Those are both fun. Rangers get a bad rap, but they are so very versatile. They can do most anything. Rogues can’t do quite as much, but they do plenty and kick butt at it. Plus - thieves’ tools! I’ll admit, I am interested in seeing a party that has to kick in all the doors instead of pick the lock, but I can’t deny the usefulness. Lol
In the end: no one will tell you that you can’t be something or should be something else. Play something you like.
In regards to Arcane Archer. Your abilities could be more inborn, like a sorcerer. If you want to RP it a bit more, you could kinda say you've always had mysteriously good luck with a bow, and weird events surrounding it. Maybe you feel some kind of resonance when the wizard casts their spells, or they sense the magic on you. Either way it all just bursts out at 3rd level.

You do have a Wizard in the party as well so if your're not a fan of the inborn stuff she could teach basics I imagine, or if you do like the inborn magic she could help you harness it safely and usefully?

@nschrock - haha I did think of that, and was considering the rogue for that reason. But then I also thought that maybe with a smith, mason and carpenter in our group, we'd be able to use our tools to find a way around - pull apart the hinges or finding a weakness in the walls etc.
@Char - no stress from me if it's slow to begin with. I find that some PbP games can be slow for a bit as people get busy.
Haha true. Even if personalities don't mix, I can see him trying to emulate magic, and so it might play out well that he is only able to get his magical abilities to manifest through his bow and arrows - kind of like his own focus.
^ I don't think the party will have met much before the tavern though, so perhaps blending in by choosing the race that's most common in the group might not be the best way to go about it. Though honestly I don't really know how common Dragonborn are in the general populace in this setting.
Kinda wondering about my fighting style. I was originally thinking Superior Technique but Battle Maneuvers don't really work on the site yet. Maybe Great Weapon Fighting? My character's definitely going to have a hammer motif, but that could easily be a Maul. Interception and Defense might be good ideas too.
If I decide to stick with Superior Technique I'm thinking about going with Tactical Assessment, but I'm open to other ideas as well.
Tactical Assessment looks good, but I remember really utilising Commander's Strike on my Battlemaster. If I wasn't hitting as hard as someone else, or there was a higher threat I couldn't deal with at that moment in time, I'd utilise Commander's Strike to get the ranger in the party to obliterate them with his incredibly good attack rolls. Tactical Assessment looks good, but I'm sure that much of the party can help with those rolls as well and they're not specifically things your fighter will do all the time. If you've got the Sup Die, and it's restored on a short rest, use that baby up as much as you can!
Good point, well have to wait on the DM for that then (although if in doubt go human)
When it comes to fighting styles I don't have much experience with much other than two weapon fighting, but maybe it's something to find out after "getting to know" your character a bit more?

that sounds excellent. I can see it now: “No doors or windows, only man! *busts through the wall* “

Oh I was looking at it as more of a flavor thing, but Commander's Strike does look useful...
I think any of the Battlemaster maneuvers are great for flavour and can easily work in with backstories and action as well. I think that you could easily work Commander's Strike in as similarly as Tactical Assessment.
So I feel like people are kind of winding down in their decision preparations. For my battle maneuver I've decided to instead go with Precision Attack. It works well with a character that is good at pinpointing weak spots, and it also doesn't rely on another party member to complete!
Anyway, does anyone have any things they want to say about post formatting? idk if I want to go all out with like colors and stuff but I'm open to it if enough people are on board.
I usually just go with bold for spoken words, but not colours. The formatting stuffs up a fair bit on here for some reason, so I tend to keep it a little more simple.

Also just looking at the party she'd probably take the form of a Silver Dragonborn so you've probably only seen her as a Dragonborn so far

I'm an oaf and forgot to join the campagin. So I'll be doing that later today after I wake up. Apologies if I was holding things up.
Also are we doing EXP or Milestone leveling?
I'm not sure on the leveling right now but as we are level 1 its easy to change up :)

I tend to do double quotes for speach and bold for actions then I do the [./spell] stuff for spells because its fancy
