what has happened so far this round, Ka’imi would take a shot. For your next post, take 1 attack at the end of this round if you wish, and also your Round 3 actions.)
8 Young Barbarian #2 dashes around the melee, axe and shield at the ready, is now 10’ from Ka’imi!
2 Varielky. (OOC: I’m telling the initiative dice to give you a break, but they’re not listening!) Varielky’s readied attack from last round swishes past the Dog in front of her, smashing into the snow as the trained beast rears back. Varielky shouts to bolster her teammates, unable to see behind her that two of them have already fallen. Then, in a momentous attack as the pair of Dogs leap at her simultaneously, her longsword swings back and around and her inertia drives the blade through Dog 3 AND Dog 2, and their corpses fall motionless in front of her! (This is the Cleaving Through Creatures rule, slightly modified). She roars, and gains a second wind, healing 5 points.
2 Dog #3 [dead]
2 Dog #2 [dead]
1 Dreyen Leader, Bowing his antler-helmed head and raising the haft of his axe in a curt motion, the Dreyen Leader, grimly salutes Varielky and shouts, “Why do you fight us, daughter of Drey? I can see OUR blood pumps through your veins! Yet it will soon run freely in the snow for your betrayal!” And with that he steps implacably atop the body of his favored hunting dog and strikes with a mighty blow of his engraved and leather-gripped battle axe. It comes down so fast, the timing so practiced, that Varielky feels she’s moving in slow motion! She manages to bring up her shield to take the blow, yet it connects with such force that she feels it nonetheless and her arm rings with pain.

14 Mittens Succeeds in fending off the Dog and retreats behind Ka’imi to A11!
13 Young Barbarian #3 moves to attack Varielky! Ka’imi yells to her to watch her back. She turns and sees his blow coming but it’s too late. As the Leader stands back for a moment, the battle axe tears into Varielky over her shield, for 10 points damage! Varielky is down!
11 Ka’imi’s arrow goes wide as the Dreyen bears down on him, her swollen face, with tears streaming down it, excruciating to see!
8 Young Barbarian #2, screaming, attacks Ka’imi with her axe but her vision is partly blocked by her swollen eye and she fails to connect!
2 Varielky’s blow is stopped in its tracks by the Dreyen Leader, who meets her listless blow with his axe, parrying, as she slumps forward and down. (OOC: please start making death saves!)
1 Dreyen Leader steps over Varielky’s prone form, and pushes firmly past the young man who just brought her down, his cold blue eyes focusing on Ka’imi.
At that moment, as Mittens sees Ka’imi under attack and three of his companions down in the snow, while a vicious war dog, two young Dreyens, and their reindeer-horned leader advance on him despite their wounds, something unexpected happens.
Mittens sees, and Ka’imi hears, a sizzling crack of energy as bright electricity explodes, just to the right of the maul-wielding barbarian (Barbarian #1), then in an instant a bolt of electricity shoots directly through him, the dog beside him, Ednyss’ prone form, the Dreyen Leader, and the young Dreyen who just overwhelmed Varielky. The bolt flies east until it hits a tree, lighting it aflame. In its wake, you see, blinking into existence, a familiar figure. It is the provincial sorcerer, who disappeared, literally, shortly after your train derailed. He holds in his hands a Jenghen Lightning Rod, which he has just used to fry most of your assailants!
As you all, including the puffy-faced female Dreyen stand in astonishment, the Sorcerer jumps to Ednyss and administers a healing potion, then throws another one to Mittens. The last barbarian (disengage) turns and runs for the trees.
(OOC: Ednyss heals 8pts! Varielky and Dyn Gwelw, please roll death saves. Mittens & Ka’imi, what do you do?)

Round 3 Results
(from Round 2:) Ka'imi fires his longbow at the Dreyen woman as she rushes at him, but his arrow, PFFFFFT!! sticks firmly in the barbarian’s wooden shield, causing no damage!
21 Dyn Gwelw [OOC: Death Save: Fail!]
19 Ednyss [OOC: Death Save: Positive]
19 Young Barbarian #1 raises his maul over his head, grunting and perspiring with the effort, Mittens see his eyes go blank for a moment, and the hammer comes down far short of its mark, snow spraying out from the impact.
15 Dog #1 continues its snarling attack and bites Mittens' left arm for 3 points damage, again springing up to knock the Cat off his feet (OOC: I rolled the save for Mittens this time: 12 - no knock down!). Mittens is down to 1HP!

Death Save for round 3 (or 4 if you rule it differently): 6
Death Save for round 4 (or not): 1
Varielky | Emma
Ednyss groans as he is brought back to consciousness. His mind still engaged in the battle urges him to spring up and continue fighting, but his sore body refuses to obey for a few seconds. When Ednyss finally comes to his senses and sees the sorcerer standing above him, he thanks the sorcerer briefly, "Thank you. May you forever receive the glory of war." He then slumps back down and works at regaining his strength.
(OOC: Happy Holidays everyone!)
